Apparently Santorum Hasn’t Read Codevilla

Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, mulling a presidential run, says Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, a potential 2012 primary foe, is indulging in “class-warfare” rhetoric.
. . .
“I’m not a class-warfare guy,” Santorum tells National Review Online in reaction to Pawlenty’s remarks. “That’s the Democrats’ gig. They like to divide and play the class card. We don’t have classes in America — I don’t even like the term ‘middle class.’ People are lower income or middle income, and the dynamism of this country is that you can rise, and sometimes fall, but you are not stuck in classes. We should not get into that kind of rhetoric, or showing some sort of prejudice.”
The good Senator’s attention is drawn to Angelo Codevilla’s essay, which lays out at length how Santorum either (a) has his head buried in the sand, or (b) is so fully ensconced in that ruling class as to be unaware of the implications.
Graphically, the point is laid out at The Jacksonian Party, where it boils down to a word: incumbency.
Thus, when considering arguments about what to do to un-bake the situation in the country, I’m always keen to see how the ideas attack the structural problems of our ruling class and centralization.
In other words, YouCut and the Roadmap Plan, while great starts, need to get more Federalist in their outlook: the GOP can win, but real victory means defeating its own structural systems as well as those of the Democrats. Do you think the GOP has enough essential American power to grasp that, past the posturing?

I think if Santorum runs his book will be used to bash him.

I posted this quote today. Marvel at my logic:
Oh remember my infamous post on Santorum as a definition of gay culture? It involved lube.

Has Santorum always talked this way? Sounds pretty hip! “Class Warfare? That’s the Democrats’ gig, daddy-o.”

Santorum is an idiot … the Dems use class warfare to say “vote for us, we’ll tax the rich” while all the while being rich and elitest themselves …
Pawlenty is saying vote for me becasue I come from the same background as you … not a wiff of tax the rich nonsense … big difference …

Santorum. Gingrich. Romney. Palin (somewhat unfortunately). Such are the retreads the GOP needs to avoid nominating for POTUS in 2012. Here’s one reader hoping for a Chris Christie/Gary Johnson ticket in 2012 — two guys with proven executive experience and success, and Johnson in particular would be a good draw for more libertarian-oriented conservatives.

We need to check out the backgrounds of Republicans before supporting them. See if they’ve been “gotten to” by the Establishment. See if they’ve joined CFR, are they involved ins some bull-crap NGO, do they use the phrase “public-private partnerships”, etc.

Rick Santorum’s crime was being conservative, pro-life, pro-military, pro-border security, anti-ghey agenda, anti-Islamo-fascism. The Establishment(Repub/Dem) ‘took him out’ because he was uncompromising in his beliefs/standards. I would consider it an honor to vote for him (but still waiting to see who runs in 2012).
