The Social Justice Lynch Mob

Posted on | March 27, 2015 | 61 Comments

Ashe Schow demolishes the Obama Age media:

The point here is that in example after example, the prevailing narrative sold by the media and social justice activists has been disproven after an investigation of the facts. When it comes down to it, it’s cheap and easy for Obama to say something in public to show solidarity with popular opinion. But having to back up that same popular opinion in a legal proceeding . . . is often impossible.

(Hat-tip: Instapundit.)

Whenever I see the liberal media jumping to a particular conclusion, my instinct is that the opposite must be true. Whenever I see the liberal media ignoring a story, I figure that story must be very important. Is it possible that the liberal media sometimes might be correct about one of these “social justice” narratives? Hypothetically, I suppose, but you’re seldom going to lose money betting against them.

Meanwhile, Christian Adams offers an important media parable.

Don’t you dare say anything sexist about Hillary (at least near a sewer opening in a small town in Maine or possibly New Hampshire)!

Why did he leave out Obama backing up those phony rape statistics before the DOJ changed them back to reality?

Here’s SJW reality: Zimmerman stalked and murdered Trayvon Martin because he was black and Zimmerman felt he himself was unofficially white. Zimmerman got away with it because whites recognized his unofficial white status because whites stalk and kill young black men all the time. For some reason the white supremacy doesn’t kill Latinos.

Wilson gunned down Mike Brown because Wilson is a member of the KKK who doesn’t take backtalk from blacks. The KKK covered for Wilson.

Men cheer on criminal rape in case they want to rape women themselves. It helps keep the wife on her toes and women in line in general.

Is “First Female President” a sexist phrase? Because if so, the left is all going to be in trouble if she does win. They won’t even be able to divisively celebrate her non-historic victory.

I did this post on my blog yesterday about the Forbidden Hillary Words: http://www.constantinoplenotistanbul.com/2015/03/the-forbidden-words/

I managed to use them all in a single run on sentence:

The entitled, over confident, out of touch Hillary Clinton,
considered the inevitable Democrat nominee for President, who will do anything to win in her ambitious, polarizing, calculating and disingenuous campaign, has threatened reporters to not use pretty much most of the words in this sentence in a manner which represents the past of fascism.

Figure I’ll be in one of those Hillary “Adult Fun Camps” if she’s elected.

It’s interesting to speculate how much of this is driven by ideology versus how much is driven by the perceived necessity of getting the story out there now, now, now in order to be relevant in the modern media age. We do know the times when newspaper reporters spent weeks on a single important story have pretty much disappeared, but there was a day when editors gave more leeway provided the story was big enough and accuracy was an absolute premium.

The shift in the media has brought us where we are. Ideology and speed reign supreme to the detriment of truth. Sadly, corrections are lost in the fog of “the next big thing,” which, alas, plays into the hands of those who are ideologically driven. They can nominally correct bad reporting, but no one hears it, so who cares.

In general, sure. In this particular case, the rape was supposed to have occurred in 2012. And there were no other outlets running the story… So the time pressure excuse doesn’t really work.

“lost in the fog” is a euphemism for buried and forgotten. The fact of the matter, and this is probably more obvious with the racial hype than the feminist stuff, is they’re deliberately making people angry, driving wedges between them. Imagine being a black man that’s been told his entire life that white people are the reason he lives in poverty, that they deliberately created this mess. It doesn’t matter that you rarely interact with white people in a month’s period. It’s what you were taught. Then you see something like the Michael Brown shooting and you BELIEVE it. You KNOW the cops are out to get blacks because they’re out to get YOU and you’re black. (Never mind that you also might be a criminal.) And all of a sudden, this fairly open and shut case is turned around and the justice you thought was going to happen for the young, dead black guy you empathize with is stolen. And somehow the system flipped it on you again. And everyone is racist and still out to get you. And the media does all of this on purpose and it embitters people against one another and hypes up these social wars for no better reason than to get votes. It’s disgusting.

Of course, when Bush was in charge the left would go on — not unreasonably, I would add — about the need for due process even when trying alleged terrorists, how precious our hard-fought freedoms are, how we need to take care not to trade in an essential freedom for a little extra security.
But, try making the same suggestions about trying alleged rapists, and you’ll be shouted down by hysterical accusations of rape apologia before you can even say “Double standards”.

“The point here is that in example after example, the prevailing narrative sold by the media and social justice activists has been disproven after an investigation of the facts.”

I am convinced that the media (and Leftists in general) deliberately push stories that will collapse in order to motivate the Democrat base.

If these rape cases or white on black shooting cases were legitimate, the perp would end up in jail shortly which would short circuit their “injustice” routine, there is no way to demagogue the issue. They need these cases to collapse in order to claim that the object of hate “got away with it”. So they ignore any case of obvious injustice because if the police handle it they get no credit, while knowingly pushing bogus cases in order to turn out their base for whatever reason is necessary at the moment.

re: Adams article, I was hoping that movie was about the X-Men character.

I don’t hold out much hope for the media, new or otherwise. I’ve seen too many cases where the new media has failed us in the past decade. Mostly this failure comes from allowing the left to frame the debate and choose the terms used.

But historically, people who had a printing press have always had to deal with the temptation to shape events rather than simply “report” on them. It’s worth looking up Ben Harris and James T. Callender to see that a sense of restraint has rarely been the problem of folks in the media.

Intersectionalism takes no prisoners. At some point gay men who are white should’ve realized not only that but that they are men. This is a game show called “The Greatest Victim” and it is driven by sociopaths eager to claim the highest moral ground via the highest intersections of victim points.

There was approximately a nanosecond between the last major SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage — generally interpreted as dooming all the state bans — and articles and comments about (or even by) gay white men, lamenting their “privilege.”

  35. Daniel Freeman
    March 28th, 2015 @ 12:02 am

This is a tangent, but going even further back, people with a printing press generally needed business from regular folks that wanted something printed up. The British governors of the colonies practiced a soft censorship on political screeds by keeping the rules vague, so that individual printers would keep their rules strict, in order to keep from having that expensive machine that put food in their kids’ mouths from being confiscated.

In its historical context, the First Amendment was intended to protect the Revolutionary equivalent of bloggers. When the internet was younger, there was a push to class individuals performing online political advocacy as making “in-kind” campaign donations, and to force them to fill out the paperwork and follow the limits. It was defeated because the “press” isn’t really about the printer; it’s about the writer.

But that’s just a tangent, because a publisher is a whole different beast.

In the Soviet Union, the government took over the press, rooted out those who wouldn’t follow the government line, and then enforced that with brutal precision, punishing those who didn’t say the right thing.

In this country, the press voluntarily gave up the 1st Amendment right they were given and became Pravda and Izvestia. Why? I guess ideology trumps freedom of there press. I guess they feel it’s much more important that political ideas are advanced than corruption be uncovered. Hillary Clinton would never get away with deleting government records if we had a free press.
