No, Actually, You Don’t

Posted on | December 22, 2014 | 70 Comments

So I was 3,000 words into a book chapter about feminism and took a break. Someone called my attention to this:

“girls want sex just as much as guys do, we’re just taught
that we should be ashamed of it rather than proud.”

Don’t know who the original source is for this asinine claim, but it’s been shared nearly 60,000 times on Tumblr, which tells me that many young fools actually believe this dangerous nonsense.

There is abundant research about the differences in male and female sex drives, even if ordinary common sense did not tell us so.

Long before scientists were able to demonstrate the influence of testosterone in male sexual behavior, the greater urgency of male sex drive was widely understood as a fact of human nature. Only the egalitarian ideology of feminism could cause anyone to believe that “girls want sex just as much as guys do.” This is simply not true, as anyone might discover if they cared about scientific evidence or, alternatively, if they would bother asking males about it.

Really, let any man recall how it was to be a teenage boy, caught in the overpowering grasp of that adolescent testosterone surge. Every teenage boy is a potential crime wave and only the most stringent discipline and social restraints can prevent him from running completely amok, wreaking havoc as a result of his chaotic impulses.

Feminists have spent so long trying to convince us males and females are “equal” — meaning that they are basically the same — that some people have apparently begun to believe this is really true, but it’s not. Anyone who makes feminism the basis of their choices is in for a rude awakening the first time they encounter the reality of human nature.

“A Lesbian Theory of the Penis” — that’s the best way to understand feminist beliefs about male sexuality. They begin by excluding from consideration anything a normal man might tell them about sex, and next exclude anything normal women might tell them about male sexual behavior, so that in the end what feminists claim to “know” about men and sex is just lesbian propaganda. Asking a feminist for advice about men is like asking a Nazi for advice on how to get along with Jews.

Well, far be it from me to disagree with stats but the idea women have to be globally coerced into sex by wheedling men doesn’t reflect my own experience in life. If women are diffident about sex it is because they get pregnant and men don’t. There can be zero consequences for men in that situation. Aside from that, when women are certain of birth control they seem to me to be just as randy as men.

I don’t recall any plantive whining from me that went “Oh, c’mon – pleeeeaassss???”

It rather more went like total strangers spanking me in college hallways, pinching me at bars, two separate strange (and hot) women neighbors knocking at my door in just one apt. building, one coming in and laying her head on my lap when we sat down on the couch.

Then there was the Dutch backpacker in a foreign city I barely knew and future lover who announced in front of a circle of us she was determined to hang out with me and get to know me. There was the native woman I’d shared a boat ride with in a foreign country who somehow found my hotel afterwards on virtually no information.

There was the woman I met in a foreign city by being given her phone number by her friend in America and on the first night an American thought we’d known each other for years and that was that.

There was the woman in yet another country (a model) who followed me and a buddy in our taxi based on a glimpse of us. She stopped, I jumped out and got in her car. That was that.

There was the (hot) guide on a hike in that same country. She came on to me before the 3 day hike was over and we’re making out in our sleeping bags.

I could go on. Far from being elusive and shy women are extremely aggressive and I have found them so since they and I were teenagers. I am not one for pick up lines and am awkward at trying to hit on women and have never really done so. Luckily women are like air – they’re just there. I’ve met backpackers, 2 guys I especially recall, who had beautiful girlfriends and none spoke the other’s language. I asked how they communicated and the guys just smiled and and one said “Oh, we communicate,” the hot chick hugging him glanced at me with a smile. You don’t even need frickin’ words!!!

And I haven’t mentioned my much more handsome buddy who women literally swooned over everywhere we went. He had these Paul Newman eyes and it seemed every woman wanted to bake him a pie and hug him. One time on a bus in a foreign country some woman who was alone came up to him, ignored me and that was that.

It wasn’t just me. With the guys I’ve known, almost none of whom were pick-artists, I was par for the course. My short, ugly best friend with a big nose and a big birthmark scar on his face picked up an amazing amount of women, over 100 in a year or two he told me. But that guy admittedly had the gift of gab. He only did that for a couple years and then settled down at 22.

I think it is fair that women can like sex as much as men, in the right context…but it is not comparable as apples to apples. There is a big difference between like and want. There are just so many variables–emotions alone– that are different that you cannot compare the two subjective views of the topic.

Interestingly enough, many of the sexual predator women want sex, but usually in some of of deviant way.

Any one who denies that both men and women have a sex drive is damn foolish. The whole pleasure thing- it’s there to make sure that we want to have children.

The difference is that it’s defined differently, usually. in that women stereotypically, want high status men, and men prefer more numerous women. There in lies the rub.

It’s really all about how one’s own DNA is most successfully propagated—men and women necessarily must have different strategies—and humans, being social creatures, have to consider the group, etc. It’s why institutions like marriage exist in all cultures: It maintains a semblance of order and a moral ideal, and (mostly) meets everyone’s needs!

I mean, how times a day are you good for? Once or twice, maybe a couple more on a good day? I suppose an average woman, given enough fresh partners, could copulate pretty much continuously—or so I’m told! (I denounce myself, etc…) Yet a man could potentially make hundreds, if not thousands, of offspring in a life time; a woman—maybe a dozen or so—YMMV…

To be fair Stacy. I think you have missed the biggest point to be gleaned from this link.

