Lying Liars and ‘Accuse the Accusers’

John Hoge calls a pro-Kimberlin troll account a liar, but what does anyone expect from the supporters of a convicted perjurer?

McCain has deliberately distorted the facts about Brett Kimberlin . . . and repeatedly posted false and inflammatory information . . . So far as we know, he has never once contacted Mr. Kimberlin for any kind of comment . . .

(If I’ve “never once contacted” Kimberlin, how then am I accused of having harassed Kimberlin? For the record, the reason I’ve never contacted Kimberlin for comment is because Kimberlin is a proven liar. No one is obligated to help publicize Kimberlin’s lies.)

. . . but McCain and friends have pursued dozens of peace orders and criminal charges against Bill Schmalfeldt . . .

(False. I’ve never pursued any charges against Schmalfeldt.)

. . . for having the audacity to meet that ethical requirement when he wrote about them. Their excuse? “He’s not a real journalist!”

The reason Bill Schmalfeldt harassed John Hoge had no journalistic purpose. Schmalfeldt had been harassing Lee Stranahan, so Stranahan flew to Maryland to file charges. Hoge gave Stranahan a ride from the airport to the courthouse, and this enraged Schmalfeldt, so that Hoge then became a target of Schmalfeldt’s wrath.

Readers may wonder, “Why was Bill Schmalfeldt harassing Lee Stranahan?” Or, for that matter, readers may ask, “Why did Bill Schmalfeldt start cyberstalking Aaron Walker in June 2012?”

Stranahan and Walker are both enemies of Brett Kimberlin and the only purpose Schmalfeldt’s harassment could serve was to assist in Brett Kimberlin’s attempt to intimidate his enemies into silence. Claims that I “deliberately distorted the facts” are just an “Accuse the Accusers” tactic:

This is how the thugs use their weapons of real life attacks: not just as intimidation, but as attempts to delegitimize. They also can report you to the authorities for made-up crimes and ethical lapses, and then describe you as being “under investigation.”
It’s all part of a playbook.

Hey, I’m just covering the story.

And I got sued for one meel-lion dollars.

Yeah, Brett Kimberlin is suing us for a million bucks. His suit is based on a fictional account of the last couple of years, and his troll lackeys are trying to run a disinformation PR campaign.

Yawn.

My small time blog has roughly 10X the daily traffic of both Breitbart Unmasked and Team Schmalfeldt combined. Even with his 2,000 or so sock puppet followers, @BreitbartUnmask has fewer than 1/10 the followers of @rsmccain. Their lies only reach a very tiny audience.

Those few people who do take notice see that none of the lies develop any traction and that new ones are thrown out every few days.

It was very unwise for Brett Kimberlin to pick this fight. He is taking on five hard-headed, strong-willed people who are determined to prevail. That’s simply crazy.

And as Glenn Reynolds has pointed out, it’s not smart to try to outcrazy Stacy McCain.
