Barack Obama At Loyola In 1998: ‘I Actually Believe In Redistribution’

Via Director Blue, Fox News has a bombshell:

Few points:

  • Barack sounds only a little left of center here. Either he was couching his rhetoric more carefully, or he was simple less of an ideologue 14 years ago. Probably the former.
  • His point could nearly be tolerable if “giving everybody a fair shot” really meant “equality of opportunity”. Alas, redistribution means “equality of condition”. Every time.
  • His point could nearly be tolerable if it was a purely federalist one. If Massachusetts wants to tax itself into an economic crater, that is the prerogative of the voters there. Da Tech Guy’s and Belvedere’s screams, while tragic, are just another brick in the wall.
  • His point could nearly be tolerable if subsequent history hadn’t proven him, personally, the left breast of the Venus de Milo: a stone cold boob.

Of course he believes in redistribution. Nothing shocking there. I realized that several years ago. Problem is about 47% of the electorate believes in it, too.

[…] In the video below, Obama admits he’s a big fan of redistributing wealth. In other words… socialism. […]

Yes, but hearing the words leave the horse’s rump adds a special aroma to the thought.

I think Obama’s comment will just lead the 47% to vote for him twice.

Hey Obama! At some point, you’ve redistributed enough money.

Take a look at this stupid graph over at The Economist mag’s website.

Study it for a bit, because it’s a crappy job of producing visual data. You’ll notice that the story is about countries that fall behind, in terms of “equality” or some such vapid nonsense. What it shows, irreducibly, is that more redistribution produces more dependence.

Now if Willard would just use it in a nationally broadcast ad.

George Romney , Mitts dad was on welfare at one time, went on to be the head of a car company and a governor. You might say that a little redistribution to get on your feet helped him and his ‘ welfare child” son. I think that is Obama’s point when he says ” to get a leg up”, Mitt also gives liberally to his church which requires a 10% tithe much of which is redistributed. Does this make Romney or the Mormon church socialists? Is it really the opinion of posters here that 47% of the country are victims looking for handouts because that is not my experience?
