Will Senator Kyl Get Introduced To Bartonism?

RedState (and half the rest of the right-o-sphere) has the clip of Senator Kyl telling an audience

that during a private, one-on-one meeting with President Obama in the Oval Office, the President told him, regarding securing the southern border with Mexico, “The problem is, . . . if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”

Taken literally, that seems a gross departure from the concept of, you know, Commander in Chief, national defense, public service, etc. And I don’t doubt that he 49% meant it. The realpolitik will be that the legislation that goes up for vote will be chock full of poison pills for the GOP to swallow. Such is the nature of non-Federal tasking polluting the Federal government.

The 51% argument is going to be that BHO was ‘just joking’. It’s all hyperbole, you see. Bait for the nuance-free right wing jerks, knee-jerks, and off-jerks.

I predict a relatively legless kerfuffle here, that, at its apex, will turn into an apology from Senator Kyl, maybe. More likely, it will help Governor Brewer further solidify the SB 1070 support.

Kyl could run on that in just about any state in the Union. Somewhere between 60 and 70% of Americans know Obama’s not going to secure the border.

He better not apologize. I am sick to death of the republican “leadership” saying they are sorry for speaking the truth.

Neither side is willing to secure the borders. It is going to take a large number of dead before it will be done unless we stand up and force them to.

Barton never should have apologized for saying that the President overstepped his bounds of the constitution, and neither should Kyl.

I think Obama will just flatly deny he said this, or claim Kyl misunderstood him.

The GOP will come to regret not standing by Barton, whose remarks were politically unpopular but completely accurate. If the President can “have a little talk” with one of the largest corporations in the world and force them to set up a “fund” his appointee will administer without any basis in law at all, WHO among us can ever resist this new executive power?

The catastrophic element of Barton’s was apologizing to BP, if he hadn’t made that part of his statement he would not have gotten smacked so hard by his friends. The leadership’s reaction seems cowardly.Barton spoke the truth, however sometimes not sharing all the “truth” you posses is the better part of common sense if not valor.

The PLAN announced today that they will have a frigate task force in Oakland harbor next week, following the blockading of a Chinese freighter by anti-Israeli and anti-American activists, to protect “legitimate Chinese national interests.”

The WH issued a statement saying Obama wanted to stop the invading fleet, but ““The problem is, . . . if we sink the frigates, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”
