Belvedere Ups The Ante On The Axis Of Fedora

The Axis of Fedora is continuing its relentless program of blogospheric expansion, this time sliding Bob Belvedere under the brim.

Of course, this puts pressure on fellow fashion Fernando Paco to step up to the haberdashery and show us the lid.

This post should also take a moment to not some deplorable developments in flyover country. ‘Axis of Cheddora’. Really? Is that all you’ve got? Don’t you know who won World’s Best Medium Cheddar this year? Let me know when you think your sad little state knows thing #1 about cheese, Steve Burri, or hats.

And no noise out of Lance, either, unless he’s willing to meet over on Yahoo Games for a desperately needed cribbage clinic.

Wow! Who knew Bob Belvedere was so dashing!

  • http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/ Steve Burri

“World’s Best Medium Cheddar”: The contest featured what we in Wisconsin call Moderate Cheddars or CINO’s (Cheddar in name only). All are palatable when added to Rotel chilies and microwaved for an hour or so.

The Tillamook Dairy’s , formerly SEIU-mook Dairy’s, entry barely beat out Velveeta and Processed American Cheese Food for the title. A dispute arose over voting irregularities, however, as the voting machines were supplied by… you guessed it, the SEIU.

We Burri’s laughed at this ‘News’ on October 1st while partying to honor a very important birthday… Grandpa John’s… as we snacked on some primo 13 year-old Wisconsin cheddar.

As for hats, you got me there. We Burris mostly rely on a good head of hair!

  • Joe

    Bob could be our Rorschach.

  • http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/ Steve Burri

Indeed, but he got that way from his ritual dashing from the cops.

  • Paco

Asking me to present my fedora bona fides is like asking the Pope for proof that he’s a Christian. I’ve been wearing fedoras and Panamas for thirty years (I even wore fedoras when I lived in Miami).

  • http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/ Steve Burri

Here’s proof: Fedora, sunglasses, and trenchcoat just like Dan Akroyd. Trenchcoat in Miami, too?

  • Paco

Hey, when it rained, you bet!

  • http://theothermccain.com smitty

All of this talk, while interesting, falls short of deliverin’ the goods, man.

  • http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/ Steve Burri

    Smitty,
Check the link above titled Dan Akroyd.

  • http://theothermccain.com smitty

Ah! Well, then I’ll just have to add him to the Axis.

  • http://ifyouseekpeace.wordpress.com/ Ran

Heh… Who knows what eeeevilll lurks in the hearts of men?

  • Paco

Add me to the axis?!? Add me? As I say, Iwas wearing fedoras while you whippersnappers were still wearin’ Cub Scout caps. I qualify to be the axis.

    TLC: Thank you.

Steve: In the halls of justice, sometimes the only justice is in the halls.

I have a great, full head of silver hair, Steverino, but, like Paco, I have a thing called ‘class’ – you should try it sometime.

I followed that link, Joe, and, if I were, I’d be a better dressed version. He looks like a toned down Huggy Bear.

Good luck with that argument, Paco. I tried it with Smitty and he decided to be a real hard-arse. To paraphrase my hero Joe Friday: ‘He’s the harness bull, the cop, the fuzz,’ of TOM.

You think it mere coincidence that my band was name Shadowplay? Mwaha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Or that my favorite character on Sanford & Son was Lamont. Or that my favorite town in Rhode Island is….

So have I, Detective, so have I, and it didn’t work with the Smittster. I consider myself the Iggy Pop of the Axis Of Fedora.

  • Paco

Bob: Let’s form our own organization. The League of Snap Brim.

  • http://theothermccain.com smitty

    Fomenting rebellion already, are we?

  • http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/ Steve Burri

Bob, that comment was a reply to Smitty’s Badger broadside where class is not a prerequisite.

  • Anonymous

Oh, sure…change you tune now that you’ve been caught!

  • Anonymous

Paco: A capital idea. And our first rule will be that you cannot be a member if you wear a pseudo-fedora like a certain navy swabby we know.

  • Anonymous

Paco and I were the Axis Of Fedora before the Axis Of Fedora was cool – and we both still wear three-piece suits!

  • http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/ Steve Burri

I got caught because I am not as practiced at dashing.