The main point is; feminists hold a range of contradictory views on sexuality. Their view on sexuality depends on which part of the ‘patriarchy’ they want to attack. You have a view of men as a plague of racists (PiV is rape, rape epidemic etc.) and the view that women are groomed into heterosexuals (the Disney princess thing). In contrast to this you have views that male and female sexuality is the same and they see opposition to this as the imposition of patriarchal social standards.

As a rule, feminists will only claim that there are significant differences between men and women when they can use it to shame men.

As always, in the leftist mind, self-control = “ashamed.”

And I don’t get the bit about being “proud.” Proud? Isn’t sex just another bodily function to them? Are they proud to eat? Are they proud to sleep? Are they proud to urinate?

I’m sick of the left’s obsession with sex. It consumes their every waking moment. It is at the forefront of their thoughts when they vote. It’s a mania.

    Gotta disagree with this McCain,
“Every teenage boy is a potential crime wave and only the most stringent discipline and social restraints can prevent him from running completely amok, wreaking havoc as a result of his chaotic impulses.”
Yeah, I agree with the FACT that a teenage boy would stick his dick in anything that vaguely resembles a vagina (overwhelmingly his own hand) if left to make sense of his own world only. But most people (including boys) learn right from wrong with only mediocre/lapse instruction.
The sense that each individual has their own individuality/ego/space is part of becoming a person. This mainly as a toddler reaching for anothers toy etc when the other wishes to keep it as their own. Watch toddlers interact without supervision & their sense of possession is self evident.
Therefore a boy does not live in a vacuum of self. We are social creatures & MOST learn altruistic/healthy social interaction by osmosis mainly.
Of course, if that osmosis is based in abuse it’s a completely different story.

Well, a cancer can actually increase the overall body mass before dragging the host down to push up daisies. I think you could make a case for comparing Tumblr and /b/ as incubators for occasional forays into mass harassment of other places, which would discourage normal people from participating in the internet as much as they would otherwise. It’s a bit of a stretch to call that “killing” but it’s a metaphor, some license has to be granted.

Apologies for the over-analysis, but since I couldn’t help thinking it anyway, I figured it would be a waste to not post it. (I know that doesn’t make sense, but it explains a lot about Tumblr… which was the topic… so… I’m being meta! Yeah. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.)

If I had to choose between two histories of spyplanes — one by a Mr. Y that has no interest in the overarching purpose (but loves airplanes and flies his own all the time), and one by a Ms. X that possibly hates espionage even more than she hates flying — I would choose the one by the guy that loves planes. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing.

Although to be fair, I can relate somewhat. Women get lonely too and search out for companionship, even if they suspect that it may only lead to a one night stand.

Several times in my ‘single’ years, I’ve been approached by women in bars, but I wouldn’t embellish the tale by calling any of them “hot” or models,( although one was a hand model.) They were just average looking women out looking for average looking men to hook up with.

I don’t think that the quote is intensely stupid as much as it poorly defined; women want romance as much as men want sex, and romance normally leads to sex. They are, at bottom, the same thing, but the desires manifest themselves differently in (most) men and (most) women.

  34. Dana

The One Real Truth that men need to know is that, starting around age 45, if a man looks like he’d be reasonably competent in bed — and yes, women take that judgement based on our looks all the time — he’s suddenly going to find himself with more women around who want to copulate with him than he ever dreamed of when he was 20. That’s the age at which a whole bunch of women have finally discarded a husband of whom they were tired, or have husbands that they don’t want to leave for other reasons, but have stopped taking care of business in the bedroom, just as they’re going through menopause, are seeing their kids move out of the house, and are just plain getting hornier.

And the corollary to that One Real Truth is this: men, if you aren’t taking care of business with your wife, someone else will be.

I had a talk with a friend of my teenagers the other day. She comes to me sometimes because her own mother is a bar-hopping cougar who can’t bear to be reminded that she’s not 25 anymore. Anyway, the girl keeps going out with guys who never call her back and can’t imagine why. When I suggested that she stop sleeping with them, you’d have thought I told her to stop breathing or something. This girl is 19 years old and no one has ever told her to just keep her pants on; just keep giving it out till she runs across someone who doesn’t mind being 45th in line.

Years ago, I saw Larry Miller doing a standup routine where he discussed the differences between men and women in this regard:

“I’ve heard women say ‘Well, women have sexual feelings, too!’ ::vigorous head shake:: It’s like the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing one.
Have you ever seen women at a strip club? They’re laughing and cheering and having fun. It’s like a girls’ night out. Now compare that to men at a strip club. It’s like lions watching a herd of elk.”

Most men want numerous “hot” women with no constraints. Which is also a rub, as even the Pharaohs had to contend with the political hornet’s nest of their various wives advocating that their son should be the next Pharaoh. These politics sometimes led to the downfall of the Pharaoh (or see, e.g., Phillip II of Macedon).

Women want an emotional bond with a man (sex being part of that emotional bond). Men rarely start with the emotional part (although as part of love it may come in time).
