    I never saw the performance. Saw stills, but figured that anyone ill disposed to Miss Cyrus could select unflattering ones.

    On the other hand, every pic I saw, in whatever source, was unflattering. Then I did see a few short excerpts, and even a few seconds of a performance can tell you more than a carefully selected still could. And it stank on ice.

    Not shocking, not transgressive, not… not anything other than truly awful. Were there no grownups, by which I mean anyone with an IQ above room temperature, present to say “Sweetie, this is crap and you look stupid. Really, monumentally stupid?”

    How could anyone conceive and choreograph this, and practice it, and NOT say “This is MST3K levels of horribleness – you don’t have to be a puritan to see this sucks.”

    So lacking Mike Nelson, Servo and Crow, we at least have the unknown creator of this to thank. Some perspective, and a laugh or two.

    Interesting: with Miley Cyrus and all the rest having to repeatedly rehearse her number, and the editorial ‘delay’ that came out of the Janet Jackson nipple slip, and the normal BS of Disney Princess has to demonstrate shock power… Cyrus’s act is just another episode in the corruption of the ‘girl next door.’ It’s rather like listening to an atheist evangelize about the nothingness out there.
