Michelle Malkin vs. ‘Conservatism Inc.’

Last year, Michelle Malkin gave a speech at CPAC in which she denounced the open-borders faction within the Republican Party, specifically making mention of “the ghost of John McCain.” A few months ago, I became aware that Michelle Malkin had offended some people by defending Nick Fuentes, who had been accused of anti-Semitism, but I somehow missed the story of what happened next. Her enemies somehow managed to get her dumped by the Young America’s Foundation, which had been sponsoring her campus appearances for 17 years.

Keep in mind that I’ve known Malkin for nearly 20 years, having first interviewed her in 2002 when she published her first book, Invasion: How America Still Welcomes Terrorists Criminals & Other Foreign Menaces to Our Shores. In 2006-2007, Malkin rallied the conservative blogosphere to stop John McCain’s amnesty proposals, and in 2013, she again led the online opposition to the “Gang of Eight” amnesty plan. My point is that it has never been any secret how serious Malkin is about immigration, and no one who knows her would accuse her of racism or anti-Semitism. She is a woman of color, her parents were immigrants, and her husband is Jewish, for crying out loud. Just incidentally, Malkin also (a) created Hot Air and Twitchy, two of the most popular conservative sites on the web, (b) was instrumental in forming the Tea Party movement in 2009, and (c) has done me more than a few favors over the years, including rallying support against Brett Kimberlin in 2012. If there is a fight, you want Malkin on your side, and when she decided to defend Nick Fuentes, my advice to anyone who asked would have been, “Get out of her way. She knows what she’s doing.”

If she’s willing to vouch for this kid and his “Groyper” crew, I would assume she’s investigated enough to satisfy herself that they’re not actually Nazis, and that she has undertaken to advise them against drifting any further toward the fringe. I don’t know the background, nor do I know what happened at YAF, but like I said, when Michelle Malkin decides it’s time to fight, you don’t want to be on the other side.

So, during CPAC this year, Malkin organized a get-together of the “Groypers,” calling it AFPAC (America’s First Political Action Conference), and she gave a speech that included this:

A year ago this week, I had no idea who most of you were and most of you had no idea who I was and that’s okay–even though we have been largely, unbeknownst to each other, fighting many of the same battles against many of the same enemies, against the same fearful odds on the same rigged playing field. I did not know you then, but I did stand on that stage at CPAC in 2019 calling out the feckless organizers for barring real conservatives, immigration hawks, free thinkers and various dissidents from the conference. Meanwhile, the simulators and the saboteurs and the speech squelchers and the Soros smear merchants — like that, Jared Holt [Boos.] weasel that you chased out [of CPAC] — and of course the highest bidding sponsors who were all enjoying free rein back then in the front seats, in the VIP sections, and backstage. On stage last year, I mentioned our friends, Gavin McInnes and Laura Loomer and others who had been banned from darkening the CPAC door. But of course in a larger sense, I was talking about all of you here now and so many others who’ve been forgotten in the past. Who’ve been relegated to our motley Valley of the Banned in one way or another, either by CPAC or ConInc.
It’s an intergenerational club. Nick Fuentes, Patrick Casey, VDARE and Peter Brimelow. Faith Goldy, Milo, Frank Gaffney, Pamela Geller, Robert Stacy McCain, Dinesh D’Souza, Ann Coulter, John Derbyshire, Jason Richwine, Darren Beattie, and on and on and on.
A fury had welled up inside me a year ago that had long been simmering. There was a time when CPAC did at least give the grassroots nationalists a seat at the table. And I’ll never forget this, because this was a very pivotal moment for me in my young career. 17 years ago when I had the privilege of teaming up with the original Godmother of America First, the Catholic author, lawyer and social conservative, mom of six and grandmother of 16, Phyllis Schlafly. . . .

Thanks for the shout-out, ma’am. Being in the Valley of the Banned is a tremendous honor, and I’m sorry I missed your event.

CPAC: Guilt by Association

NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland
The hate-watchers at the SPLC can click on that photo above to enlarge it. Peter Brimelow is author of the 1995 bestseller Alien Nation: Common Sense About America’s Immigration Disaster, and Michelle Malkin wrote the 2002 bestseller Invasion: How America Still Welcomes Terrorists, Criminals, And Other Foreign Menaces To Our Shores.

