Shorter Obama: ‘It Sucks to Be Me’

It’s an endless tsunami of political pain for Obama nowadays. When your signature issue goes sideways, there’s really nowhere to hide when you’re the Leader of the Free World. Has anyone else noted the irony that ObamaCare now is basically “Bush’s War” circa 2006?

Everyone is now realizing that this massive failure is an electoral albatross for Democrats going into 2014. I’m starting to hear talk from GOP operatives about their campaign plans, and they’re just absolutely loving the political environment that is developing. Scarcely had Obama’s Awful Press Conference From Hell ended than the NRCC‘s rapid response team shot out a Twitchy-style roundup of Twitter reaction, “12 Tweets That Explain What An Unmitigated Disaster Obama’s Press Conference Was,” some of which I’ll just steal.

If conservatives can just stop infighting and second-guessing for a little while, we may be looking at a real GOP juggernaut for 2014.

Victory is the balm that soothes all wounds.

    Given the breaking news that the Washington State Commissioner of Insurance as said “No” to the latest attempt to jury rig O-Care in order to protect the integrity of the insurance industry in his state, we can see yet another example of the stupidity and incompetence of this administration. In concocting this “plan” to get ahead of similar legislative efforts, Obama forgot that states also regulate insurance. Insurance companies have to pass policies through the state divisions of insurance before they can be sold. It won’t happen in time. N.B. He can’t blame the ‘Pubs or the Insurance industry for this. It’s his own masterpiece and he keeps making it worse with these seat-of-the-pants modifications to avoid political fallout. Only the dullest of LIVs can still not see what’s going on.

    This will be the latest failure for Ocare. Insurers won’t be able to or will choose not to comply. He can try and go after them (a certain portion of the electorate will believe him), but most will know his lying will not work anymore, and neither will demonizing those that are simply trying to work with the shit sandwich they were handed.

    He didn’t forget. He even mentioned state regulators in the press conference. I would guess that the “fix” is intended to be cosmetic in order to give the appearance that he is “Doing Something”. Since he also said that he still doesn’t intend to let the Rethuglicans muck with his law, it amounts to putting a paint job on Fukujima-Daishi. He’s been in political trouble and always managed to skate by with putting on a good front before. Why would he expect this time to be any different?

    I make no claim to be the most brilliant analyst, but I have not heard this idea – someone tell me if I am off-base.

    With this new twist for Obama, he has basically held back the mutiny, so that many Dems will now I assume vote against the GOP “Keep Your Plan’ bill. But one of the primary purposes of that bill is to force Dems to either support it, or get tarred with “voting for Obamacare, and then voting against “Keep Your Plan”. Dem response: No, you can keep your plan, Prez says so (again), etc.

    But again, short term thinking with no long game? What happens if this new tack accomplishes basically nothing, or is just a further fustercluck? Now, the Dems have foregone their opportunity to get on record with a “Keep Your Plan” vote. Quite the opposite – They have voted against it, just as the GOP wanted them to, and the whole thing is still a mess, and that vote is just one more weight on the albatross.

    Do this ring true to anyone else?
