Bradley Manning Verdict: GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY! …

Exactly how many counts this unspeakable disgrace to the uniform of the U.S. Army was convicted of today, it’s hard to tell from the Politico story, but Allahpundit says it’s at least 15 counts, enough to put Bradley Manning — I pause to spit on the ground in disgust at the mention of his name — in federal prison for a long, long time.

This dishonorable piece of filth should have been shot or hanged already. We can expect one of his fellow inmates to stick a shiv through Manning’s neck, gouge his eyes out and mutilate his corpse. Then we will petition the White House to seek a full pardon for that inmate.

Personally, I’d want to pin a medal on any convict who kills Manning.

AP says 19 of 21 counts but they are calling it a victory since he wasn’t convicted of aiding the enemy – just enough other counts for up to 128 years in prison … roll eyes.

He was acquitted of aiding the enemy. WTF? What do you have to do to get convicted of that?

But he is going to be spending a long time in a secure military prison, so he has that going for him.

You have to prove intent. The prosecution did not meet its burden of proof in that regard, given the verdict. Intent to release the info is not necessarily intent to aid and abet the enemy.

This is a very good requirement that, unfortunately, is being eroded through administrative law actions (think EPA actions), which are imposing criminal penalties under a lower burden of proof.

Histrionics aside, our military’s Due Process was followed. We are not Prognazis who lynch their enemies on the barest of pretexts. We are not communists who make sport of the pain and suffering of children.

Manning was convicted, and will spend the rest of his natural life behind bars, where he will be forgotten because his usefulness is over. Remember: no one is madder about Manning NOT getting the death penalty than his former friends and those who used him: they wanted a martyr, and a loose end silenced. What they have is a future witness for the prosecution should Assange and his associates fall into our hands.

No, the military’s due process was not followed, and the judge should be in jail.

He was detained for more than 4 times the absolute, non-negotiable legal length of time per the Manual of Courts Martial prior to arraignment. That was mandatory dismissal right there, but the judge ruled that as long as the prosecution was “diligently” trying to think of something to charge him with, it was all good.

Then the judge allowed the prosecution to re-open with new witnesses after the defense had rested.

And then she allowed the charges to be fucking CHANGED after the closing arguments.

And she allowed the “aiding the enemy” count to be pressed even though the United States has not been at war in nearly 70 years and there is no enemy TO aid.

The absolute bare minimum for a just verdict would have been acquittal on all counts; back-dated promotion to the rank he would have attained had he not been falsely imprisoned and maliciously prosecuted; honorable discharge; compensation — not from the taxpayers he served well, but rather from the private assets of the chain of command responsible for the malicious prosecution, all the way to the top — of $1,000 per day for every day of his illegal incarceration; the thanks of a grateful nation; and disbarment of the judge and the prosecution team by the home states in which they are licensed to practice law.

Anything less than that is dishonorable, a spit in the face of justice, and an undeserved reward for all you goddamn communists who spit on the oath of enlistment that he honored with true service.