To see Brimelow and Malkin together at CPAC shows how the issue of immigration unites good Americans on one side — in favor of enforcing our laws and protecting our borders — just as it unites vicious swine of all kinds on the open-borders side of the issue. No one should ever doubt which side of that issue I am on, and let the SPLC crowd can call me a hater all they want. Brimelow is officially hate-listed by the SPLC, and you can see from her mentions at the SPLC website (e.g., “Trump Adviser, Hate Group Leaders and Anti-Immigrant Politicians Attend FAIR’s Hold Their Feet to the Fire”) what the poverty pimps in Montgomery think of Malkin. It’s a very simple trick of liberal rhetoric: First, declare that anyone who disagrees with your policy agenda is guilty of “hate” and then, using this phony definition, begin blacklisting the opposition, in order to silence dissent. This tactic will inevitably produce a defensive “flinch” reaction on the part of cowardly people who fear damage to their reputations, and who therefore will act as handmaidens to the hate-listers, by distancing themselves from the targeted “haters.”

Worst of all are people who call themselves “conservative” but in fact operate as a controlled opposition to liberals. Some of those people got called out by name in Malkin’s CPAC speech:

Congress has repeatedly mandated a nationwide visa entry-exit system to track legal short-term visa holders. But one has yet to be built—even in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which were perpetrated in part by several illegal alien visa overstayers. E-verify has been stalled. Sanctuary cities metastasized. And BOTH parties are to blame – yeah I’m looking at you, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, the Bush family, Mitt Romney and the ghost of John McCain. . . .
Color of Change and the smear machine racket known as the Southern Poverty Law Center use the same playbook to marginalize and criminalize mainstream conservatives, anti-jihad groups, and immigration hawks as “hate groups” and push us out of the public square. They conspire with payment processors and Silicon Valley to deprive the Right of our voices and our ability to make a living. So many speaking up and fighting on the front lines for liberty and security are being detwittered depaypaled defacebooked deplatformed — people like Laura Loomer and Gavin McInnes and the Center for Immigration Studies and Robert Spencer and so many others. . . .

It was a helluva of speech and sparked a helluva reaction. She’s an enormously courageous woman, and deserves your support.

‘She Keeps Score’

“Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining,” Colonel Fletcher says in The Outlaw Josey Wales. For the benefit of those readers not fluent in Redneck, permit me to translate: “Don’t screw me over and pretend like you’re not screwing me over.”

Washington, D.C., is a town crawling with thousands of selfish, cowardly, dishonest, backstabbing piss-ants and — reflecting on my decision in hindsight — I often wish I’d never left Georgia in 1997. Where I come from, a man who does good work is respected for his abilities. In D.C., the only abilities that matters are skillful deceit and treachery.

“The Red Wedding” in Game of Thrones is a daily ritual in D.C.

When you’re in a fight — and I’ve survived a few — you find out pretty quick who your friends are, because they will rush in to defend you and won’t stop punching until the fight is over.

Every man is custodian of his own honor. If an honest man says he has been injured, who will tell him that he is mistaken? Nothing infuriates me more than when someone directly insults me, and then pretends that I am wrong to take notice of their insult.

“Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.”

Being a peaceful man by nature, there are many insults I choose to ignore, but when I deign to take notice of an insult, I don’t expect my friends to question my judgment. If I am wrong — if the person who dissed me is not a lowdown worthless polecat — time will tell, and the responsibility for the dispute is mine alone. Selah.

“Honor culture” is not something you need an anthropology class to learn if you’re from the South. The first warning you’ll get if you insult a man — or his girlfriend — is likely to be a punch in the nose, and it’s rather difficult to protest that you intended no offense while the man is kicking you in the head. (Being a natural-born smart-ass, I share this useful wisdom learned from direct experience.) The reasons for this redneck tendency to fight over perceived insults are deeply rooted in culture, and often lamented by critics of the South, but the alternative to an “honor culture” is the kind of dishonorable backstabbing that typifies life among the cosmopolitan elite, such as the cowardly scum of Washington, D.C.

