Rule 5 Sunday: Good Witches

Stacy has been writing about the deranged feminazi witches infesting academia and Tumblr, so it seems only logical that our appetizer this week should be an unquestionably Good witch, Samantha Stephens from the TV series Bewitched, played by the late Elizabeth Montgomery.

Witchcraft is evil. The Bible clearly teaches this. No such thing as a good witch. Hollywood wants to blur the issue and sneak in witchcraft as a good thing. Put a pretty face and body spiced with good humor on a witch as bait and see how many will take the bait. We are warned to stay away from the occult as it is bad for us. Evil uses pleasant bait to get someone started than the hook is set and a person gets trapped. Stay away from all occult practices and follow Jesus Christ. His yoke is easy and his burden is light.

Is this a joke? Witchcraft is a fairy tale just like the bible. Sad to see adults who should know better believing in these things

Totes O/T, but gotta ask someone who knows more than I on the subject, and Wombat qualifies: how’s the Windows 10 upgrade working? Any problems? Should I take the plunge from 7 Home Premium?

    from Rodney’s post

The new browser does not support right click + paste. Every time I have tried it, while compiling this post, I received a popup message saying to use the control + v keyboard shortcut.

A lot of the things that have been changed seem to have been done solely in the name of being different, rather than to make anything easier, or work better, so far as I can tell. I suppose if they didn’t make it work differently from previous versions, some people might not believe it was an improved OS. But, then, I haven’t used it much, besides for surfing the ‘net, so there may be some work related, or other special features, that I am not aware of. But I tried out the new video player, and searched through the C: drive, plus the list of program files. There was nothing really new, there, except for a Candy Crush Saga game.

I wonder if it is possible that those Windows “crashes” that were reported by some people, in connection with receiving updates, were just the result of not applying the correct advanced settings. I found an option to have Windows manage updates, or to to schedule a restart to finish installing updates. With automatic update handling, Windows may just shut down, and restart, without warning, to install new updates, and some users might interpret that as a crash. So I changed my settings to inform me about new updates being downloaded. And there already has been one. On August 6th, a fairly large update was released, which contains a ton of bug fixes. So, we will see if any of my problems goes away.

It appears that, when restarting Windows, if web sites are left open, before shutting down, the browser remembers which tabs had been open, and loads those sites when it is started again. Cool feature.

OK, one negative point: For some reason, every now and then, one of the pictures on Tumblr does not appear, even though I can click on the blank space, and open the picture in a new tab. Even if I wait for several minutes, the picture does not load. No idea why it would do that.

Update: AdBlock doesn’t seem to be compatible with the Edge browser. I read a thread on a few help sites where others have had the same problem, and some of them stated that they got it to work, again, by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. That did not work for me, so I just uninstalled it.

Make that two. There seems to be no way to set a default search engine other than Bing. Bing works well enough, I guess, but I prefer Google, if for no other reason than the doodles. But Google doesn’t appear in the options for default search providers. Something about Open Search technology. But I found a site that claims to enable Google, as an option, just by visiting it. https://orthodox.io/edge/ So, I did that, and now, searches performed from the address bar in Edge are performed via Google. I also miss the ability to highlight a word or phrase, right click, and choose “search with Google” option that was available in Win 7. The search from address bar option is similar, but it overwrites the original page, and there is no option that I can find to open the search result in a new tab. To have to open a new tab and copy/paste saves no steps.

(Sigh) Three. I haven’t been able to sync my other email accounts, yet, with Outlook. Win 10 just will not accept my passwords. I used to have all of my email grouped on one page, but, now, I have to open them individually. Oh, well, I didn’t care for the page layout in the Edge’s embedded email, anyway.

So, bottom line? I am fairly satisfied with Windows 10, but I think it was released to the public too early. I can see why someone who is not very computer savvy would have trouble with it. If they did not have very good troubleshooting skills, even browsing the internet could be annoying, or difficult. I don’t do any work with Microsoft Word, or Excel, any more, but I would hope that those programs, being Microsoft products, would be compatible. Other programs that office workers commonly use may not be so easy. But, then, any medium or large office should have an IT tech, who would test all of the corporate software with Win 10 before upgrading. And, I suppose that one way to do large scale testing of the OS, Microsoft would have to get it into the hands of a large number of the public. Since Win 10 will be a free upgrade for one year, I am quite confident that they will have all of the bugs worked out of it well before then. And software developers will have new versions of their product available before then. Now, I am no computer professional, but I have been using them since Windows 3.1 was the newest OS, and I am self taught in computer operation, as well as Microsoft Office, plus I learned a lot from the IT guys, at the place I last worked, so I consider myself fairly knowledgeable. And tech writers are giving it good reviews. The Wall Street Journal said, “Windows is actually useful again.” PC Magazine called the release version, “rock solid” and gave a “strong recommendation” for users to upgrade.

If you are concerned about your privacy, you should read this, and the first thing you should do, after downloading Win 10, is to follow the instructions on the page, and force Microsoft to butt out of your business. I assume that this is going to become a huge issue, as it becomes known, but anyone who believes that Microsoft is “squealing” to the gubmint on you should loosen up their tinfoil hat a bit. You might be surprised at just how many sites already track you on your internet habits. Microsoft’s mission is to use what information to direct content in your interests toward you. Which I have read, in several articles, is “the way of the future”. But, who is so naïve to think that the ads which appear on your web pages just happen to be stuff you are interested in?

The bewitching Elizabeth Montgomery leads this Songkran mega edition. Moreover, I have posted some of my wayward tangents to add spice to this nicheless magazine

I do agree to avoid the occult, but Johnny Mercer songs and Elizabeth Montgomery do not exactly fall into the category of evil.

No problems so far, but if Win7 is working for you, I’d stick with it. The only reason I upgraded was to get rid of Windows 8.

Off topic (if this has one) but a commenter at another site left this you might like a chuckle at.

Arky is the chap who wrote this masterpieces name.

Someone once said a life unexamined is shit.
Let’s examine life in a future neo- pagan late 21st century Australia.
    From blow to whoa.
Conceived by Sky’lar and Criuze, a new life grows in the womb.
Unfortunately, Criuze’s Mum Cheyenne does not agree. So it ends dismembered in a kidney dish, and the soul returns to wherever unborn babie’s souls go to wait for a second chance.
Not long after, “Chantelle” and his wife Felicity conceive. This time things go slightly better and a boy is born and named, as is the fashion of the time, after his two mum’s favourite food.
Young Couscous enjoys his first three days with biological mum Felicity, before starting in daycare.
Luckily, Chantelle’s work as a sexologist gives her lots of free time to spend with Couscous every second weekend.
Felicity’s employment in education gives her heaps of great contacts to get Couscous help as he enters those challenging teen years, and begins to exhibit some slightly disturbing behaviour.
The day Felicity walks in on Couscous defecating on the burning, petrol soaked corpse of the family cat haunts her still.
However, no matter how they adjust his medication, things get worse and worse.
Unfortunately, Couscous life ends in his early twenties, after sliding under Arky’s car as his Harley flips down the road.
Felicity and Chantelle give the go ahead and the doctor declares Couscous a breathing cadaver, ready for the transplant team.
Grief stricken, Felicity and Chantelle’s marriage begins to suffer. Felicity was naver happy with Chantelles decision to have the op.
Chantelle commits suicide. Because of the change in the marriage act in 2026 allowing polygamy, Felicity is free to marry her one true love, the Qantas Australian Wallabies.
As Australian of the Year she courageously campaigns to raise awareness of children’s mental health issues.
