Let’s begin with some helpful background:

After Kentucky atheist Chris Renfrow first showed up in my Twitter timeline today, I was informed that he was a high school English teacher in Louisville. But then I learned that he had recently been laid off from that position and someone pointed out that Renfrow’s LinkedIn profile indicated a rather . . . erratic work history, with five jobs in the past 10 years. Renfrow worked two years (2008-2010) at a school in Arizona, a job he left in October 2010.

October? Why does a teacher leave a job just a few weeks into the school year? But then again, why did Renfrow last only a year as a teacher in Jefferson County, Kentucky? Or only five months as a sales manager at J.C. Penney? Does he have . . . issues?


Renfrow’s argument that enforcing statutory rape law is unfair to people who have sex with minors and his “angry atheist” act may be correlated to some kind of underlying personality problem.

But whatever you do, don’t tell Chris Renfrow he should get help with his problems, because he might call you ugly names.

UPDATE: What a cheerful guy he is, huh?

Like I said, don’t try to tell angry atheist Chris Renfrow he should seek help for his problems, or he might call you ugly names.

    I’m really having difficulty controlling my anger at this parade of child rape apologists. Renfrow should keep in mind the guy in Texas and what happened when his victim’s father came in.

    Are these clowns so stupid as to believe they will be safe even if they get the laws changed? Why do they think they can uncloak now? Do they really think parents across the country will say “Darn, I sure wish that guy didn’t have sex with my child, but what can I do? It’s like totally legal?”

    Vigilante justice. That’s what these people are going to bring down on their heads. The Gay Card is not going to shield them from furious parents.

    So he’s not CURRENTLY a teacher, but his posts on the Stat rape subject all say he is; talking about seeing seniors dating freshman all the time. Unless you actually dig into his linkedin profile you don’t see that he has in fact been recently laid off.

    He seems very angry about something.

    The way he dropped the “c-word” on Jeanette — how does he expect to defend or justify that?

    As you see, I tried to warn him that he had “wandered into a minefield” when Renfrow insulted your “reading comprehension” after you questioned his weird arguments against enforcing statutory rape laws. But instead of heeding my warning — a school teacher obviously should be careful about how he discusses a topic like that — he continued the rhetorical escalation, calling Jeanette a “criminal,” and so forth.

    People who act like that online usually have problems in real life, and when somebody pointed out Renfrow’s work history, it wasn’t difficult to add 2 + 2.

    He’s obviously not particularly bright, if nothing else. Certain topics may be just dandy on the Op-Ed page of the WaPo, provided you’re a former lawyer who now paints cats for a living. If you’re a wannabe teacher in Kentucky, such topics should best be avoided on Twitter.
