Coffee Party: Yeah, We Can Backronym The Beaners

Posted on | March 2, 2010 | 40 Comments

by Smitty

Fishersville Mike, fellow Virginian and backronym fetishist, starts the festivities, and has quite a serviceable outing.

My offering is slightly less charitable:
Can
Only
Find
Festivity in
Effete
Emuluation

I can’t add much to Legal Insurrection and American Power’s floggings of the Coffee Party. It rather makes sense that the slack-jawed left would complement the Tea Party through emulation. They, like Imperial Japan, have every reason to wet themselves with dread at the thought of the sleeping giant that has awakened, after a century of political slumber, to the Progressive threat.

Bring it on, all y’all crypto-Marxist mike foxtrots: We The People shall grind you and your morally bankrupt ideology right down.

If those on the right are the Teabaggers, then surely we can dub the mentally roasted members of the Coffee party “the Beaners”, can we not?

Update: Over at Pajamas Media, courtesy of  Little Miss Attila, comes news of the Cocoa Party.

These beverage-based organizations are spilling out all over the place.

Next thing you know, W will come out with “De Cider” party.

Update II: VA Right has a good one.

Update III: Mike LaChance mentioned the Coffee Party and a few other current topics. Excellent summary.

That would be a profound insult to genuine beaners.

What ‘genuine beaners’? I mean nothing whatsoever beyond the scope of the simple roasted coffee bean that is soon to become so much powder.

What racial stuff, pray tell? I mean nothing more than exactly what the post says, and anyone attempting to attach other meanings is exercising their free speech in complete independence of me.

I think testicle-suckers would be a better term to use for the Coffee people. Maybe even the Richard Lickers Society, but not beaners.

    But hey, that’s just me.

Yeah, “beaner” is a derogatory word for Mexican, so if we use that they’ll call us racists. Oh wait…they’re already doing that.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just not racist and/or bigoted enough: Folks are always referring to epithets or slanderous nicknames for various groups of people that I’ve never heard of, and I sit here scratching my head wondering what they are talking about. Maybe if I were more bigoted I would know these names, and could avoid them, I’m probably offending people all the time and not knowing it. Case in point – the remarks above seem to be implying that “beaner” is already being used to refer slanderously to some group of people. Never heard of it, can someone please clue me in, I can’t be the only one. Maybe there’s a class I can take somewhere “Bigotry 101 for non-bigots”? (Not that I am implying that any of you folks are bigots because you DO know what these terms mean, you just get out more than I do!)

OK, I see someone has pre-answered my question as to what beaner means (in a derogatory sense). I still don’t get it. What, is the implication that Mexicans eat a lot of beans or something? If I’m going to be an Evil Racist Conservative Republican, I really need more practice at this sort of thing.

    @Clueless,

maybe an episode of South Park will clue you in:

think of the episode with the cloud of smugness. It is where the people in San Francisco were so elitist that they used to bend over and sniff their own odor.

If these folks were into yippee beans then the epithet about beaners makes a lot of sense to me….

Just think about it… that one episode explains everything.