If you volunteer to be a doormat, you can’t complaint about the footprints on your back. Ignore too many snubs and insults, and pretty soon you’ll be snubbed and insulted routinely. You will notice, then, that Michelle Malkin calls attention to how Frank Luntz and Kellyann Conway sucked up to Stephen Colbert after his stupidly insulting “Ching-Chong Ding-Dong” episode.

Really? I mean, really? In a fight between Malkin and Colbert, you’re gonna side with Colbert? Unfortunately, Luntz and Conway weren’t the only conservative to make that foolish mistake:

Last week, American Spectator contributor Bill Zeiser wrote a blog item with the unfortunate headline, “Michelle Malkin Is Wrong.” The topic of the dispute — Stephen Colbert’s tasteless use of anti-Asian slurs — is interesting, but ultimately irrelevant to the point I wish to make, for the sake of Mr. Zeiser and anyone else who may read this now or in the future: Michelle Malkin keeps score.
On your short list of “People You Never Want to Go to War Against,” be sure to include her name at or near the top, because Michelle Malkin will win that war.
Bill Zeiser is a young fellow, and perhaps did not consider the foolish impropriety of his gesture when he decided to draw attention to himself with such a headline as “Michelle Malkin Is Wrong.” It would be most unfortunate if The American Spectator were to become collateral damage as a result.
The topic of the dispute is, as I say, ultimately irrelevant to the nature of the insult. One may disagree without being disrespectful, and if Mr. Zeiser does not think Michelle Malkin deserves respect, then (a) he needs to do some research, and (b) he needs to consult a psychiatrist, because he’s crazy. . . .

Read the whole thing at The American Spectator. Zeiser expressed remorse on Twitter this morning, and perhaps The Boss will consent to let him live, but I hope the lesson is clear.

Michelle Malkin Rips Up Arne Duncan

The battle against “Common Core” curriculum took a weird turn last week when Education Secretary Arne Duncan blamed opposition to this nonsense on “white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.” Ri-iight.

Michelle Malkin is on the warpath:

Over the last 10 months, Common Core has imploded under withering scrutiny from the tax-paying public, informed parents and educators, and more national media. States under both Republican and Democrat governors have adopted moratoria on the untested standards, withdrawn from the costly testing consortia, and retreated from partnerships with Common Core-promoting educational software data-miners like inBloom.
There’s much more to the fight than simple left-right divisions. The Common Core peddlers include meddling, Fed Ed Republicans from Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee to progressive billionaires Bill and Melinda Gates to Newscorp. media giant Rupert Murdoch and dozens of educational corporate special interests that stand to gain billions from the Common Core testing/textbook/data-mining boondoggle.
The Stop Common Core movement includes social conservatives, libertarians, teachers’ union members, charter school advocates, Catholic school principals, urban and suburban parents, New York City Democrats, Tea Party Republicans, homeschoolers, and concerned activists from all parts of the political spectrum concerned about the feds’ encroachment on family and student privacy.

Read the whole thing. Except for the 2006-2007 fight against John McCain’s amnesty plan, I’ve seldom seen her this fired-up.

If what’s wrong with our education system could be fixed by more federal money and more federal control, schools would have been steadily improving as federal involvement has vastly increased over the past several decades. The fact that a larger federal role in schools is not correlated with improvement — well, that’s evidence, isn’t it?

Mrs. Malkin Misapprehends: The Underside Of The Bus *IS* Your Healthcare Plan

by Smitty

It’s kind of a bummer to see #OccupyResoluteDesk so misinterpreted:

See, you’re going to have a plan that you can keep. All of the angst hinges around you learning to LIKE the thing. And that’s where the American people have really let our no-talent rodeo clown down. For some strange reason, we have refused to internalize the concept of rank incompetence and thuggery as the new excellence. Clearly the problem lies with us.

Via Instapundit, the fact that numbers are all morally equivalent helps soften the blow that ObamaCare will only insure half of the number previously taped to the shuttlecock down at the badminton court on Martha’s Vineyard. Pay no attention that, as with unemployment numbers, the actual values will likely prove significantly worse, once the value of deceiving people has diminished to the point the truth leaks out.

