Yale Girls Are Sluts

Posted on | March 10, 2014 | 54 Comments

On an elevator in the lobby of the Gaylord National Convention Center during CPAC, I spotted a smiling girl wearing a T-shirt that indicated she was a volunteer for the event. She was carrying a stack of books, and when I commented about this, she explained that she had received them as freebies, distributed in the volunteer room. “Would you like one?” And how could I possibly refuse?

This explains how I got a copy of the 2010 essay collection, Proud to Be Right: Voices of the Next Conservative Generation, edited and with an introduction by Jonah Goldberg. It includes 22 essays by young writers, some of whom you likely already  know —  e.g., Bretbart.com editor Joel Pollak and documentary filmmaker Evan Coyne Maloney —  and others you probably don’t. Nathan Harden is author of God & Sex at Yale and editor of The College Fix, and his essay in Proud to Be Right is entitled “The Girls I Knew at Yale”:

Sex in college exists apart from and, occasionally, as a prelude to love. Many girls engage in sex with the hope that it will lead to “something more.”
At Yale, a guy shows up at a party and meets a new girl. They have a few drinks, nod to the music, ask each other, “What’s your major?” and “What college are you from?” (At Yale, dorms are referred to as “residential colleges.”) Maybe they dance. At this point, if the two are getting along, it is not considered unreasonable for the guy to expect oral sex at the end of the night.
Men, I would argue, do not benefit spiritually or morally from such a promiscuous culture. But women receive the worst end of the bargain. . . .
At Yale, caring about love is a weakness. If a girl resists, doesn’t get with the program and get into bed, another girl will take her place. Expectations are so slanted toward casual hook-ups that any girl who holds out for a meaningful relationship is in danger of being left out altogether. It’s either “friends with benefits” or another Friday night spent alone. As a result, many girls go further and faster sexually than they really want to go. . . .

You can buy the book and read the whole thing, but you see the point: This is not “empowerment.” This is not “autonomy.”

This is desperation, loneliness and peer pressure. And rather than address the underlying personal problems involved in what Nathan Harden calls the “promiscuous culture” on campus, the intellectual class instead offers lectures against “slut-shaming.”

But sluts should be ashamed, because their promiscuity doesn’t only harm them, it also harms other girls by encouraging boys’ expectations of casual drunken hook-ups and “friends with benefits.”

In such a toxic environment, it’s hard to blame college girls who become LUGs (Lesbians Until Graduation) simply to avoid creeps who expect a blow job from any girl who talks to them at a party.

BTW, the girl on the elevator who gave me the book wasn’t from Yale. She was a nice girl from Oregon. Nice girls don’t go to Yale.

Or Cornell, for that matter. And certainly not Duke.

It’s amazing to me that something that used to be considered one of the most “intimate” things you could possibly do with someone has been turned into the equivalent of how dogs say hello.

It’s because College has gone to the dogs of our society, the very animals you would expect to be in a Steinbeck novel set in say, Oklahoma during the Great Depression and “Dustbowl” era …

Well given how expensive Yale is, it only makes sense they throw in willing sex partners to sweeten the experience.

Interesting paragraph and sentence structure there.

Excellent line really. It harms the boys in that they learn unhealthy relations with women (which will cause them issues in the long run) it harms previous generations who have to deal (financially, spiritually, emotionally) with the fallout of promiscuity, it hurts future generations who will have increased numbers in illegitimacy.

In all yes, slut shaming is a needed defense of our society and no two consenting adults is not the beginning and end of the whole matter.

From Dejah Thoris on the Victory Girls: Feminism Gives Me A Headache. It kind of approaches the problem from the other side.

Oh, and Dejah Thoris, from the movie John Carter: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZvinxvZHoZI/T1D7HnLnemI/AAAAAAAAElk/XWlhlVuOCQg/s400/john-carter-still02.jpg

I told my kids long ago that there was no freaking way I would ever spend a cent on tuition, room & board, or bubblegum at any Ivy League school. They have become all that is the worst about modern America.

May God help my one daughter’s friend who went to Yale….

hey, she picked her screen name, I didn’t!

I don’t remember: the green Martians laid eggs, but I didn’t remember if the red Martians did. Of course, I do remember that, in the books, Dejah Thoris and all of the Martians were naked except for their armor. ‘Twas such a disappointment that it wasn’t accurately depicted in the movie.

This “promiscuous culture” at Ivy League schools bears a strong general resemblance to the typical sexual habits of gay males! I wonder if the phenomena are directly related…

Henry Makow is of the opinion that there is a relationship between the two. He doesn’t hesitate to say that even hetero couples getting married and not having kids, with intention, are living a homosexual lifestyle. It’s the sterility of the relationship he points to, not the sexes of the couple.

I think he makes a good point. He’s also very hard on the Playboy lifestyle.

Don’t let it. Makow himself is a Jew and I think he’s bought into some stuff that just ain’t so. There are some Jews that are doing evil (morons like Schumer and simply evil people like George Soros), but by and large, Jews are just as idiotic as any other people and would screw up a one car funeral procession.

We’ve jumped the shark here. The premise is faulty. If I don’t have time for a relationship but I need to get laid occasionally to keep from going completely insane then I would head to the local singles bar where I would probably encounter women who might be in the same situation and looking for a NSA roll in the hay. The fact that they are drinking isn’t going to hurt my chances either. For me to then turn around and proclaim all women sluts because I’m getting lucky in the singles bars would be ludicrous and say a lot more about me than the women I’ve slept with. So what are the author’s observations based on? HIs lounge lizard exploits? Boy talk? So in the highly competitive and pressure packed arena of Yale a young woman has forsaken romance to pursue her dream and on a rare occasion, after exams or whatever, feels the need to decompress by getting well laid and we’re going to throw her into the same trash bin as the dildo wielding lesbian, hawt teacher pedos and the Duke porn hole? I promise I won’t be reading Leisure Suit Larry’s rip off of Buckley’s masterpiece. I doubt there are a lot of women doing well at Yale who sleep around all over the place. On the other hand, there are probably a lot of guys there completely lacking in any charm or social graces who have no other recourse than to attend parties where the women are drinking, if they want to get laid. Now, who is more likely right?

I know that in my past I was a horndog and engaged in sex with a wide variety of women, both young and not so young, mostly one night stands, often never getting past first names. Being that I was always a horny bastard I was ever in pursuit of female company. But I never compromised my rudimentary modesty or flawed morals by even thinking of doing porn. It was just completely out of the question. Yeah the money is good but that would be a step so far beyond any morals that I could not take that step. Funny how a guy that had no problem posing as a retired General to gain billions in contracts from the Kuwaiti royal family, that scammed numerous other folks, that engaged in so many lies and scams actually had a sense of morals at all. But I did and do. As I’ve grown older and hopefully wiser, I see that I did have a line I would not cross. I nearly lost my soul in pursuit of filthy lucre. Finding my way back from perdition has been a difficult time (emotionally and spiritually) and a daily effort to not allow myself to slip into old ways. I don’t envy this young lady her lightbulb moment (nor any of our younger generation) nor the painful lesson that comes for us all. All I can do is pray that they come to the senses sooner rather than later before permanent damage is done. Being a living example of that damage I can but speak out and pray. Yes, my life is a testiment to stupidity and self-destructiveness that harmed many folks through no fault of their own. Thanks Kirby for inspiring me to mount my soapbox.
    YMMV
