‘Tis so sweet to trust in _____
Just to take ___ at his word.
Just to rest upon his ______.
And to know, “Thus _____ the _____.”

I remember both the words and tune of ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus. That song isn’t sung that much in Church anymore, but it is something I well remember from my boyhood. I guess I’m starting into geezerhood. Looks like you are entering yours a bit early.

I, uh, worship in a Baptist church, where this is kind of standard fare. :-)

When you don’t know the song it’s easy to picture it as a media ode to Obama

Lord, this is not my home.
    I’m just a’passin through.
    My treasures are laid up
    somewhere beyond the blue.
    The angels beckon me
    toward Heaven’s open door
and I can’t feel at home
    in this world any more.
Increasingly accurate description of the alien dimension many of us find ourselves in in these troubled times….. but also a song which brings comfort.
As does a line from Anne of Green Gables, when Anne asks Marilla if she ever despairs and Marilla’s reply, “No, to despair is an insult to God.”

Choose me! Choose me; I know the answers. :^)

    “Jesus”

    “word”

    “promise”

    “sayeth”……”Lord”

One of my favorites is “My Hope Is Built”

Oh I forgot the second part of my comment, heh – gave me the image of Chuck Todd in Obama’s lap, nuzzling up. :)
