Obama Sends CIA Into Libya Ground Operations; Andrew Sullivan Stunned

Posted on | March 31, 2011 | 34 Comments

New York Times:

The Central Intelligence Agency has inserted clandestine operatives into Libya to gather intelligence for military airstrikes and contact rebels battling Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s forces, according to American officials.

And don’t you know it’s just breaking Sully’s poor little heart?

I’m still absorbing this news and don’t want to vent immediately, because there is still part of me that simply cannot believe that president Obama has already ordered covert action in Libya on one side in a civil war . . . It’s so surreal, so discordant with what the president has told the American people, so fantastically contrary to everything he campaigned on. . . . I simply cannot believe it.

Heh. More salt for that fresh wound? Because we’re going to keep rubbing it in, you gullible rube.

Go ahead. Have another bite of that “turd sandwich“!

…there is still part of me that simply cannot believe that president Obama has already ordered covert action in Libya on one side in a civil war…

That would be the same part that would throw a tantrum in day care on discovering that the kid he took that wonderful toy from, wanted it back.

    heh.

The rebels in Libya are Al Qaeda members, last time I checked we are still at war with Al Qaeda, Obama sending them weapons and material support amounts to nothing less than TREASON.

It is time to file Articles of Impeachment against President Obama

  • http://ace.mu.nu/archives/279942.php Andrew Sullivan

I know the president is not against all wars – just dumb ones. But could any war be dumber than this – in a place with no potential for civil society, wrecked by totalitarianism, riven by tribalism, in defense of rebels we do not know and who are clearly insufficient to the task?

  • http://www.whitehouse.gov President Barack Obama

I don’t oppose all wars. What I am opposed to are dumb wars. What I am opposed to are rash wars. What I am opposed to are cynical attempts by armchair, weekend warriors to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.

Is it too early to use the word ‘Quagmire’?

    You are a dumb twat.

Regardless, up to November 2012 Sully and rubes like him will defend this President to their last, dying mouse-click because the alternative: folks (especially females) with an R, may have been right in 2007-present is ego-shattering.

The ego is such an inflexible thing.

I don’t through life worrying about what Andrew Sullivan thinks about government. I am, however, very worried about the return of the draft.

    Fucking neocon bullshit.

[It had to be said, 'cause you know y'all were thinkin' it:] That ain’t the only thing he wants to shove down your throat.

The covet ops are encouraging signs but it’s very disappointing that we didn’t hear commitment from our president in his speech, that America’s interests lie in Qaddafi being ousted. And without that being met, you know, I have to again ask why in the world will our military and CIA might be used according to the U.N. and Arab League desires and NATO’s leadership and the President’s whims in this SKIRMISH! or this war or whatever it is that Obama calls it or doesn’t want to call it.

Its the $600 million! dollar-a-day question that is being asked now because that’s the cost incurred by Americans as we support the no-fly zone, which, of course, the no-fly zone, the intervention or enactment is turning into more than that.

Who is funding CIA ops? The patriotic tax payers or the poppy masters of Afghanistan?

  • http://twitter.com/sarahpalinusa Governor Sarah Palin

Bill, i thought you were a sexist partisan pervert, but i see you are just an equal opportunity jackass.

You know liberals, Alaska bloggers, bred on free internet porn call me a milf and what not, but Obama, for me, is a pilf.

The only thing the CIA wants from Libya is that its lies about Pan Am 103 don’t come out. That aircraft was downed by a deal bwteen the US and Iran to give Iran its one and one only deal for the downing of IR655, which was deliberate.

  • http://www.newtexplore2012.com/ Newt Gingrich

My position on Libya? Same as RSM’s. I’m against anything Obama is for. I’m so intelligent you see.

  • http://ak4mc.us/2c/2011/ McGehee

No, but you might want to hold off on using the phrase “quagmire <bloodcurdling scream>”

Contrary to the new editorial position of the Weekly Standard, O’Sputnik is not a neocon, I would love for him to suggest the return of the draft.

Really, I wonder what the record for different sock puppets in one thread is here.

  • http://thegunsreport.com Editor

OK, I don’t get it: What part of “Andrew Sullivan Stunned” is news?

Then again, sending in the CYA might not be (cough) so… intelligent. (cough)

  • JeffS

    Fucking neocon bullshit.

The only bullshit around here emanates from you, AngelaTC. The only political party that has called for the return of the draft has been the Democrats.

And there’s no way the Demonrats will call for it now, what with O!bama applying his community organizer skills to war.

So please take your strawman and go play in the corner. The adults are having an adult conversation.

  • JeffS

Andrew Sullivan will rationalize his way into forgiving Obama of his transgressions. Or at least a way to hold off on final judgment until he sees how this war turns out (which makes him more stupid than I previously believed, given what a Charlie Foxtrot Obama is turning Libya into).

  • Sockpuppet

Hey! I can speak for myself!

  • Sockpuppet

OK, that didn’t work out……guess I don’t have the sockpuppet mojo.
    :-(

  • sockbugget

I wonder who that may be? hmm…

  • JeffS

    I think not.
