I Blame Dan Collins …

… for suggesting that I link this shockingly obscene NSFW video. And by “shockingly obscene NSFW,” of course, I mean “Precious and Few,” the sappy 1972 love ballad by Climax.

Everybody knows the classic “Rick Roll,” whereby you trick somebody into clicking on video of Rick Astley singing “Never Gonna Give You Up.” In the comments on an earlier post, Dan Collins one-upped the Rick Roll with what we might call the Climax. And just to maximize the effectiveness of this technique, I’ve created a special URL:

Send that link to an unsuspecting co-worker — improvise your own irresistible subject-line teaser — and then listen for the telltale piano-and-strings intro from the neighboring cubicle that proclaims to everyone in the office: YOU’VE BEEN ‘CLIMAXED’!

What’s particularly shocking about this acoustic atrocity is that the lead vocalist, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Geraci, was none other than Stacy McCain, operating under a pseudonym.
Shocking, I know. But when have you ever known Stacy not to be trying to turn this sort of shame into a triumph?

I used to love that song when I was a kid. Confession: I still like it. Which is odd, because I otherwise hated all that soft, soggy, ballad-y tripe with the ooh-aah choruses (chori?).
