Ah, the refreshing sound of a political leader with sack:

“I think Iran is very different. They put their zealotry above their survival. They have suicide bombers all over the place– I wouldn’t rely on their rationality. Since the advent of nuclear weapons, you had countries that had access [that] always made a careful calculation of costs and benefits. But Iran is guided by a leadership with an unbelievable fanaticism. It’s the same fanaticism that you see swarming your embassies…You want these fanatics to have nuclear weapons? I mean I heard some people suggest, David– I actually read this in the American press– they said, ‘Well, you know, if you take action, that’s a lot worse than having Iran with nuclear weapons.’ Some have even said that Iran with nuclear weapons would stabilize the Middle East…I think the people who say this have set a new standard for human stupidity.” – Benjamin Netanyahu
The entire Gregory/Netanyahu interview is instructive. This is two weeks in a row that Gregory has interviewed an actual leader, and actually shown capacity to lean on them a little bit.
So the contrast promises to be stark when a Democrat comes on, and Gregory breaks out the embroidered knee pads.

Andrea Mitchell sets the bar low for Barry with, “the world is changing too rapidly for ANY American leadership to figure out what to do.”

One of the commenters at Scoop’s yesterday pointed out that, if these “spontaneous riots” were caused by a stupid video, why didn’t they get mad at Obama’s spiking the ball over Bin Ladin?

Bibi’s hit the nail on the head.
All the pundits on tv laugh at the idea that Iran would USE any nuclear weapons so what’s the problem?
Trouble is they don’t understand (or are too afraid of the reality to admit it to themselves) that when dealing with an Islamic Theocracy, rationality doesn’t really enter into it.
Islamicists have proven time and time again that DEATH HOLDS NO FEAR FOR THEM if they die in the cause of their religion. (it’s why I call it a death cult)
They are fanatics and will go to any lengths, pay any price to create a future where Islam is dominant.
We’ve seen them die in a bomb explosion just on the off chance they might kill some jews. What makes anyone think they would hesitate to do the same with a larger weapon? What reasonable argument can you come up with that would preclude them from taking that step just because the damage would be wider spread?
To them the amount of death and destruction unleashed by a nuclear bomb is a positive selling point to do so.
One bomb and most of the jews of the world are atoms.
What Islamicist wouldn’t beg to be the one to set off that explosion from front row center?
Just a 10 kiloton yield wipes Jerusalem off the map (don’t worry they can justify the razing of one of their claimed holy cities in the effort to destroy Israel.)
Or Tel Aviv.
Let’s also remember that the CIA has been totally ineffective as to predictions of what these maniacs will do and whether they have the wherewithal to do it.
It’s incredibly difficult to penetrate a fanatical organization. Tests of faith and purity are constant and all are under suspicion.
Israel DOES have the know how and the agents in place.
If they say Iran is a danger, I’m inclined to believe them.
But then Obama isn’t about doing the right thing for the American people. Obama has always been about doing as much damage and elevating the possibility of an Islamic dominated world since taking office. (prove me wrong. name one thing he’s done that is counter to the interests of Islam.)

And yet apparently the Middle East hasn’t changed substantially since, oh, 1948 or so…

Damn well put.
One quibble with your last paragraph: I don’t believe Obama’s goal is to elevate a Mohammedin-dominated world. He and his Leftist comrades believe that they cannot, at this time, control the world, so they are willing to promote those fellow Totalitarians, Islam and Russa and Red China, to achieve control in their spheres of influenece, as it were. Think of it as Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia brought into the real world.

I agree on both points (that the comment was damn well put, and your quibble).
Leftists make common cause with the disruptive elements because they know that’s how totalitarian control comes about. They figure they can kill the islamists later. What they fail to understand is that they have put their ‘nads in the hands of the extremists, and they will squeeze.

Man, I just perused the headlines of Ha Aretz. You can’t believe all the leftist spin coming out of that rag.
Needless to say, they do not like Netanyahu at all.

Yeah, I would. It’s why I don’t use them as a source too often in Live at Five.
