The Gay Rights Revenge Movement?

Posted on | April 21, 2014 | 75 Comments

Remember when Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich was fired for donating to California’s Prop 8, which prohibited same-sex marriage? Turns out that there were thousands of people who gave as much as or more than Eich gave, and an MSNBC panelist says gay-rights activists are willing to pursue a campaign of scorched-earth retaliation against them:

Here’s a disturbing thing. I did ask some of my gay activist friends, I was like, “Look, here’s a list; 6,500 people gave the same amount that he did or more in California. Should we go down the list and sort of start targeting all these people?” And I asked this facetiously, and people were like, “Let’s do it. Let’s find out where those people live.” It’s all . . . To me, that’s a disturbing level of targeting people.

Read the whole thing at Newsbusters. As I have frequently pointed out lately, a Gallup poll found that only 3.4% of Americans “identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.” All the gay hoopla in media, in schools and in politics involves less than 4% of the population.

The gay tail is wagging the 96% majority dog.

After the reprisals against Prop 8 supporters in 2008, I explained (“Gay Rights, Gay Rage,” The American Spectator, Nov. 17, 2008) how the phenomenon of “rights talk” was causing this bizarre mania. There is no precedent in our Constitution nor in the Anglo-American common law tradition of making gay sex the basis of “rights,” but the fanatical enthusiasm of gay activists — and the dissemination of their propaganda by news media, academia and popular culture — have convinced many people that opposition to this movement can only be explained by hateful prejudice.

When a lie is repeated often enough — especially when those repeating it are esteemed “experts” and popular public figure — anyone who dares to call it a lie is certain to be unpopular. Your right to free speech then becomes your right to remain silent. Unpopular though the truth may be, however, it is still the truth. The truth of this matter is that the legitimate rights of gay people were not being infringed prior to 2003 (when Massachusetts became the first state to recognize same-sex marriage) and the movement that accomplished this revolution is not actually about “rights” anyway.

Glittering generalities — Equality! and Progress! — are invoked to stifle skepticism and thwart logical inquiry as to the motives and methods of the radical movement. You will be denounced as a “hater” if you suggest that all this Equality and Progress are leading to a destination that proverbially awaits at the end of a road paved with good intentions.

Are not those who march under the filthy rag of sodom a political movement? A primitive, counter-family, counter-Christian political movement?

Romney’s PAC donated 10K to NOM. The media knew this, and I believe this is why they were so utterly one-sided. Of course, the NOM records of the Romney donation came from illegally leaked tax returns (a felony) by the IRS.

“All the gay hoopla in media, in schools and in politics involves less than 4% of the population. — The gay tail is wagging the 96% majority dog.”

You do realize that the majority of the public supports the LGBT community, otherwise none of these civil rights issues would be possible, right? How else can you explain how 3 states voted for marriage equality through referendum? …or how the last dozen polls have shown that a majority of the populous supports marriage equality? …or how every single federal judge (since the SCOTUS DOMA verdict) has ruled against state bans on same-sex marriage? The federal judge in Ohio summed it up nicely, “The ban on same-sex marriage is staggeringly devoid of any legitimate justification for the state’s ongoing arbitrary discrimination.”

“There is no precedent in our Constitution nor in the Anglo-American common law tradition of making gay sex the basis of “rights”…”

The fact that you think that sex and sexual orientation are the same thing speaks volumes. This has to do with liberty and freedom for all Americans, regardless of their sexual orientation. Nothing to do with sex at all. Sex between consenting adults is already a protected right. SCOTUS ruled on that a decade ago.

Society is not obligated to tolerate your intolerance. I also don’t recall gay people passing laws against straight people… or refusing to do business with them because they’re straight… or firing them because they’re straight… or beating them up because they’re straight. So who exactly are the bullies again?

Please explain where the right exists to change the definition of a word? This has absolutely nothing to do with doing anything. This has everything to do with destroying an institution by demanding that society celebrate and approve it, millenia of practice notwithstanding.

Speaking as someone who supported “civil unions” since the 90s — when the gay vanguard didnt even want THAT as being “to straight” — your quest for “rights” stopped being that when your fellow thugs started intruding on the rights of others. Suing someone for not wanting to take part in a gay “marriage” was the first warning sign; the post Prop 8 Maoism was the capper.

