St. Olaf College (annual tuition $42,940) is a formerly Christian school that now offers LGBTQ scholarships, teaches courses in gay sexuality, and sponsors a student organization called Gay, Lesbian or Whatever! (GLOW) “that welcomes and affirms the identity and expression of all genders and sexualities.” St. Olaf’s anti-Christian curriculum includes a department of Women’s and Gender Studies, where “students explore scholarship about women and gender across cultures and throughout history to examine intersections of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, nationality, ability, religion, and age.” Because no Christian parent would let their child go anywhere near St. Olaf’s College, it is now an elite progressive indoctrination center for the children of rich liberals.

Feminist bloggers have spent the past few days high-fiving each other over the “perfect” and “epic” letter to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune written by Heidi Seltz (St. Olaf, Class of 2011):

ABORTION
It’d be nice if men would shut up

To the two men whose anti-abortion letters were published June 28: Unless you have a woman’s body, I don’t want to hear your opinion on what women’s bodies should or should not do. In fact, it would be a delight if the Star Tribune Editorial Board ceased publishing men’s letters about women’s bodies entirely. Perhaps newspaper readership among young people would grow if every time we opened a paper, we didn’t have to read old men’s fusty opinions about uteri.

    Well that’s fine. There’s plenty of women willing to explain why refusing to take responsibility for and control of your reproduction and then when you “oopsie” and end up pregnant heading out to get an abortion doesn’t make you an exemplar of female autonomy or liberation but instead, makes you an eternal child who wants daddy to fix your mistakes.

    I’ve heard this crap before. I am not entitled to have, let alone express an opinion because I am not a woman.

    I was once a fetus however so I think that gives me some standing. And anyway, who made this totalitarian arbiter of what constitutes a woman? My understanding is that a uterus is no longer a requisite.

    About 20 years ago, when I had first become disillusioned with the Democrat Party, my wife and I were invited to dinner with the chairman of the local Republican Party in Floyd County, Georgia. Jim Arp and his wife were also Christian homeschooling parents and all-around conservatives, and adamantly pro-life.

    At one point in our dinner conversation, the subject of abortion came up and I offered the libertarian point that, without regard to whether abortion was legal, it certainly should not be taxpayer funded, because this was a violation of the conscience of Catholics and others whose religion held life sacred. To this, Jim answered firmly: “Abortion is murder and it ought to be against the law.”

    Very simple, and also true.

    I know it’s a touchy subject and one that I try very hard not to discuss with conservatives.

    I’m looking for allies. I know from experience that progressives will flatter to distract from the knife aimed at my back. Conservatives may not like me or my opinions, but they’ll tell me to my face.

    Back to the subject. Not every pregnancy will be carried to term, even if there was never another abortion performed.

    And I remember reading a certain Paul Harvey’s The Rest Of The Story.

    Like I said, I’m torn on it. It’s one of the few issues I’ve not been able to work out, even when I appeal to the Divine.

    Editors and producers choose who is allowed to speak, and thus which arguments are heard. In every media-orchestrated debate, the “moderator” is not neutral, and the selection of topics and participants is deliberated slanted toward “proving” the liberal side of the issue. Certain perspectives and certain subjects are excluded from discussion in the liberal media, which considers it a “public service” to stifle honest and open debate.

    This notion that only women should be allowed to discuss when life begins and what the moral and ethical implications of abortion are is sheer nonsense. The whole idea brings us back to that famous quote “shut up, she explained”.
