    I love America, Amazon, capitalism, freedom, greed, the whole works, all right. But I don’t plan on buying any Sony gear, though. I don’t think they’ve ever grokked the magnitude, the mindnumbing stupidity of putting rootkits on their CDs, and badly-written copyright-infringing code at that.     I clicked through and bought a copy of Lisbon and a book about Hedy Lamarr-didn’t really get any confirmation that you’d get credit. If you have a second, could you take a look?

    US citizens have, over time, become more and more like a talk show audience to be emotionally manipulated, and less and less like a nation’s people [See: How
    Republicans are being taught to talk about Occupy Wall Street     &  American vs International News ].

    Billy Bragg tries to align himself with the people he calls “progressive patriots”, hoping that some idea of criticism of what is happening in the US will stop being seen as an attack on the US.

    There is no free press in the US, or anywhere else for that matter. Every media outlet is owned by corporate magnates. The idea of freelancing reporters digging out ugly truths and reporting to the public freely is a myth. Reporters can only report what their employers allow. The internet is the only free zone and it’s under assault because freedom of inf. is a menace to those who hold power to benefit themselves.

    Language since its invention has been used to control. Culture, religion, folklore, education, and art had been used always to control the populace. Nothing new about that.

    The republicans have turned a new page only because they have dropped the pretense to walk the walk in place. They realized that that is not needed. Talking the talk is enough to fool 51% of the people all the time.
