Blog Ads Get Results!

If you look over in the top right-hand corner of the page, you see where our BlogAds run. Our rates are pretty cheap, and people who have advertised with us say that they were impressed with the results compared to some other sites. I’ve kind of taken the BlogAds for granted in recent months, but some of you may remember when PETA had an ad with Pamela Anderson’s boobs that used to get some negative comments. Being a greedy capitalist, my attiude was: Hey, they buy the space, I need the money, I’m not complaining.
Anyway, for a while we’ve had an ad from BetOnIraq.com, which sells the Iraqi dinar to U.S. investors, and I finally got curious enough to click and check it out. Their site has this 2007 CNBC interview with Erin Burnett:
Whether or not this affects your decision to check out BetOnIraq.com, I think we can all agree on one thing: Erin Burnett is totally hot.
Meanwhile, we recently picked up a new advertiser offering custom 2″x3.5″ magnet business cards. This ad is from Business Printing Company (BPC), which is running a 2-for-1 special. You could, for example, get 500 magnets for $160, which is 32 cents per magnet, or 1,000 magnets for $240, which is 24 cents per magnet. They do all kinds of printing, and even have a cool design-it-yourself online feature, so if you need some printing — business cards, whatever — you should check out BPC.
And if you have a business to promote, check out BlogAds.

Calvin Coolidge summed it up nicely: “The business of America is business”. Who among the current crop of GOP candidates understands this on an instinctive level? Herman Cain of course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=qpWHK2pEaR8

I remember for the first couple decades of television it was customary for the show’s stars to do the commercials. Lucy & Desi did tons of ads, all of which have been cut from the reruns of course, including cigarettes – which most shows did and look so strange now, hyping the cool, mild flavor, etc.
Jack Benny, Phil Silvers, Danny Thomas – Milton Berle even wore a Texaco uniform to do their ads. When Johnny Carson became an established star as host of The Tonight Show, on his first contract negotiation won the right not to do the commercials. They made Ed McMahon do them instead, but Johnny would still welcome new sponsors by introducing their first commercial from the desk.
Probably the last active TV star to do commercials while on a show was Robert Young, who had done his share on Father Knows Best, but became famous for his ads as Marcus Welby, M.D.: “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV” . . .
So Stacy’s in good company. Can’t wait for the video demo of the Ginsu Knives and Bamboo Steamer!

I am waiting for the adds for Gibson Guitars and gasoline from Canadian Tar Sands, since they seem to be out of favor with the left leaning crowd and the Obama government. mpw
