28 Years Of Obama? All Too Conceivable

“A man in Albuquerque has registered his dog to vote. Apparently the dog likes the current administration but he’s not sure he wants another 28 years of Obama.”
Conan O’Brien

Sure, it’s served as a jape, but consider: given the anti-American and anti-Constitutional blather as has come from #OccupyResoluteDesk these three years, why does anyone think he’d stop at two terms?

The thesis of this presidency seems to be that America is done, and he’s here to stick a fork in it. Maybe BHO’s creepy support for Mel Zelaya in ’09 was an early tell. If, per PJ O’Rourke, 2010 was not an election, but rather a restraining order, then 2012 is an impeachment:

Update: noted atheist Bill Quick poo-poohs the notion: “But Obama is not Satan incarnate, despite the GOP’s attempts to portray him as such, so as to make their own s**t sandwiches look all the more appetizing.”
I’m ever amazed at those who’d deny heaven displaying such knowledge of Hell.

Update II: linked by Paco with one of those bizzarre tattoo accidents.

There has already been talk of suspending elections for the good of the country and repeal of the two term limit (again, for the good of the country).

And there are people on the right as well as the left, and likely all points inbetween, who would likely be just dandy with this…so unless some drastic sea change happens within the American electorate (whereby they give up interest only in their pieces of candy and think about the real core issues of our Constitution, freedoms, responsibilities, etc.) I think we can bank on it eventually happening.

The Dorothy Thompson dinner party game has been on my mind lately (but she forgot one important group: the ones outside polishing their Lugers and saying, to themselves, “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”).

Google is your friend, but some nitwits have mentioned it.

And for the record, no, I don’t think anything of the sort is in the works (but for some people, yeah, it would cross their minds, but it isn’t limited to just one side of the political spectrum — power is power, and everybody loves it), but throwing junk like that out there could potentially create conditions where they could be enacted because of human freaking nature.People are feeding off an increasingly electric situation and losing their collective marbles if you ask me, and we all get invited to the party, yay.

There were people talking about lifting term limits for the presidency back during the height of Obama-worship, before he was even elected.  I could see that talk being bandied about if Obama were to win another term, but I think even the Obamabots would be fed up with him by then.

That wiki article about Honduras was as near as it can get to a liberal whitewash without being a complete fabrication.
Anyone wishing to know the whole story should read the excellent articles on the subject by Mary Anastasia O’Grady over at WSJ.
The most important fact to know is that the Honduran constitution, written after a long period of military rule, explicitly forbids the president from serving a second term, and further states that any attempt to change the constitutional limits renders that person immediately disqualified from holding the office of presidente.
Zelaya broke the rules, and the supreme court and congress both called him on it. When he imported Chavez printed ballots for his illegal referendum, they were impounded, and when Zelayas goons tried to jailbreak the illegal ballots, it was the last straw, and he was seized and exiled.
Also not stated was that Micheletti, the temporary president, had no desire to keep the job, only to get the scheduled elections conducted cleanly and step aside. The entire OAS, led by the communist dictators of the region ganged up on Honduras, and as the coup de grace, our very own Red Queen, and Black King (HRC and BHO) jumped in on the side on the usurper, not the Hondurans and their constitution.

You think this guy admires Thuggo Chavez? You don’t know the half of it!

    Oh, and Bill Quick?
Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?

Well, it will certainly have been 28 dog years by January. Let’s hope that January 2013 truly is the end of an error.
