USMC: B(l)ad And Bladder

There isn’t any way to defend the action of the Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. It was all over the NBC news last night. But step back and question the timing:
In what context did this occur? The trial will be interesting, as we may discover that, while not justified, there were motives. Possible examples include a firefight, or intelligence indicating that the targets of the desecration had snuffed some US Marines.
Should we question the timing? Isn’t the U.S. making a major policy shift in Afghanistan right now? Are these Marines being used to:
- Control the media cycle about U.S. policy toward Afghanistan.
- Offer some anti-U.S. ammunition to Kabul.
- Make the probable budget whacking of the Pentagon seem emotionally justified.
How about some kind of balance in the reporting? The desecration of the corpses is wrong, but the reporting might have you thinking that absolutely nothing else happened in Afghanistan but this reprehensible act.
In summary, while not trying to justify these Marines in the slightest, the media is pissing on the U.S. about as much as those Marines pissed on the Taliban. Thanks for nothing, you sad media Murtha-ites.

Rush’s take: “…the more important question here, the Taliban, those, according to the story, was their people who were dead who were the urinatees. And the Taliban says that that tape is not gonna hurt anything, we’re not bothered by that. I’m simply asking, what does that tell you? (interruption) No. It doesn’t tell us that they’re tired of being hit by drones.
It tells us that they’re winning and they’re close and if they start raising hell about this, it’s gonna delay the ultimate. Karzai is out there saying one thing or another. A senior member of the Afghan government’s High Peace Council said, “Such action will leave a very, very bad impact on peace efforts.” But the Taliban says, ah, not gonna hurt anything here. Taliban must think they’re close to winning. Taliban must think they’re pretty close to taking over Afghanistan. There are peace talks going on, and the Taliban must think that we’re pretty close to surrendering it to ’em and getting out, and they don’t want this to come along and stop that process and delay. That’s how I interpret it. This would be my wild guess.”

Too often you become what you fight. And, it’s understandable, if tehy did what they are accused of.
Personally, I’d tell Karzai to shut up or we will stake him out for the Taliban and buzzards. The man should have been deposed as soon he showed up with a bunch of cash from Tehran. There are plenty of northern types that would be happy to dispose of him for us.

Having spent some time there, you’re somewhat beside the point. Karzai is a Mark 1, Mod 0 Pashtun. While 40% of the population, those highlanders think They Are Afghanistan.
Whether or not a Tajik could assume the Presidency remains to be seen. But first, some flavor of civil war.

I wonder what Nick Berg thinks about all this?

Rep. West had the reasonable view: non-judicial punishment and public formal apology and repentance, reprimand on record, etc.
But reason and logic will go out the window with media/leftist hysteria and Obama’s fanatic compulsion to bow down to muslims, without regard to whether they are firing upon us at the time.
January 13th, 2012 @ 8:19 pm
Not only should we piss on the dead terrorists, we should then dip the beasts in pig lard and leave their corpses to rot in a salted field. War is war and they started it.
January 13th, 2012 @ 8:19 pm
See LTC Allen West’s comments (elsewhere) – he puts this in proper respective. Get over it!
January 13th, 2012 @ 9:14 pm
I think the Marines should be reprimanded. Why in the hell waste perfectly good American piss on dead Taliban when there are so many living ones in need of a good piss shower.
January 13th, 2012 @ 9:21 pm
Look at the video, available everywhere. No sign of a stream, no little drops scattered outside the target zone. And, believe me, those boys aim better with their rifles with any appendages. Bad joke, perhaps, but no precious bodily fluids.
January 13th, 2012 @ 10:22 pm
Couldn’t care less. Anybody grok the cognitive dissonance here? It’s perfectly all right, in fact, admiragle, to blow these crazed, murderous scum into bloody chunks, but heaven forfend that you should pee on the chunks.
Spare me.
January 13th, 2012 @ 10:40 pm
No urine seen, not a stream, not a stray dribble or squirt on that very dry ground. All I saw was four young guys posing as if they were whizzing on the Taliban corpses. Much ado about less than nothing.
January 13th, 2012 @ 10:43 pm
Even if there was a stream…still much ado about nothing.
January 13th, 2012 @ 11:20 pm
That wouldn’t be true even if the US was at war – which it isn’t.
January 13th, 2012 @ 11:21 pm
Failing to condemn despicable behavior is the path the progressively abandoning your ideals. Should we become progressives?
January 14th, 2012 @ 12:01 am
Tell the Mohammedins that. They certainly believe that they are.
January 14th, 2012 @ 12:04 am
Patton pissed in the Rhine, so what’s the problem here?
This is what soldiers do to show their contempt for their enemy.
What a nation of wusses we have become.
Of course, I favored putting Bin Laden’s head on a pike at the top of the wall surrounding the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan.
PS: My the American Ideal is to survive.

