PA12: ‘That Crazy Blogger Guy’

Posted on | May 2, 2010 | 7 Comments

That’s what Tim Burns called me Friday night at campaign HQ, and here’s some more crazy blogging at the Hot Air Green Room:

The Burns campaign can count on lots of votes from what one staffer described as “pissed off” Democrats and independents, but the real key will be the ability of Burns to appeal to some of the 12th District’s more affluent voters, who drifted away from the GOP in recent election cycles. . . .
The 12th District is a psychedelic gerrymander on steroids — a Rorshach inkblot, as one campaign source described it — and includes some upscale “exurban” areas in Westmoreland County, east of Pittsburgh. Turning out GOP votes in Westmoreland will be crucial to victory for Burns on May 18. On Election Night, staffers in the campaign “war room” will have a keen eye on returns from those Westmoreland precincts.

Please read the whole thing.

Nice report on the link to Hot Air.

Burns is a great candidate, Critz is an insider toady, and this is a remarkable “wave” year (Boehner mentioned the possibility of a 100-seat pick-up Friday).

Still, PA-12 concerns me deeply. Despite the blue-collar Catholic work ethic of the Johnstown and nearby areas, they returned to Congress the excreable Murtha, a man who only escaped prison by testifying against his colleagues, for three decades. Something is rotten in that district, rotten to the very core.

I hope the campaign learned the lesson of NY-23. They need honest citizens to work the polls and vote count watchers. They cannot EVER let custody of the votes get into the hands of the Murtha Machine.

The progressives have proven they are willing to lie and cheat to get legislation through – do you think they learned nothing from the Brown election? Expect the worst, hope for the best
