VIDEO: Best Ad Ever Produced for Agriculture Commissioner

Posted on | May 16, 2010 | 90 Comments

Ag Commissioner? Who ever heard of a great ad for Ag Commissioner? Welcome to Alabama, son! And say hello to Dale Peterson:

The Winchester sort of makes it, huh?

UPDATE: Adrien Chen at Gawker can’t bring himself to give me a hat-tip for being the first to blog about “The Most American Thing Ever Made,” but I’ll count this as one more uncredited mitzvah for the Clown Prince of the Right-Wing Blogosphere.

UPDATE II: I’ll get re-Tweeted by Alyssa Milano before I ever get so much as a hat-tip from Allahpundit. He’s like the Red Baron to my Snoopy, y’know?

UPDATE III: OK, Peterson’s got the Conservative Lesbian vote. Now all he needs is to be denounced by Rachel Maddow and he’ll catapult to stardom — winning me a case of Coronas in the process. (Politics is a lot more interesting when you’ve got bets riding on the outcome.)

By the way, here’s how I got aced out of full credit for my role in this viral phenomenon: Independent film producer Ladd Ehlinger Jr. e-mailed it to me, I blogged it at 11:08 EDT and Tweeted it:

@DaveWeigel VIDEO: Best Ad Ever Produced for Agriculture Commissioner: http://bit.ly/cBPloZ [] @FilmLadd is Alabama’s John Ford!

Ladd then re-Tweeted, which must have been how Chen picked it up for Gawker, then via RSS to Allahpundit, etc., etc.

Although I don’t do the atavistic blood-vengeance enemies-list thing — it’s too much hassle to keep track of all the people who’ve screwed me over — I must occasionally point out how I get screwed over, just so that my peers in the Chopped-Liver-Sphere know that they’re not alone.

Solidarity is very important in the Legion of the Doomed. Otherwise, we might become even more demoralized than we already are.

UPDATE IV: Weasel Zippers gives me no linky-love. Jim Hoft and Erick Erickson give me none either, but there’s a Memeorandum thread now, and I’m linked by The Lonely Conservative, Mind Numbed Robot and Bob Belvedere at Camp of the Saints. Welcome to the Legion of the Doomed.

Thanks and many kudos, Stacy! That’s my kind of Republican! When he becomes AG Commissioner, I hope that he has some time to inspire other people like he does in this ad. Statistics show that cowboys win more elections, especially presidential ones, so Dale’s on the right track. But I know from listening to him that he isn’t a rhinestone cowboy. Love the winchester! Go Dale!

Forgot to include Tim James who is running for governor in Alabama. Alabama is on fire leading the Conservative charge with Tim’s ad calling for english only. Check it out on YouTube. Pollster Frank Luntz did a focus group in which Tim’s ad drew over 80 from both Republicans and Democrats, something that is fairly unheard of.

I am not a resident of Alabama, but I would not mind being if Dale was going to take the reigns. We need MORE politicians like him, in EVERY state. My parents migrated here from Mexico, but worked hard and are now, PROUD, U.S. citizens. I am American, born in I Illinois, Hispanic, but my country is THIS GREAT NATION. I too am a former MARINE and agree; we need to take care of US(U.S.) FIRST! OOOH RAHHH Dale! Go get it and blaze a new path!
