Not Ashamed Of My Country, But ‘Choom-Ba-Yah Diplomacy’ Makes Me Cringe

Via The Tatler, the National Review:

Administration officials told the Journal that Walesa is too “political.” A man who was arrested by Soviet officials for dissenting against the government for being “political” is being shunned by the United States of America for the same reason 30 years later.
Meanwhile, one of the recipients of the Medal was Dolores Huerta, the honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America. So socialist politics are acceptable, but not the politics of a man who stood up and fought socialism.
This revelation follows an eruption of outrage in Poland after President Obama referred in his remarks at the Medal of Freedom ceremony to “Polish death camps,” a phrase that Poles have battled since the end of the Cold War. The phrase suggests that Poles were complicit in Nazi concentration camps, which of course is not the case. In fact, Poles were exterminated in the camps.

Eschewing even a beer summit with Lech Walesa, #OccupyResoluteDesk had somebody toss off a letter to the Poles. HotAir concludes with Presley covering Sinatra. This blog sees Morrissey’s Elvis and raises him a possible Polish response, Devo covering the Stones:

Update: more at Nice Deb.

Update II: Linked at the Pirate’s Cove, too.

Obama has a serious hate for the peoples of the former Warsaw Pact.  Only he remains loyal to Moscow.

I can’t think of a time in American history when our foreign policy was so inept: sh*tting on our allies, and making our enemies contemptuous.

Inept? Or deliberately intended to make us look weak and stupid?

    Disgusting.

However, I’d suggest Devo’s “Crack That Whip” instead.

BHO only likes “Whip It” when he’s hanging out with Rob Halford.

    Agreed, all of the above.

But thanks for the Devo.  Who are an example of Akron exceptionalism!

My only quibble with the NR piece:  Sure, a lot of Poles died in the camps. Just like a lot of Germans died in camps.  Doesn’t mean some Poles weren’t as anti-semitic as some Germans, and participated in the holocaust.

Inept – they honestly believe their policy of “engagement” is best and we can all sing choom-by-ya on the beach if only America gives up its dreams of hegemony and empire, blah, blah, blah, and the other Marxist claptrap.

To them the Evil Empire and the Axis of Evil were never evil at all.  They really believe that crap.  That’s the scariest part of it.

When the millions of American voters of Polish descent go to the polls this fall – in places like PA, OH, MI, IL, WI, and MN, they can send Choom Boss a message.

Considering the professional cadre of diplomats and support staff remain the same from SecState to SecState, I have to say inept.

The Appointed Wonders are behaving in manner that says they truly believe they know what they’re doing – because they read a doctoral thesis and had a good bull session over espresso and biscotti while in university.
