Barack Obama’s ’60 Minutes’ Interview Has Me Screaming at My TV Again

Posted on | December 12, 2011 | 85 Comments

Today on Morning Joe, they were playing clips of Steve Kroft’s 60 Minutes interview with President Obama, and I literally started screaming. There is only so much of this bulls–t I can endure without talking back to my TV:

OBAMA: If I can’t get Republicans to move, partly because they’ve made a political, strategic decision that says, “Anything Obama’s for, we’re against, because that’s our best chance of winning an election,” I don’t think the American people would see that as a failure on my part. My preference is that they’d have a different attitude. You know, I’ve been joking with my staff lately that I think in my next speech, I am gonna say, “I am adamantly opposed to investing in education and putting teachers in the classroom. I’m adamantly opposed to rebuilding America and putting construction workers back to work.” And I’m thinking maybe suddenly Republicans might be for it. But, you know, keep in mind, I’m talking about Republican members of Congress. I’m not talking about Republicans around the country.
KROFT: They don’t like you much better. It’s only 7% approval rating.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Yeah, no, I understand. But I think that they like the ideas that we put forward. I mean, the interesting thing is the majority of Republicans actually think we should have a balanced approach to deficit reduction, including tax increases for the wealthy. The majority of Republicans do think that we should make investments in roads and bridges and improving our airports and investing in basic research and medical research.
So if you take my name out of it and just look at the ideas that we’ve been presenting, these are common sense, mainstream ideas that …

THAT WE CAN’T AFFORD! YOU ALREADY BLEW A TRILLION DOLLARS ON THIS STIMULUS CRAP AND WHAT DID IT GET US, HUH? WHERE’S THE F–KING RECOVERY? THE DEFICIT’S OUT OF CONTROL! WE DON’T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THIS CRAP! SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT ‘COMMON SENSE’!

Obama thinks he can just rattle of a laundry list of spending projects, call them “common sense, mainstream ideas” and — POOF! — the money magically appears to pay for this stuff.

And something else: He loves to talk about infrastructure — “investments in road and bridges” — as if that was the majority of what he’s spending money on, when in fact, infrastructure projects were less than 5% of the stimulus bill. It’s like me sprinkling a turd with sugar and asking you to eat it and when you refuse, I accuse you of disliking sugar. Here’s another idiotic assertion:

KROFT: [Republicans] say it’s your insistence on raising the taxes to the wealthiest Americans, that you’re fixated on that. And that there are other ways to raise revenue.
OBAMA: Steve, the math is the math. You can’t lower rates and raise revenue, unless you’re getting revenue from someplace else. Now, either it’s coming from middle-class families or poor families or it’s coming from folks like you and me that can afford to pay a little more. I mean, I think the average American understands that.

ECONOMIC GROWTH, YOU F–KING IDIOT! EVER HEARD OF THE LAFFER CURVE? SUPPLY SIDE? ART LAFFER COULD EXPLAIN IT TO YOU IN 15 MINUTES WITH A COCKTAIL NAPKIN!

Obamanomics is simply ignorance as the basis of policy. The more you know, the less you like it, and his only hope of re-election is to promulgate counterfactual ideas and persuade voters that they must choose between two lies: His dishonest characterizations of his own policies and his dishonest characterizations of Republican policies.

I hope he fails, because my blood-pressure can’t take another four years of listening to this guy lie.

My favorite part was the sheer disdain in his voice; as if the American people aren’t worthy of him since we’re expecting too much. He “can’t change the weather”, you know.

See, I don’t have this problem when Obama is speaking.  I simply insert earplugs, put on the noise suppressor headgear I use at the range, dunk my head into a full tub, and blow bubbles until my wife taps me on the shoulder to let me know he’s finished.  I never get upset anymore.

“You can’t lower rates and raise revenue, unless you’re getting revenue from someplace else.”

Ok, set supply side aside for a second and this is still wrong- you get the revenue by closing off deductions and loopholes largely crafted to favor special interests. You’re getting the revenue from those cozy deals crafted by lobbyists. Of course that flies directly in the face of the central tenet of Obamanomics- ‘take care of your friends and punish your enemies’.

    Well, you’re not alone.

The Cowboys defensive secondary had ME screaming at the television last night, screaming at Newman, screaming at Rob Ryan, screaming at the GM for fielding such a pack of unworthy defensive players.

They gave up 15 points in the final 5 minutes of the game!

  16. Dcmick
    December 12th, 2011 @ 9:40 am

    I blame the defensive secondary!

  17. Dcmick
    December 12th, 2011 @ 9:45 am

Blaming Romo is some kind of parlour game.

He scored 34 points, moved his team into field goal range to tie.

As for the Austin reception, Austin said later that he lost the ball in the lights and that’s why he didn’t make any sight adjustment on the route.  It’s another case where Romo put the ball there and the receiver failed him.

BUT EVEN WITH THAT, the first down play was weak, the second down play was the passing down, which set up an obvious 3d down passing play.  Unimaginative offensive series.

But the defense giving up TWO touchdown scoring drives and on top of that allowing the Giants to convert, which means they gave up FIFTEEN POINTS in five minutes.

NOBODY can save the Cowboys with that defensive secondary.

The Archangel Gabriel couldn’t pull them out of it.

And even if they tied the game, had they lost the coin toss, THEY STILL WOULD HAVE LOST THE GAME because the secondary wouldn’t have any better chances to hold in overtime than they had in the fourth quarter.

But if you check out the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram, they’re trying to finger Romo and the supposed December curse.

    Utter nonsense!

    They need a PROFESSIONAL secondary!

When liberals accuse someone else of something, that something is usually exactly what the liberals are doing. When Obama says that the GOP is against anything he is for for political reasons, then he is actually telling us that he is against anything they are for as pure political calculation.

One can always know that the liberals are actually doing by listening to what they are accusing the GOP of doing.

Hmmm. A turdicant sprinkling sugar for us. I like the justified image. And what Obama offers is a little expensive. Like all DC  Ciceros, it never occurs to Kroft to mention costs. That’s what happens when one has covered politics too long.

Obama is full of crapola.  All the man knows is I-I-I and blame, blame, blaming others instead of taking responsibility for his own actions or inaction.  He must have been a spoiled brat growing up who always got what he wanted because that is exactly how he’s acting today.  He is a pathological liar and a narcissist.

I try to avoid watching Obama on TV for fear of throwing something at the T.V.

Kroft, a enowned enabler of the move to elect and re-elect Obama himself looked a bit miffed, realizing that Chutzpah, Chicago style has no bounds. The nexus between the enabling media and the Chicago mob is destroying his nation, there is a hi price for indulging in trivia and hypocracy.

IRS receipts refute your point, but I suppose you have the mental machinery to simply look up how much was received by the IRS and compare it to taxes… take would require handling what, two numbers, right? All you “Progressives” can handle is One.

Well, not more than 5 minutes to a normally intelligent 4yr old, you forget, he’s allowing for the fact that it is an attempt to teach toddler math skills to Progressives… that might actually take years of explanations and real-world examples. Progressives are uncommonly stupid, being those who inhabit the first-third of the bell curve.

Hard to believe? Look at the population size, compare the number of “Progressives” and the intelligence bell curve for the U.S. population – a very close match…

” Obama thinks he can just rattle of a laundry list of spending projects, call them ‘common sense, mainstream ideas’ and — POOF! — the money magically appears to pay for this stuff.”

He can, not because money magically appears, but because the “journalists” that interview him consistently fail to press him on how he plans to lay for his profligate spending.
