Now @PiersMorgan Interviews Duke Porn Star @Belle_Knox a/k/a Miriam Weeks

Posted on | March 7, 2014 | 82 Comments

Regular readers need no introduction:

On the one hand, Duke University freshman Miriam Weeks wants us to believe that she is not ashamed of hiring out her vagina to porn producers. On the other hand, she expects us to protect her mythical anonymity when, in point of fact, anybody with access to Google can learn that the infamous vagina-for-hire known by the professional pseudonym “Belle Knox” is actually Miriam Weeks.

Not to put too fine a point on it, Miriam Weeks is a whore.

She is not merely a slut (a word signifying promiscuity), but is a prostitute, a whore, a woman whose vagina is for rent by hourly rates.

Blunt honest English language is not hate, and it is the hypocrisy of euphemism that insults our intelligence:

The Duke University student and porn star known as Belle Knox opened up in a candid interview with Piers Morgan Thursday night, saying she has no regrets about getting to porn and telling him proudly, “I’m not being exploited, I love what I’m doing, and I’m safe. . . .
Knox told Morgan if she had been “another college girl who does porn,” it wouldn’t be a big news story, except for the fact that she took a stand, defended herself, and talked about how it “empowered” her. She said that everyone is “so repressed” and “told that sex is bad” that being in the porn industry and having “sexual autonomy is an “incredibly freeing experience” for her.
Knox said Duke University has been “really supportive,” but she had to get away from campus because it was a “really upsetting experience” for her, whereas when she’s working on pornos, she’s “surrounded by support” and “people I can talk to the stigma I face every day.”

“Well, that comes from thousands of years of patriarchy
and thousands of years of religion that leads us
to the point where we so deeply fear sexuality.”

What. Ever.

It is the hypocrisy, as I say, that is insulting. If Miriam Weeks, the daughter of an oncologist in Spokane, Washington, and a graduate of Gonzaga Prep, wants to be a shameless whore — getting paid to be boned on camera for the perverse entertainment of creepy freaks worldwide — that’s her business. But for her to pretend that this is anything other than what it is, to suggest that what she does is “empowering” and that anyone who disapproves is “repressed” — for her to expect us to accept her as our moral superior — is so insulting that I’m surprised that her fellow Women’s Studies majors at Duke are not publicly calling her out for it.

This deception requires us to ignore the reality of what it is that Miriam Weeks is paid to do. But let any Women’s Studies major explain how it is “empowering” for a teenage college girl to do this, this, thisthis and this (all NSFW, of course). That’s feminism?

The only “empowered” prostitutes that I can think of are in congress. Maybe that’s her ambition…

    Also, who is Piers Morgan?

This whole thing is a publicity stunt, designed to increase her visibility (metaphorically, obviously. She’s obviously quite visible to those with an internet connection, a modicum google-foo, and prurient tastes).

The problem is that this deluded, extraordinarily immature young lady is attempting to make the case that humans are nothing more than their most primitive of instincts. Even if we remove God/religion from the equation, we nonetheless exist as the sole species on this planet which is self-aware; which has the ability to reason; which has the ability to even entertain questions of morality. In spite of that, Ms. Weeks, her enablers, and the architects of the “philosophy” she promotes, seek to reduce the essence of humanity to the secretions of a few glands. It is spiritual devolution of the first order.

BTW, on the topic of feminism and dovetailing with one of your posts from the last couple of weeks, see this Caitlan Flanagan article in the Atlantic via Reynolds.

    Talk about two trainwrecks meeting.

Also, at least she isn’t out at Lewis-McChord hooking up with some Private or Airman and draining his accounts.

At this point, it’s all about damage control. Her future outside-of-porn career prospects are poor, which leaves her current profession as the only one really left to her. Trouble is, since she stars in these barely-legal films because she looks so young, what happens when she gets older; what, exactly, is the career life-span for pornographic actresses?