And so Harry ‘the Cadaver’ Reid is going to defend ObamaCare as though it were Greece, and our federal government the EuroZone.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) declared Thursday that any government funding legislation that takes away money for Obamacare has no chance of becoming law.
“In case there is any shred of doubt in the minds of our House counterparts, I want to be absolutely crystal clear,” Reid said at a news conference. “Any bill that defunds Obamacare is dead. Dead.”

And if anybody in DC is intimately familiar with rigor mortis conditions, it’s Ol’ Harry.

But let’s have none of that scurrilous, old-fashioned equality-before-the-law talk:

On Tuesday Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) indicated on the floor of the Senate he was “open to having a vote” on Senator David Vitter’s (R-LA) amendment to eliminate the Obamacare exemption for members of Congress, according to a Breitbart source on Capitol Hill. [Friday], however, he and his Democratic colleagues are singing a different tune, and the lyrics come straight from that timeless phrase used by hypocrites throughout American history: “What’s good for thee is not good for me.”

My thought, given the state of the slow-motion train-wreck, is that after suitable theater, Congress delays the ObamaCare debacle a year, and tries to get some of the infrastructure more ready. I doubt that the Democrats have any regard for ObamaCare itself; it’s never been more than a stepping stone to Single Prayer, anyway. As long as it’s achieving its purpose of being a Cloward-Piven wrecking ball, why would the Democrats care?

The danger to the Dems, as the sleeping giant of liberty continues to awake, is that a delay permits drags the economy down, and more information about how diabolically false the entire undertaking to circulate. That could affect the 2014 vote.

Suggestion: hire John Cleese for a series of PSAs at NFL games, trying to sell “ObamaCareTross” and/or “CrapNados”:

This Will Not End Well for the Donald

So, the Vulgar King of Obnoxiousness decided to throw down on Twitter with Michelle Malkin, and perhaps this reminder is unnecessary:

Trump has a rather long history of hostility toward conservatives like Malkin, a New York Times bestselling author and New Media entrepreneur who created the popular Hot Air political blog as well as the innovative Twitter aggregation site Twitchy, as well as her own highly trafficked site, MichelleMalkin.com. It is highly unlikely that she will back down in her battle with Trump.

Trump is a bully who is used to pushing people around and, unfortunately, some Republicans have been willing to enable his bullying. Quite frankly, he’s one of those celebrity characters — like Geraldo “El Spitto” Rivera — whom Fox News executives tolerate because they’re good for ratings. Also (and I think I’m not the only one who sees this) there’s a kind of old-boys attitude with Bill O’Reilly in particular: Geraldo and Trump are “one of the guys,” and so the brass at Fox are apt to indulge their hateful attitudes toward Malkin. But don’t for a minute think that Malkin is  going to put up with Trump’s bullying.

Memo From the Lunatic Fringe: LGF Attacking ‘Anchor Baby Malkin’

Diary of Daedalus shows that a Little Green Footballs commenter got 11 “updings” for this insightful offering:

More fake outrage against our First Lady: Anchor Baby Malkin fails miserably at attempting to mock the First Lady’s “Evolution of Mom Dancing.”
The Obama Derangement Syndrome is more dangerous than syphilis.

Here is the video that inspired the LGF comment:

Leaving aside entirely the epithet “anchor baby” (which leftists have falsely used for years against Malkin, the daughter of legal immigrants), where is the evidence that Malkin was trying to stir up “fake outrage”? She was merely parodying Michelle Obama’s dancing with Jimmy Fallon of “Saturday Night Live.”

Thin-skinned liberals can’t take a joke. And their indignation toward alleged right-wing racists is . . . well, convenient.

If We Had Wanted an Obama-Hugging Sellout, Charlie Crist Would Be a Senator

Marco Rubio leading the RINO Squish Amnesty Parade? After so many conservatives personally vouched for Marco’s bona fides as The Real Deal? Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss:

Hey, did someone set the clock back six years in Washington? Because today looks a hell of a lot like the dawn of the Bush-Kennedy-McCain 2007 illegal alien amnesty. Deja vu all over again.
Starring in the role of John McCain this time around? Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio. . . .

Marco, you think you’re gonna double-cross Michelle Malkin and get away with it? Damn, I thought you were smarter than that . . .
