Is the ‘Male Feminist’ Cuckold a Hoax?

Posted on | July 20, 2015 | 141 Comments

Of course, somebody called my attention to the New York Magazine story by “Michael Sonmore” (obviously a pseudonym) who uses feminist arguments to rationalize his wife’s adultery in their “open marriage.” I commented briefly on Twitter but wanted to ignore the story because (a) yuck, and (b) I suspect the story is a hoax. Like Rolling Stone‘s UVA rape hoax, “Michael Sonmore” tells a narrative that is too perfect in its exposition of feminist themes. For example, “Sonmore” describes himself as “an economically dependent househusband coping with the withering drudgery of child-rearing.” Really? Here is a guy in his 30s who is quite obviously well-educated, yet he is “economically dependent”? Times are hard, maybe, but surely they’re not that hard. Maybe a guy with a liberal arts degree can’t find work in whatever field he considers his specialty, but he can still work, right? Well, “Sonmore” tells us, he chose this dependency: “I quit working to stay at home with the kids,” which he describes as his “total withdrawal from the economy and the traditional sources of masculine identity.” See? Too perfect.

If a story seems too good to be true, it’s probably not true, and I suspect “Sonmore” is a hoax designed to elicit reaction — particularly, sexist reactions from men — which will then be cited as proof of what misogynistic pigs men really are. And here’s your big clue that the editors are pulling our collective leg:

She didn’t present it as an issue of feminism to me, but after much soul-searching about why the idea of my wife having sex with other men bothered me I came to a few conclusions: Monogamy meant I controlled her sexual expression, and, not to get all women’s-studies major about it, patriarchal oppression essentially boils down to a man’s fear that a woman with sexual agency is a woman he can’t control. We aren’t afraid of their intellect or their spirit or their ability to bear children. We are afraid that when it comes time for sex, they won’t choose us. This petty fear has led us as a culture to place judgments on the entire spectrum of female sexual expression: If a woman likes sex, she’s a whore and a slut; if she only likes sex with her husband or boyfriend, she’s boring and lame; if she doesn’t like sex at all, she’s frigid and unfeeling. Every option is a trap.

OK, that’s the point at which I called “bullshit” on this story. Whose “sexual agency” is “controlled” by monogamy? Both partners are equally obligated to fidelity in marriage, but to suggest that this is “patriarchal oppression” driven by “a man’s fear” of “a woman he can’t control” is a psychological projection, a reversal of reality.

It is the male’s (relatively) greater sexual independence — a natural fact of biology — that has been the underlying source of feminist resentment for more than four decades. Anyone who believes otherwise is deluded, and so we must ask, could there actually be a “Michael Sonmore,” a man so thoroughly brainwashed by feminist theory that he can’t see through this ideological falsehood?

It’s possible, perhaps. But this recitation of feminist jargon — “patriarchal oppression” and all that — is simply too perfect.

Ace of Spades calls our attention to the implicit racial context of this story. The wife is hooking up with “Paolo”? Too perfect.

UPDATE: Great minds think alike:

Never underestimate feminists’ infinite capacity for deception. Feminism is like a gigantic Ziggurat of Hatred built entirely of lies.

Thing is, I’ve read worse. A British evolutionary psychologist (not Richard Dawkins), argued that cuckolded men should not look too closely at the activities of their wives, because they were getting sexual access to them and had a chance to pass up their genes. In an actual, serious scientific work.

So, I understand that the use of literary devices makes the work suspicious. But reality can be even worse.

Is it a coincidence that this parallels the basic plot of “Husbands and Lovers,” even down to the name ‘Paolo’? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105755/

Feminists and progressives have parroted the line that monogamy is patriarchal. And I suppose polygamy must be hyper-patriarchal, or something.

They are now introducing and advertising “polyamory” as some supposedly egalitarian, mutual, and reciprocal arrangement wherein all parties concerned may freely seek sexual interaction elsewhere with other persons without restriction or recrimination from the other(s). Of course, this is a lie.

So called “polyamory” is usually polyandry in practice. It is not a practice of two people seeking and achieving commensurate sexual license. At the “heart” of a “polyamorous” arrangement is usually a promiscuous female and a submissive male. What usually drives it is the female person wanting more encounters and couplings for herself. But she still wants her original male partner on standby to provide economic, emotional, and other support, though she mostly prefers to copulate with people other than him.

Of course, theoretically, the man is free to seek his own free sexual encounters outside of the relationship. However, if a man is at the point where he will submit to being openly cuckolded like this, something tells me he does not have some host of eager females awaiting his favor. My guess is that such men who agree to this think that they cannot do any better and that they may as well accept being some kind of discounted, demoted, auxiliary “partner” rather than being an actual husband.