  7. Colorado Aled

She makes money giving speeches to campus women’s groups around the country, likely followed by some low-level position at a feminist group before she tries her hand at “performance art” as a thinly veiled excuse to masturbate on stage.

It can be quiet a while, if she stays away from drugs and alcohol. Then there’s cross-over work, work regular movies or tv shows (e.g. Sasha Grey). There is the lecture circuit, but those sort of women are usually oddballs in other ways. (e.g. Annie Sprinkle). The big problem for her will be walking away from the easy money (a few thousand dollars for a few hours of work each week).

RSM, the ‘Game’ websites would simply say that all her talk is simply her “Rationalization Hamster” spinning its wheel at full tilt.

    March 7th, 2014 @ 10:35 am

A “career” that could doubtlessly take her up to 27, maybe 28. What does she do for the next 50 years?

Well, the answer is obvious: change her name, marry some guy with a decent job, and become an ordinary, unknown housewife. A very honorable calling, though one of which the feminists might not completely approve.

It might have been possible to walk away before the Goreacle invented the internet. Further, given her willingness to seek out publicity, it seems unlikely that she can merely disappear into the crowd. More likely, in five years she’ll be the subject of some sort of “Where Are They Now?” feature showing her in horrific circumstances.

A lot of Women’s Studies majors end up as strippers because there are no jobs in their chosen field and they can make good money as strippers. It seems she’s just short-circuited that process and jumped ahead.

    March 7th, 2014 @ 11:04 am

I predict she will drop out of Duke soon. Not because she’s being stigmatized, ostracized or shunned, but for business reasons. A book deal must surely be in the works. Perhaps a true documentary. She’s gorgeous and smart. Has a doctor father suggesting she comes from an upper middle class “decent” family. This is a gold mine. She’ll be a millionaire before she’s 20. Talk about turning lemons into lemonade. I don’t say any of this approvingly, but objectively. I lead my life like a prude by choice: don’t drink, don’t do drugs, don’t visit prostitutes, don’t smoke. But I don’t really blame her. She’s now a celebrity and the society we’ve created obscenely (pun intended) rewards celebrities. We’ve found our new Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. I bet she’s going to cash in. Hugely.

Her future in porn is poor. Very few people do well at porn. Most makes a few bucks, get used up and move on to other careers. A few are hot for a decade, and then do events for a while and eventually retire. And then there are those who spin out of control and crash and burn.

The only thing I “fear” about sexuality is reducing it to nothing more the bodily function, with no more meaning than blowing one’s nose. Pornography is to art involving erotic love as Elvis on velvet is to portraiture.

It’s even worse than it looks:

“So why Duke, of all places? Why didn’t you choose a less costly institution?

MW: I was offered scholarships at a lot of places. I was offered full tuition at Vanderbilt, for example, and was accepted into USC, Wellesley, Barnard, Pepperdine, some others. But I visited Duke last year on Blue Devil Days [Duke’s programmed weekend for admitted freshmen], and I remember walking into the Duke Chapel — I’m a very spiritual person — and just feeling an energy that told me, “This is the place you need to be.” And I felt something in the chapel in that moment that told me that I needed to be here and go to Duke and it was something that would be an amazing experience for me.

Would you still do porn if Duke cost less?

MW: No. If Duke had given me sufficient financial aid, if they had given me the proper resources and made college affordable for my family, I would not have done porn.

This will probably be a minority view…who cares what this woman does to go to college. At the bottom of it all, it’s her CHOICE…so stop the pulpit pounding, and just let it alone. The sad fact is that porn is the only industry that women far out earn men.

I just don’t really care what this woman does to earn the $55k per year she needs for her degree…yawn…’nough said.

Most women in porn make their real money as touring strippers. They get a set amount for appearing, they get $$$ for merchandise sales and so forth. This touring is a grind (ikr) and usually leads to drugs. If for whatever reason she stops by for a visit don’t let her sit on the good furniture.
