For some reason, the farce that is the Greek default seems to bother Nigel. Take it away, Mr. Farage:
You’ve got to love the Carry On bit at the end. The imagery works quite well for the sad pack of jackwagons running the U.S. Into the dirt.

Speaking of Greeks,HAPPY PI DAY! One of the earliest known approximations of pi date from around 1900 BC, found in the Egyptian Rhind Papyrus. Though the ancient Egyptians didn’t know the value of pi, they seem to have used an approximation during construction of the pyramids at Giza, Abusir, and Medium.

The Greeks have now defaulted at least twice, and one has to suspend disbelief to think they can possibly implement the austerity measures they’ve agreed to.

Even if they suddenly found a way to collect the retail and individual taxes they haven’t been able to collect since the overthrow of the military junta, their economy is contracting rather rapidly.  Of course the very structure of the bailout deal assumes this will instantly reverse and be replaced by robust growth now that all the problems have been solved for the third or fourth time (depending upon how you count the phony solutions).

Farage is quite right:  it would have been far better for Greece to simply default, devalue, reissue a new Drachma, and be done with Euro-silliness.  The powdered bottoms in Brussels are defending their legacy, though, and for that they are willing not only to bankrupt Greece and the EU, but also the US and China if need be.

Oh, and Portugal is rumbling.  Someone turn up the radio so the noise doesn’t disturb dinner.

[…] has defaulted on its obligations, and the EU is set to bail them out yet again. Epic. (H/T Smitty) Like Smitty said at The Other McCain, there’s a disturbing parallel between the EU ministers […]

The ‘Carry On’ bit at the end summarizes the situation nicely.
