Hillary Clinton Ejecting From State?

The Puffington Host reports:

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she wants to step off the “high wire of American politics” after two decades and is again tamping down speculation that she might stay in government if President Barack Obama wins a second term.
Clinton told State Department employees on Thursday that she is ready for a rest and is paying no attention to the Republican presidential candidate debates.

The Pagan Temple opines:

But it does leave open the possibility that Obama could go ahead and make the [Sec. State] appointment sooner rather than later, which would free Hillary to replace Biden as Obama’s running mate in the 2012 election. This is something I predicted from the very beginning of Obama’s presidency, but Clinton has of course denied any such intentions lately.

Yeah, when Hillary says she’s paying no attention to the debates, that may indeed be true. Paying attention to the GOP primaries, now: that is another matter. Timing her move later, to minimize the conservative chance to react (for example, Michele Bachmann may have had more traction if there was a thought of Hillary being on the ticket) makes good sense.

Good thinking and interesting idea re VP. It’d be a strong ticket.

& if she is retiring, replace her pre-election so you don’t have a lame duck on the team. Obama will be pressed to say who he’d pick anyway. Might as well get another energized campaigner out there.

Do you see a Biden-Clinton switcheroo?

I always thought that was the deal Clinton and Obama made from the beginning of his term. She spends his first term as his Secretary of State which would shore up her foreign policy credentials, then she resigns and becomes his running mate in 2012, then she’s practically guaranteed the nomination in 2016. This could be the first step in preparation.

The sad thing is, people have forgotten just how radical Hillary Clinton really is at heart. She’s like Stalin to Obama’s Trotsky, only the apparently get along a little better, at least now.

    Danke for der link, Admiral.

Hillary not paying attention to the debates is like saying people don’t require oxygen to breathe.

    Not buying that statement.

It’s certainly possible: “Vote Obama/Clinton, or you’re both raaaaacist and sexist!”

The debates are blow-offable, so I take her statement at face value. To think that she isn’t watching the polls like a hungry snake watching a mouse is where it gets un-buyable.

No way Hillary is on Obama’s ticket this year.  The two main reasons are her, and him.

She would be nuts to sully her perfect electoral record by tying herself to Obama’s campaign in a sour economy.  Also, why would she agree to hang around for four years without any power at all when she could travel the world and still have the next Democratic nomination if she wants it?  Being VP wouldn’t do anything for her prospects, and she can enjoy Billy J.’s money and watch the poop hit the oscillator in the next term no matter who wins (thanks to her current boss’ ineptitude).

Obama won’t replace Biden unless Sloe Joe dies.  Being mentally incapacitated is evidently not enough reason.  You see, to do so would be to suggest Obama made a mistake in picking him, and you have never seen Obama own up to a mistake yet.  So unless he can figure out a way to blame Biden on Bush, he’s stuck with him.

I can see the scenario coming true, but I can equally see her resigning, sitting out the four years of Obama’s lame duckery, being far enough away from the train wreck if it happens, and running in 2016.
