Is ‘Corrupt Democrat’ Redundant?

Posted on | February 7, 2013 | 11 Comments

William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection reports on a congressional ethics investigation that has found “there is substantial reason to believe that Representative Owens accepted payment of travel expenses for an officially connected trip to Taiwan from an impermissible source, resulting in an impermissible gift, in violation of federal law and House Rules.”

And by “substantial reason,” they mean: Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!

“Corrupt Democrat” = “Corrupt Republican” = “Corrupt Politician”, as far as I am concerned.

Yes it is becoming redundant. But craven cowardly Republican is becoming redundant too.

Put ’em all in a burlap sack and hit it with a stick and you won’t hit the wrong one.

Without a press that holds them accountable it’ll never change.

It’s not only redundant, it’s getting real old.

ABSCAM was an FBI sting operation in the ’70s which began snaring members of Congress right and left until Jimmy Carter’s AG Griffin Bell caught wind of it and ordered it shut down – immediately after notifying his friend, Georgia Senator Herman Talmadge of Watergate fame, hours before Talmadge was to pick up his own payoff.

Imagine such an operation today. They might not get Pelosi – she’s insulated and they probably couldn’t offer her enough at this point – but I wonder how many other House Democrats would turn them down? I doubt you could fill the bench for a decent size softball team from the honest ones.

Oh, and in the “Where Are They Now?” Department, our old friend Dede Scozzafava is currently serving as the Assistant New York Secretary of State for Local Government, appointed by Governor Cuomo.

And they say crime doesn’t pay!

Adscam – brought down Canada’s 40 year reign of Liberals, and opened Canada’s eyes to Stephen Harper. But it took 40 years and the atmosphere of beyond-contempt for the ordinary Canadian by their rulers for Adscam to be effective. It also brough Captain Ed to the forefront of Conservative Bloggers.