Feminist cheerleaders for “polyamory” state that the primary drivers of these arrangements are bisexual women. They openly argue that the point of polyamory is to condition men to surrender and abandon any sense of exclusivity or claim within marriage or family. When they see their wife cavorting with another person, they are not allowed to be angry or even resentful about it. They have to grin and bear it. And when their wives openly produce bastards with these other people, these good compliant cuckolds must happily support these children as if they were their own. And if these cuckolded men ever actually have any biological children of their own, they must permit these other men/partners to have access to their own children too, because apparently they are just as equal as parents as they are partners or spouses.

“Let’s tell the truth: as a househusband, he has the opportunity to meet the housewives”

That is true. But is it likely or frequent that these bored housewives will be inclined to whore with him? I am sure there are exceptions, but how attractive would these women find an unemployed, kept man?

But, *who* is “the government”? It is men who hate normal men, man whose get-and-maintain their social status, to say nothing of their wealth, by oppressing normal men with the threat of government violence.
    ?
Hell! It wasn’t even the crazy cat-women who *started* feminism; they just ran with it after it was up and running. It was a certain type of man who started feminism and initially imposed it on us.

The “strong, independent women” of this world can’t do a damned thing without *men* to enforce their “strong, independent” choices.

100% agreement on this. I’d say this is going to become the Next New (Immoral) Thing by the end of the year. In fact, I was saying it even before the SCOTUS ill-conceived, poorly thought out, slippery slope SS marriage decision.

After that will come incestuous marriage. Then the age of consent will sharply drop or be eliminated altogether. Once the “child bride” threshold is crossed, then comes the wink-wink, nudge-nudge Sgt. Schultz pederasty. You know, the Kinsey-esque “The baby likes it when I…” excuses.

Meanwhile, since we evidently don’t mind baby murder either, next we’ll see legalized assisted suicide and voluntary euthanasia, followed by involuntary euthanasia and post-birth “abortion”.

“O son of the devil, full of all guile and of all cunning, hostile to all righteousness, will you not stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?” (Acts 13:10).

It reads like a woman wrote it, but it is possible that it is some poor man raised by his divorced mother and her girlfriend he called Uncle Susie. So he was easy pickings in his required women’s studies class in college where he met his future wife and now suffers from some sort of PTSD and Stockholm syndrome

Yeah they have been working on this one for a while. There was a sudden explosion of “heart warming human interest” stories on polyamory and “it’s time for polyamory” think pieces after Windsor came down in 2013. Then another one after this year’s SCOTUS decision. It has always been next up (I found newsletters from LGBT agitator groups from the 90s saying as much) they are just getting more open about it as the moment approaches.

By “thuggish” did you mean “mental”? Whoever that nuthatch is it’s obvious people who work with it have learned not to look it directly in the eye. Remember this the next time you hear about a transgender being “beaten up.” Turns out transgender have big mouths like anyone else. If I’d have socked that punk it wouldn’t have been because they were transgendered but because they lay their hands on me and threatened me.

Well, it tells us that it’s operated by persons who
have abandoned actual journalism to practice
a combo-platter of agitprop, infotainment and
distraction. I refer to these sort of pseudo-
journalists as “presstitutes”, since they’re all
too eager to sell out their ethics to service
    their preferred narrative. Sadly, presstitutes
are increasingly common in what once was
    journalism.

OK, maybe you’re too young for this, but when I was in school, I think junior high, they had these plastic resin (I guess) balls…two of them…with a string between. The idea was to hold the string in the middle, move your wrist up and down fast, which would cause these enormously hard resin balls, probably a couple inches in diameter to move up and down along an arc on either side of your hand, and hit together loudly at the top and bottom of the arc.

They were called “clackers”. We played with them in school before they put a stop to it, because they had a way of flying out of kid’s hands and breaking stuff, including other kids’ heads. I don’t know if they still make them or not.

That is totally messed up. It’s so messed up, that the ex-wife’s own parents gave money to the ex-husband so he could fight their daughter for custody of the kid. But the court thought it was better for a pair of lesbians to have custody of a child than his own non-psychotic father. And we see the result. Nice.

Yeah a lot of people assume the primary beneficiaries of polyamory will be stereotypical “alpha male jock types” but it’s quite the opposite. It’s awful screwed up women who are horrible at wifeing, and to some extent unappealing nerd type men who find themselves suddenly able to amass a harem of basket case bisexual females who are psychologically damaged goods. Jocks don’t even make an appearance on the radar in the whole “scene.”

Internet pseudonymity had a good run, but it’s nearing the end of its practical life. In the long run, it’s always easier to destroy.

On the plus side, a whole bunch of hypocrites will be exposed. On the down side, deviance will be normalized, which it already is so no diff. On the other plus side, it will defang the SJW tactic of getting people fired for thoughtcrimes.

I have no sympathy for oathbreakers, and the inevitable mass doxing coming down the road could be a net positive, so I have no issue with this kind of event.
