Just a few comments and thoughts regarding Rule 5.

Let me preface this by saying that I’m not bothered (much) by Rule 5 and that I have no big issues with some cheesecake/eye candy (and sometimes appreciate it myself).

First of all, just a thought, without referencing any particular Rule 5 post on any website: is there anything more tarty and tacky on just about any garment on any woman than leopard spot prints? Seriously, any piece of clothing fitted with leopard spots, on whatever woman and however cut, worn or combined, it just seems to be impossible to make it look any good and not just plain tacky. It seems to be leopard spots just can’t be made to look classy and sexy. Just tarty.

Then, a few honest questions. I guess this blog will have caught flack for Rule 5 many times already, and I do not intend these questions as an attack.

First, is it not perhaps true that Rule 5 to some extent (?) appeals to the baser interests/natures of people (men in particular) and not so much to higher interests? While I think much of the feminist ‘objectification’ rhetoric is nonsense, do not perhaps Rule 5 and similar things somewhat appeal to and broadcast a view of women as merely candy for mens’ eyes and things of beauty and arousal? I do sometimes feel like Rule 5 is maybe a bit of a ‘base’ aspect of culture.

Second, what would people here say about young men (teenagers, perhaps), like possibly your sons, viewing things like Rule 5? And what about your daughters, sisters, wives et cetera being in things like these?
