Cheering For Idaho, Virginia, And Levin

The folks hang their hats out west:
BOISE, Idaho — Idaho took the lead in a growing, nationwide fight against health care overhaul Wednesday when its governor became the first to sign a measure requiring the state attorney general to sue the federal government if residents are forced to buy health insurance.
Similar legislation is pending in 37 other states.
And my own state seems to have located fortitutde:
A spokesman for Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) said this afternoon that Virginia will file suit against the federal government if the Democratic health care reform bill is approved by the U.S. Congress.
Cuccinelli has long said he was examining the legal issues and suggested he would likely file suit. Brian Gottstein, a spokesman for the office, said this afternoon that a lawsuit is now a definite. Gottstein would provide no details of the legal rationale for such a suit, indicating the process is “still being worked out.”
Of course, Levin is in hot standby (via Insty).
For the Progressives, we’re fond of quoting Clan Cameron around here:
Chlanna Nan con Thigibh
A So’s Gheibh Sibh Feoil!(Sons of dogs, come hither and get flesh!)
This sorry wishful thinking on the part of some that the popular discontent is transient, and we’ll all just learn to enjoy the collar over time will stand thoroughly repudiated.
What will be truly shocking for these nannyists is that the backlash over BHO is so severe as to trigger reform of previous nonsense like the Great(ly Indebted) Society and the New(ly Impoverishing) Deal.
My dream of seeing an unprecedented Article V cram-down from the States, while still so distant as to be impossible in the foreseeable future, becomes measurably closer.
The alternative is to see Congress become less recognizable. Its current trajectory has it becoming as feckless and symbolic as the Roman Senate (not to get too lost in the Roman comparison, mind you).
One expects to hear more news from the usual suspects, Texas and Montana, along these lines. God bless the efforts of these State legislators.