I do not see how the rare gay bashing makes it acceptable for gays to be thugs

You would do all of those things if you were not 3.4% of the population. And, btw, you (gays) have done some of them (refusing to do business with companies that oppose gay marriage, trying to get businesses closed down, interfering with a person’s right to earn a living (Eich)). What a hypocrite you are.

It was science – SCIENCE! – that tagged homosexuality as a mental illness. Any laws built on that throughout the 20th Century were saying that an activity brought about by a mental illness should not be legal.

Let them go ahead and do that – the cure to this malady is to allow anonymous political donations again. Don’t think a better case could be made for rolling back current campaign finance laws. They can always scream “Koch” – they do tend to like “Koch”.

  24. Phil Snyder

David – all homosexuals have always had the right to get married. They have had that right for as long as marriage has existed. Any gay man can marry any woman who will consent to get married to him (within state law about polygamy and incestuous unions etc.). Any gay woman can marry any man who consents to get married to her.

What you are doing now is changing the very definition of “marriage” from “one man and one woman” to “two (for now) people.” You are seeking, not equality, but special privilege – and you are being very intolerant of anyone who disagrees with you for whatever reason.

The old liberal line was “I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

Now the new, “progressive” line is “Conformity is diversity. Persecution is tolerance. Exclusion is inclusion. Hate is love.”

  25. Quartermaster

SCOTUS ignored the law to make that “ruling.” They just keep churning out new “Dred Scott” without end. All they have done is delegitimize themselves.

The extreme narcissism found within the homosexual population pushes many of them to the fringe of society… either on their own initiative or in response to their actions by society at large.

This means that among the politically aware of this subset of the population take to extreme political views and parties, hence the large number of homosexuals in fascist, communist and related parties.

The speed with which homosexuality has been normalized is amazing. Until 1973, the American Psychiatric Association classified homosexuality as a “mental disorder”. When I was getting an undergrad degree in the early ’80s, I needed a sociology credit and so I took a course called “Social Deviance”. We spent some time talking about homosexuality as one of many types of social deviancy. However, I distinctly remember the prof saying that he may soon have to amend the course because after the Stonewall riots that gave rise to the “homosexual rights movement”, attitudes about homosexuality were changing rapidly (talk about an uderstatement). After graduation, I went to work for IBM, and in the mid ’90s IBM became the second major publicly traded “Fortune 500” company in the country, after Microsoft, to begin offering “domestic partnership” benefits to partners of IBMers who were homosexual. Effectively treating homosexual couples the same way IBM treated heterosexual, married couples. Obviously, that was well before any state had even come close to legitimizing gay marriage.
So in 1973 it was a mental disorder. By 2003, 30 years later, homosexuals can walk into a church and have their union blessed by the clergy, before God, and walk out with the most sacred and honorable status a couple in our society can have: a legally married couple. Remarkable.

Sure, look at law passed after Matt Shepherd died. I suppose the GayTM expects a murderer to be injected twice, or fried extra crispy. Look at the employment laws, and the other laws on the books that give the GLBT special rights and favors above all others – denial of anything is a hate crime, especially the twin denials of acceptance and celebration of homosexuality. If Gays didn’t have the law behind them, they couldn’t act in a vengeful manner.

  37. DaveO
    April 21st, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

No, the majority of folks don’t want to be destroyed individually. All’s it takes is a few reminders: men like Eich who followed their conscience and who were subsequently and hereafter destroyed. And it is not just straight men and women. Look at what happened to Matt Sanchez. Viciously outed by the gay community, his career was ended. Look at the community of outed gay actors and actresses: how many of them will get a romantic lead portraying a hetero man or woman? Their careers were changed for them because it was more important for GLBT community spokesfolk to out them and claim them as one of their own. Destruction is what the GLBT community knows, it is what binds them together, and they do not recognize any boundary.

The GLBT movement conducted an extremely successful campaign of domestic terrorism. As we see today in the Eich matter, the GLBT leaders have never given up domestic terrorism. “In 1971, gay rights activist Frank Kameny worked with the Gay Liberation Front collective to demonstrate against the APA’s convention. At the 1971 conference, Kameny grabbed the microphone and yelled, “Psychiatry is the enemy incarnate. Psychiatry has waged a relentless war of extermination against us. You may take this as a declaration of war against you.'” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diagnostic_and_Statistical_Manual_of_Mental_Disorders
