C-3PO Raids the Death Star

Posted on | August 12, 2012 | 30 Comments

Allahpundit trembles between fear and hope:

Has there ever been a campaign that went, literally overnight, from being about nothing to leaping neck-deep into the most treacherous, dangerous issue in American politics? Until [Friday] night, I thought Romney was running for president because he wanted to be president, full stop. Everything about him suggested personal ambition over vision — the endless flip-flops, the extreme caution on the trail, the negative-ad carpet-bombing of Gingrich and Santorum in the primaries. Then I wake up [Saturday] morning and find he’s made the boldest move on entitlement reform in modern U.S. history, all but gambling his candidacy on the public’s ability to not only see through Democratic Mediscare smears but to embrace a reform agenda. I don’t know how to process it. I respect Romney tremendously for it, but it just doesn’t compute. It’s like watching C-3PO lead the raid on the Death Star.

Read the whole thing,

Jersey Nut calls our attention to this video in which Paul Ryan schools Obama on health care policy:

Watch CNN’s Candy Crowley describe the choice of Ryan as the expression of a Republican “death wish”:

Candy: Shut up and make him a sammich.

UPDATE: David Axelrod wants you to know that tall handsome Republicans are bad — bad! — for women.

UPDATE II: Donald Douglas says Allahpundit is “perhaps a shade more Eeyorish than need be,” but you expect that, right?

Some people are natural-born worry-warts, and that’s OK. You wouldn’t want everybody on your side to be boldly sanguine, cockeyed optimists expressing “irrational exuberance.” The critics and naysayers who serve as the voice of caution, pointing out the dangers and risks, are doing a service to the cause. The key in dealing with worry-warts is not to let yourself be paralyzed into inaction by such concerns.

Everybody’s worried — I’m worried, too — but leadership requires action, and fear is the enemy of action. Great victories cannot be won by avoiding risk. Now, everybody put on their game faces, and let’s go kick some butt.

That was uncalled for! You shouldn’t make fun of fat women. We like fat women

Because, obviously, fat women know how to make sammiches.

Actually it only proves they eat them.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Part of it is that.  But most of them are not that smart, hence the reason they are still Democrats.  They really do believe all the BS they are told.

So do not underestimate the Democrat attack machine.  We all have our work cut out for us.

As for Allah:  Keep calm and carry on.

If Candy made Ryan a sammitch, theres a good chance she would devour it before she even made it into the other room to hand it to him.

They really believe because they have not been educated. They don’t know civics, they don’t know history, they stay away from the Bible, and they never, ever permit a contrary thought to enter their minds.

Not a function of intelligence. It’s a combination of ignorance and conditioning.

In Candys room, there are food wrappers all over the floor, but to get to Candys room, you gotta walk the darkness of CNN’s halls, Staffers from Obama, call my babys number and they bring her cheese, When I come knocking, she smiles pretty, she knows I wanna be Candys squeeze,

Theres a sadness hidden in that pretty rounded face, a sadness all her own, from which no man can keep Candy safe. We eat a pizza, my heart burn coming back again, when I touch the last piece of pizza, She stabs me in the hand with a fork, I go driving deep into the light, in Candys eyes. She says,

Baby if you wanna be big, you got a lot to learn…

I just want the people around me to be boldly sanguine, cockeyed optimists expressing “irrational exuberance enough to reach any minefields first.  I’m selfish that way.

AP is a big sissy whose main function is to make Ace appear less . . . metrosexual.

Look, the ONLY way we get out of this fiscal disaster and get the economy going again is through entitlement reform, especially Medicare and Medicaid.  We can complain all we want about NPR and “green” subsidies and tax loopholes and welfare scams, but if we eliminated every penny in those areas tomorrow, it wouldn’t make a difference on the bottom line.

There is NO WAY that a President or a Congress will ever be able do what MUST be done if the Democrats can make the “Mediscare” strategy work.  The voters MUST buy into reform or it will never happen.

Romney-Ryan says to America:  “Are you serious about straightening things out, or do you want to be Greece?”

Obama’s only “plan” was his giveaways to his cronies in stimulus and socializing medicine.  That was it, besides ruling by fiat and decree and having his regulators strangle the economy.  He has no plan at all (if we did “tax the rich” as he wants, it still isn’t a drop in the bucket).

So we are just being straight with the American people on the real situation.  No wonder the media is amazed and shocked.

The reason to hit NPR is two fold.  One it demonstrates actual seriousness.  Two, it weakens the propaganda machine of the Left.  And threefold it shows that TEOTWAKI did not happen when a gov’t program was cut off.  And fourfold, it does save a bit of cash.

The fact that they did not do in npr makes me think them not serious.

Ryan is easy on the eyes and smart. Share links to as many of Ryan’s videos on Facebook and the sites you comment on so he can get greater exposure. I respect and admire Ryan and will vote for him even though he has made some votes in the House that I did not like. He is better than my own R congressman. Let’s get everyone you know registered to vote and fired up to do so in November.

WTF?  AP was one of the guys bitterly clinging to the Romney Ascendency.  Now he’s comparing him to C3PO?

Sort of reminds me how National Review jumped big on it’s huge, Romney endorsement in 2008, and then seemed to milquetoadishly slime their way to dragging him down by constant, wet-blanket reporting on how bad he was doing, how flat and unsure he looked, etc.

Oh, I’m all for zeroing out NPR & PBS and the rest as not appropriate expenditures of federal money.  I’m just saying the total amount saved isn’t significant compared to the entitlements.  There can be no reform, no fiscal salvation, without addressing those first and foremost.

By picking Ryan, Romney signals he understands this and asks the electorate to sign on.
