Mitt Scratch Fever?

Nuge:

after a long heart&soul conversation with MittRomney today I concluded this goodman will properly represent we the people & I endorsed him

This blog would like to point to a troubling item on Wikipedia:

Hearing loss
Nugent also suffers from hearing loss. A November 2005 Rolling Stone article noted Nugent, among others, has publicly acknowledged hearing problems. “The ear’s not too good, especially with background noise”, he said in a 2007 interview. “[But] that’s a small price to pay. Believe me the journey was worth it.”

The beauty of Romney as the consumate politician is that, as with Lord Dorwin (emphasis mine), the listener can hear whatever is desired:

In addition to his (possibly bogus) status as an aristocrat, Lord Dorwin possesses genuine skill as an intragalactic diplomat in his capacity of a leadership representative of the Empire during its declining years. He is responsible for negotiating the treaties that granted autonomy to Anacreon and the other three entities collectively known as the Four Kingdoms. Dorwin disputes the thesis that these territories are independent of the Empire, and his comments are taken by optimistic members of the Encyclopedia Board as proof that the Empire will protect Terminus from threats made by the neighboring Kingdom of Anacreon. However, Hardin’s analysis shows that all of his statements cancel out, meaning that he has spoken for five days without actually saying anything.

Maybe Mitt is just trying to set up a lunch date with Ann Coulter. Who knows?

Romney? Why back a man with his skills at losing elections? He wouldn’t be in the race now if it weren’t for gobs of money. I think we can claim Mitt as the exception that proves the Peter Principle, although G H W Bush comes close as well.

Nugent has a practical side – always has.  This hasn’t been a stellar field, but we’ve not had  a truly stellar field in a long time – maybe 1980 with Reagan, GHWB, Connelly, the young Dole, Howard Baker, and John Anderson, but even that wasn’t all that great:  there were questions about Reagan’s age, Bush’s electability, Connelly’s history, and the qualifications of the others.  So when was this great field we wish we had today?  2000, with Dubya, McCain, Forbes, Hatch, Libby Dole, and  . . . Herman Cain, among others?

If only Reagan had lived on and we had repealed the 22nd Amendment . . .

Like the engineers charged with saving the Apollo 13 crew, we have to work with what we have.  And the actual campaign is as good a way as any to winnow the field down to those who can hang.  Me, I think we have too many dang primaries and not enough state conventions where the people who actually do the party work make the choice, not a bunch of drive-by voters who show up every four years and then disappear when the real heavy lifting needs to be done.  But that would just give “the establishment” more power again, and give a lot of our current supporters bad dreams.

So – cowboy up!  Obama must be defeated or there may not be a salvageable hulk left of the country by 2016.  There will be plenty of time to sob into Mommy’s apron about how unfair it all has been later.

Hey, you know: *shag* the candidate field. This is about the people, or we are tacitly agreeing with BHO.

The problem is, nothing is really going to change. That’s been nipped in the bud. Or, from the Establishment perspective, a stake has been driven through the heart of that evil vampire named Reform.

sorry Ted; you made me listen to you a lot in years past — so much so that I’m not cheerfully going along with this.
