The Antonym of ‘Dignity’: Guys, Never Do What Liam Hemsworth Did

Do I want to write about Miley Cyrus again? No, like every other human being with any sense of decency, I’d prefer to ignore her existence. She is a disgrace to humanity, a noxious stain on the planet. After my Monday post (“Never Trust a Bisexual”) about how Miley had betrayed her husband Liam Hemsworth, I did not intend to pay any further attention to her, but then I saw the latest update on the Cyrus-Hemsworth split:

Liam Hemsworth spoke out about his separation from Miley Cyrus in a statement on Monday night.
“Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” the 29-year-old “Hunger Games” star wrote on Instagram. “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.” . . .
Some reports suggested Cyrus wanted an open relationship with Hemsworth that allowed her to “have fun” with other men and women while remaining married to him. On Monday, a source told People that Cyrus wanted to go to couple’s therapy with Hemsworth to be in “a healthy and focused place.” . . .
An insider told Entertainment Tonight that [Hemsworth] wasn’t shocked by her hookup with Carter but that the marriage may not be totally over.
“Liam loves Miley and is hurt, but he knows that she does this,” a source said. “Miley and Liam very recently separated. Miley’s behavior is no shock to Liam. He is hurt but not surprised. The last several months they’ve been talking about taking a break. Liam’s been frustrated with some of her antics and, in turn, Miley claims she ‘needs her space.’ This seems to be a pattern in their relationship.”
The insider added, “Miley and Liam love each other and always will. Most of their friends feel they’ll be back together. No one thinks Miley and Kaitlynn are in a real relationship, they believe it’s more fun on vacation.”

Now, we must doubt that the “insider” source quoted here was speaking with Hemsworth’s permission, but he himself was responsible for wishing “nothing but health and happiness” to Cyrus — which is something that no intelligent man would ever say about someone who had humiliated him in such a public fashion as Cyrus had done to Hemsworth.

Liam Hemsworth has let himself be played for a chump. Miley Cyrus has wiped her feet on his reputation, quite deliberately, and he seems to have no comprehension of what has happened to him, or why it happened.

Of course, if he had any concern for his own dignity, Liam Hemsworth never would have gotten involved with a trashy slut like that, but then to permit her to drag his reputation through the mud — which is what she has done, and not accidentally so — and act as if she is still deserving of his further sincere good wishes, can only be explained as expressive of a profound masochistic tendency on Hemsworth’s part.

Consider how this split has been reported by the tabloid press. We are told that “they’ve been talking about taking a break” for months, even though they only married in December. So it appears that Miley’s “antics” became a problem quite quickly, and yet rather than act decisively — leave, and tell her he wouldn’t consider returning unless she changed her ways — Hemsworth was evidently content to drift along. In other words, he ceded the initiative to her, giving her the option of making a de facto announcement of their separation by her public make-out session with Kaitlynn Carter. This is not the way to play the game, Liam.

Of course, we cannot expect sound judgment from a man fool enough to marry a slut like that, and having made that first mistake, every subsequent move he’s made has been consistently wrong, proving the truth of the ancient maxim, Quem deus vult perdere, prius dementat.

A man would have to be crazy to get involved with someone like Miley Cyrus, and God forbid any of my sons should ever make such an error. Yet if any of them were so unfortunate, I would hope when it became apparent to them that they’d made a mistake — “Dad always said never trust a bisexual” — they would have the sense to exit with their dignity intact, rather than permit themselves to played for a chump the way that Miley Cyrus has played Liam Hemsworth.
