Phil Robertson 1, Political Correctness 0

Oh, the GLAAD Butt-Hurt! The most popular family in America could not be defeated by the Sensitivity Outrage Brigades:

Phil Robertson, the patriarch of A&E’s Duck Dynasty clan who was suspended from his hit reality series on Dec. 18 following some incendiary comments about gay people, won’t be put on hiatus after all.
The network and the Robertson family announced Friday that Phil will still be part of the series — and since he didn’t miss any filming, his temporary suspension will have no effect on the upcoming fifth season.

Fact: The “Duck Dynasty” audience is about 10 times larger than the combined audience of CNN and MSNBC.

More at Memeorandum, including commentary by TwitchyWeasel ZippersThe Daily Caller and NewsBusters.

UPDATE: In case you were wondering about those ratings. The Season 4 premiere of “Duck Dynasty” in August drew 11.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched reality-show episode in cable TV history. Meanwhile, in the 8 p.m. hour on Thursday, Dec. 19, CNN drew 528,000 viewers and MSNBC got 699,000 viewers, for a combined total of slightly more than 1.2 million viewers.

it seems the extorsion was for GLAAD to use A&E as its platform -> the new announced “PSA” campaign:GLAAD propaganda for free.

A&E: “We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all
people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.”

In other words, they will shove homosexuality as normal as dictated by GLAAD 24/7 on the network for free.

    Great statement by FRC’s Perkins:

“The attacks on Phil Robertson revealed to the American people that the push to redefine marriage is less about the marriage altar than it is fundamentally altering America’s moral, political and cultural landscape. A&E Network’s reversal in the face of backlash is quite telling to the American people who are growing tired of GLAAD and cultural elites who want to silence people and remove God and His word from every aspect of public life.

“The goal of GLAAD is to silence anyone who dare challenge the idea that homosexuality is normal. However, the Robertson family’s refusal to cower to GLAAD’s bullying and the ensuing backlash to the suspension, unlike anything since Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, finally forced A&E Network to withdraw the suspension.

“We’ve also seen these intimidation tactics used against wedding florists, bakers, photographers who have been hauled into court, fined and even ordered to violate their religious beliefs by participating in same-sex weddings. Where is the fairness there? Where’s the tolerance? There is none. This is why hundreds of thousands of Americans had enough and took a stand by signing petitions in support of Phil Robertson and the right of Christians to quote the Bible,” concluded Perkins.

Piffle. I negotiated billion dollar contracts with Kuwaiti royals and I’m a nothing. Never was, never will be, same as you. All the inflated rhetoric is smoke and mirrors. We are all but dust in the wind, our only relevance is the good works we leave behind and the peoples hearts we have touched.

Don’t forget that Jesse Jackson loses as well — he tried to insert himself into this situation, a day late. Now his attempt to maintain his relevancy means he’ll be quite a few dollars short.

A battle won, but liberals, I fear, are winning the war. Soon churches will be shut down if they deny performing gay marriage or hiring gay pastors.

I respect and agree with your sentiment.

But the vast majority of efforts by militant gays (and others) to control religious people will be localized where their power is amplified against an individual or small group – the bakery that refused to make a gay-wedding cake is but one example.

Nothing short of a nationalized effort that can focus the power of the numbers that helped Mr. Robertson on those localized efforts is going to stop them from forcing religious peoples to live in fear that they may be forced to violate their beliefs or face losing their liberties, livelihoods and freedom.

Phil Robertson took a break from Duck Hunting to shoot a little Crow,
and serve it up to the folks at A&E, with just a hint of Bearnaise
    sauce.

They promptly ate it, and followed it up with a hat for dessert.

On Twitter, iowahawk suggests that GLAAD may have the last laugh if A&E paid them huge sums of money (as donations) to go away.

It’s kind of the point of these organizations. To shake down the guilty.

A&E might have been playing chess, but in chess, the best you can do is contain your opponent’s king. Phil Robertson was playing checkers; in checkers, you get to make yourself king.

My guess is that many of us here used to follow and reply at LGF. And then, for some unfathomable reason, once we disagreed with the orthodoxy of the website, were banned.

Not sure if LGF is still pro-Israel or not because when I do go there the vast majority of the postings are just anti-Republican in nature.

It is interesting how so many advertisers have become convinced the few are better than the many. Perhaps it has something to do with who gets hired in the corporate communications departments.

It is also interesting that the more network TV airs agenda driven shows the smaller the audience gets. Could it be that most of us don’t care to watch shows in which fathers/husbands are the butt of the joke, puerile name calling is passed off as wit and a bunch of homosexuals presume to instruct us on how to look attractive and have stable, productive relationships.

    To shake down the shake-down-able.

I just compared this, today, to the human rights shake down of entertainers who do concerts in various parts of the world. No one really thinks that doing a concert is an endorsement. No one really thinks that doing a concert makes conditions in a country worse for the oppressed. But the singer is a global celebrity who offers global media coverage of the “controversy” and might be made to donate the whole of their fee to “charity”.
