National Offend a Feminist Week 2010

Posted on | May 2, 2010 | 80 Comments

Wow, has it really been an entire year since May 2, 2009, when we inaugurated this tradition? To quote the charter:

Hey, sweetheart, when I say “bring me a cup of coffee,” I mean bring me fresh coffee, OK?

Bloggers: It is once again National Offend A Feminist Week. Your expressions of reactionary, oppressive, patriarchal, misogynistic traditionalism are solicited. Search your mind, search the Internet, and come up with a post guaranteed to make Jessica Valenti even angrier than usual.

Please link here for inclusion in a special honor roll listing next weekend. Extra credit for women who find some way to enthusiastically embrace their traditional femininity. Now hurry up with that coffee, sweetheart. And make sure it’s fresh this time . . .

I think I may have something on offer that’ll knock your socks off! What’s the deadline, McCain?

You’ve got a week, Professor, but any time’s a good time to offend a feminist!

I just started ironing church linens. With light starch per Father’s preference.

And I don’t iron for myself if I can avoid it.

    That oughtta piss someone off!

A professor told dirty jokes in class and the women wanted to protest it. So they decided that the next time the professor started telling such jokes they would all leave the classroom in protest.

Somehow the professor heard about the plan.

In the next class, at the beginning of the lecture he said: “In Sweden a prostitute makes $2000 per night.”

All the women stood up and started to leave the class. So he shouted after them: “Where are you going? The next flight to Sweden isn’t until the day after tomorrow.”

When I was in law school, the Womens’ Law Caucus hosted a reception, which was open to all, with freebie soda and munchies, et cetera.

When I went there, one of the organizers, whom I knew from some of my classes, was having trouble opening a gallon bottle of apple juice. She asked me to help her open it, which I did.

And after I opened it, and she thanked me, I said, very audibly,

“Isn’t it nice to have a man around?”
