Go Ahead, Blame Me

Posted on | April 20, 2012 | 41 Comments

Ed Morrissey informs us that Tina Korbe is leaving Hot Air to take a job at the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, and I’m sure some people will find some way to say this is somehow my fault.

As I explained in February when people were screaming for my scalp: I’ve always liked Tina, had often linked and praised her blog posts, and she was always nice to me. My remarks that were interpreted as being critical of her were misunderstood, but if I write something that is misunderstood, the fault is mine anyway for having been less than clear in my writing.

Therefore, mea culpa, and best wishes to Tina.

I’m sure Salem Communications will conduct a thorough search, based on nothing but professional credentials, for her replacement. Perhaps they’ll post the job opening and take applications, each of which will be thoroughly considered and evaluated to select the best possible candidates.

You’ll be announcing all this during your featured speaker appearance at BlogCon this weekend, right Stacy?

@rsmccain:disqus  I blame you for the increase in my wife’s workload that precluded my attending BlogCon Charlotte.Your anti-squid bias is coming out in the most refined, passive aggressive fashion. You may heap abuse about your own head and shoulders at your discretion for this affront.

I blame you for Tina Korbe’s sudden change to modest old-lady attire AND for Tabitha Hale’s eating disorder.

Sounds like a good excuse for a rule 5 post.

Have you ever been to Charlotte? I worked there on the Panther’s stadium swore I’d never go back unless I could do so in plane and pull the levers while over it. Charlotte and Obamsky are a match made ……somewhere.

@rsmccain:disqus You really do need to stop caring what most others think particularly of you, some one else’s lack of reading comprehension does not make you at fault.

Sounds like a good excuse for a comparative before and after Rule 5 post.

Actually, Tina should be thanking you for all that extra attention.  The added publicity probably helped her land her new gig!

Their interstates and beltways were designed by a guy who thought Atlanta’s were just too darned efficient.

Their beltway is inside the city! It’s the only city I’ve ever been to where four right turns don’t bring you back where you started.

Well, it did get a lot of publicity, but if I had to guess, her job change probably has more to do with her soon-to-be-married status. Likely wanted something more 9-to-5-ish, less stressful, less high-profile. As with any woman being on such a prominent online platform, I’m sure her inbox was crammed with lurid/hateful e-mails. (You’ve seen when Malkin occasionally reprints some of what she gets.) So with her nuptials pending, Tina might have decided to step back from the intense glare at HA.

That’s just guesswork, though. OCPA may have simply offered more pay.

Moe, Shemp, and Curly were brothers.  Larry Fine was an itinerant comic who used a violin in his act – he was actually good at it and might have gone into music.  He played the same Vaudeville circuit with Ted Healy and His Stooges, which started out as Moe and Shemp until Shemp was fed up with Healy’s low pay and abuse, and was replaced by Curly.

Healy liked Larry and offered him a job if he would lose the violin.  An early film appearance drew an offer for the boys but not Healy, which led to the Stooges going on their own.  Larry was the glue that held the act together.

Probably better pay AND benefits but insisted she give up political blogging.

What really made the decision easy is she no longer has to worry if every creep who follows her on the street is Allahpundit.

I must respectfully disagree: Ed is in charge of Hot Air.  Therefore, chances are highly likely he made the decision.

[…] Robert Stacy McCain accepts the blame for Tina Korbe’s moving out of the dextrosphere and into the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (just down the road at 13th and Lincoln). Not that we consider this a problem here on the prairie, of course. […]