But Allen West fortunately is. And he says it very well. http://evilbloggerlady.blogspot.com/2012/01/congressman-allen-west-says-it-best.html

I also did not realize that Kilgore Trout, CJ’s midnight tagger, now thinks CJ is too far to the left and is outsville with the LGF “crowd” which at this point must consist solely of the Husky Jerkoff himself.

Yes West said it best.

I piss on the sanctimonious phony “outrage” of terror-linked sharia pushing islamic supremacist CAIR who are a front group for the genocidal Muslim Brotherhood, and I piss on the anti-American jackasses who defend the “right” of dead TERRORISTS (who like to kill us) to not be peed on by our troops who risk and even sacrifice their lives on our behalves every damned day. Screw the jihadis and their hand-wringing enablers, piss be upon them all.
Where was the outrage when Americans have been beheaded, mutilated and had their bodies hung from bridges and dragged through the streets by mohamadeens? Where was the outrage when Afghanistan “soldiers” who we’ve been training open fire on our troops and kill them?
I will never ever EVER side with mohamadeen terrorists over our troops and hold nothing but contempt and ill will towards anyone who does. Screw them.
I don’t even CAIR about Abu Graib or any other so-called “outrage” against TERRORISTS (who like to KILL US), because the “victims” were TERRORISTS who like to KILL US. Screw them.

“Failing to condemn despicable behavior…”
First, you have to believe that it is despicable.
January 14th, 2012 @ 12:14 pm
Aren’t you already one?
January 14th, 2012 @ 1:43 pm
If this is enough to give you vapors, then I shudder to think what would happen to you if you got to see a good glimpse of what the Taliban has done to people (or for that matter what other troops have done, including our own, in the past — war is all hell, and civilized, polite society behavior goes out the door with it; this is incident is hardly worth mention). Ideals? Do you really think war of itself, its barest essence, has anything to do with ideals? Save that for the pretty people back home who don’t have to face it every day.
What those Marines did was not right, but considering the fog of war it is understandable. Call them on the carpet and then be done with it, case closed.
The learning lesson here for our young people is: do you have to videotape everything that you do?
January 14th, 2012 @ 1:50 pm
Ah, Lt. Col. Allen West — bit of trivia: one of mine now serves with officers who served under him…they love him. There is a reason for that.
I have to admit: when he talks, when my husband and I see his videos…well, we’re not immune to certain dog whistles ourselves. He strikes a chord indeed.
January 14th, 2012 @ 6:57 pm
Which still doesn’t change the fact that the US government is not at war.
January 14th, 2012 @ 6:59 pm
If condemning despicable behavior makes me a progressive then I am a proud despicable behavior c0ndemning progressive.
January 14th, 2012 @ 7:03 pm
If US soldiers are to be guided by the concept that “the other guy did it” makes it OK then “the other guy” has managed to bring the US armed forces down to their level. If the US armed forces is to be admired they must engage in admirable behavior. Killing people isn’t the worst action a soldier can do as this video shows.
January 15th, 2012 @ 12:05 pm
No…they have their orders, and should be appropriately punished for failing to carry them out (emphasis on “appropriate” — what these fellows did warrants an Article 15, but war crimes? wtf?). I won’t defend their actions, but I will defend them against those who automatically rush to judge them as monsters, without taking into account the circumstances that led to this incident.
Admirable? Who said anything about that? I didn’t say I admired them for what they did, but I can understand how these sorts of things happen and know enough to know that this was the least of desecrations — mild even in light of some of the things their enemies are doing (which does flavor how one views them, which can flavor how you wind up reacting to them too — people are not perfect). Do you think these Marines are automatons, devoid of human feelings and human failings? Superhuman saint that are incapable of bad or foolish acts like everyone else?
And killing somebody is indeed the worst thing you can do to somebody — seen plenty of people who manage to come out the other side of pretty horrible experiences, but killing? you don’t come out the other side. And once you are dead? Well, this world doesn’t matter any more because you aren’t in it.
