It was a good week to be a Senators fan. First, we rose up and defeated the Expos in two games of our three game series, including a 4-run 10th inning rally (featuring a two-run homer by The Human Rain Delay) that won the game for Roger Nelson in relief of Carl Morton. In Game 3, Jim Bibby held the Expos to two runs as the boys scored six runs off Luis Tiant and added a seventh off Paul Lindblad. Then we came home to RFK and took two of three against the Pirates, including a surprising 3-0 win for Carl Morton against the King of the Greaseballs, Gaylord Perry. So we finish the week 35-43, one game behind the Brewers and five behind the division-leading Twins. Next week we’re facing the pathetic Dodgers and then the Yankees (49-29). Hopefully we’ll manage another .500 week and not get swept by the Hated Yankees.
