Allahpundit Now Seriously Considering Endorsement of J.D. Hayworth?

Posted on | May 10, 2010 | 57 Comments

He is shocked — shocked! — to discover that John McCain is a lying two-faced backstabbing crapweasel:

Pandering is one thing, shameless careerist pandering is something else, and then there’s John “Goddamned Fence” McCain marching along the border in a badass Navy baseball cap looking like he could choke out a coyote with his bare hands.

In response to this pathetic travesty:

To which I can only reply:

McCain is just an amazing piece of work. Unfortunately Hayworth is a bombastic loser who might just lose to the Democrat (he already lost a congressional seat in Arizona).

Yes – a safe GOP seat he had held until the Abramoff stuff started breaking. JD only avoided an Ethics investigation by losing, so it’s all good. BTW, he never reimbursed Abramoff as required by law for the use of his stadium luxury box for fund-raising events.

On the bright side, this will surely be McCain’s last term, and either Flake or Shadegg would be an excellent Senator.

Let the Democrats keep the franchise on nominating nuts.

And if AP is leaning towards endorsing JD, you can bet it is not in the GOP’s best interests.

Let’s try this: You’re saying that re-electing John McCain is a good thing . . . why? Because he’s got an “R” beside his name? I just don’t accept that as a valid argument.

John McCain is a bad person, a bad politician and a bad Republican. His defeat, either in the GOP primary or in November, would be a net good. And yet you’re arguing that J.D. Hayworth’s political liabilities are so horrendous that the risk of him winning the GOP nomination is unacceptable — as if John McCain has no political liabilities?

    Sigh.

Even Glenn Beck is not happy about Hayworth.

I am not happy with McCain. He is a deeply flawed candidate. He will not survive another Senate term. But Jeez Louise, Hayworth is the best candidate we could find to run against him? Hayworth not that long ago lost his congressional seal in Arizona. But hey, I am not an Arizona voter. You want Hayworth, fine, just make sure he wins the general.

I want the GOP to take back the Senate. That is critical until we can defeat Obama in 2012. I would love it if we could do so with out Mac and Cheese(Graham). But I really want to take back the Senate (or at least greatly narrow the gap). We are risking blowing elections we should win (Kentucky could flip if we are not careful). I want the best candidates who can win.

Dave C, he promised he would not hit me any more and that he loves me. Look at the flowers he sent me. Oh no, I am channeling Lindsay Graham now.

I hear you. I hear Stacy. While I may agree with Hayworth on more points than McCain, I disagree with him on many points too. Sorry but I was not a Tancredo fan.

This race is a close call for a number of reasons. McCain was Mavericky before he was not Mavericky and is a mess. The problem with Hayworth is he is a bit of a nut job too. I want to win the Senate back. That does not mean supporting every RINO whore who struts along the border, or buying Frumian arguments on how to win as Republicans is to be better Democrats than Democrats, but it does mean looking objectively at the race and candidates and who has the best chance of prevailing in the general election.

There are bigger things to deal with than John McCain. Sarah Palin did it out of loyalty. Why is Glenn Beck doing it?

Hayworth voted for the Bush medicare expansion, voted for the bridge to no where in Alaska, lost his congressional seat due in part in breaking his campaign limits pledge, and he gave his wife a six figure salary out of PAC funds.

McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts, was for Amnesty before he was for hobo hunting of illegals, and can be a general pain in the ass.

My concern is simple, Hayworth might lose the general (if he wins the primary).

    From Michelle Malkin.

McCain has never admitted he was wrong about his support of:

    *The $700 billion all-purpose, earmark-stuffed TARP bailout;

    *The $25 billion auto bailout;

*The $300 billion mortgage entitlement bailout; and

*The first $85 billion AIG bailout.

    Or McCain/Feingold, I might add.

Pray, tell.. What caused this recent conversion to this “Build The Damned Fence” attitude he suddenly has? What was his ‘Road to Damascus’ moment?

When only a few short years ago, he was working with his dear friend, Teddy Kennedy, on amnesty for illegal immigrants.

    That’s easy. Rasmussen Poll, 4/13/2010.

I do not trust McCain. But I do not particularly trust Hayworth either. I wish we had a better choice. But ultimately, I sure as hell do not want to give a Senate seat to the Democrats. That is all. But hey, I am not from Arizona. So if you think you can get Hayworth to win the primary and the general, go for it.

The election in AZ is going to be the economy and illegals.

McCain has a piss poor record on both counts and plenty of second chances. It’s dog track time for him.

This election year will be anti-democrat by any measure..

Conservatives held their nose and voted for McCain in 08.. it’s time Moderates to do the same for Hayworth.

    Vote Hayworth.

Besides.. TARP and the bail outs that McCain voted for.. kinda wipes out any claims he has about being anti-pork.

I wish the focus was civil fines on employers who hire illegals. So if a roofing job is happening on your house and if the roofers happens to be illegals (I am shocked that goes on), that the general contractor gets a fine sufficient to get them to stop hiring illegals. Same for landscapers, restaurants, etc., etc. If the workers have no proof of citizenship, issue the citation but allow it to be dropped in some reasonable amount of time if the employer can show the employee has a valid social security account (employers should be able to easily do that). Make is a local revenue generator for municipalities and you can bet doughnut fueled peace officers and building inspectors will be out there doing their duty.

What does it mean to stab a conservative in the back??? Just by voting across the isle, even if it IS for the best of our Nation…we should be so lucky to have him in Congress. Politics are politics and McCain is McCain but acting as if him working for our Country is an issue if he can shake the hand of a democrat is pretty disgusting. Dave, as for McCain and economy- TARP was paid back, the libs have spent the pay back. As for the rest of the economy, you failed to mention MCCAIN IS THE THIRD MOST FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE MEMBER IN SENATE… WHy not talk about JD, clearly that is who you are trying to campaign for??? I suppose it is b/c there is nothing too remarkable to speak of when it comes to JD, unless you want to talk about his lack of ethics??
