Why Does RINO Mike Castle Want to ‘Kill Jobs and Drive Up Prices on Everything’?

Posted on | July 26, 2010 | 52 Comments

Delaware Rep. Mike Castle was one of the infamous gang whom Michelle Malkin dubbed the “Waxman-Markey 8” — liberal Republican members of the House who voted for Nancy Pelosi’s job-killing energy tax bill last year.

Now, running for the Senate, Castle is essentially asking for the opportunity to vote for cap-and-trade again — potentially becoming the key Senate RINO necessary to avoid a filibuster and pass the bill in the post-Nov. 2 lame duck session that Charles Krauthammer has been worried about. So, to stop that job-killer, we need a RINO killer:

“Passing Cap and Trade would throw sand into the gears of the American economy,” said Christine O’Donnell. “It would cripple our already struggling markets, taxing goods and services at every point of production and consumption. This bill would kill jobs and drive up prices on everything from peanuts to gasoline.”Rising in the polls, Christine O’Donnell has taken the offensive against her opponent Mike Castle’s voting record. Castle was rated one of the most liberal Republicans in Congress by the American Conservative Union.
“I will continue to hold Mike Castle to account for his liberal voting record,” said O’Donnell. “He has already voted for Cap and Tax, and he will do it again.”

Read the whole thing.  Let’s face it: The only difference between Mike Castle and Dede Scozzafava is lipstick and a pair of pantyhose.

BTW, my post yesterday about Team O’Donnell adding staffers from last year’s Doug Hoffman NY-23 campaign seems to have both Castle’s RINO supporters and Delaware Democrats sweating bullets. Tweet from Steve Foley:

@ericjodom Intense meeting @repmikecastle office allegedly on how to deal with the conservative goon squad http://twitpic.com/28wlv5 #DESEN

And one of the smarter commenters at the Delaware Liberal blog said:

I wonder if any of these guys has juice with Palin? If they pull in that endorsement, all bets are off. . . .
Moderate Republicans who laugh these guys off will be sorry.

Clearly, the O’Donnell campaign’s momentum is getting the attention of important people, including the overpaid sellout RINO operatives working for Castle. Maybe the pressure will cause those GOP Establishment swine to go negative early. It’s probably only a matter of time before the call in Will Folks to “reluctantly admit” to an affair with O’Donnell. Maybe they’re saving the real slime (“She’s a secret Muslim!”) until after O’Donnell pulls ahead in the polls, like they did to Nikki Haley.

Meanwhile, will Democrats run away from President O’Carter?

If these comments are an example of the brain power arrayed against him, Castle beats O’Donnell easily.

Castle is no Scozzafava and Delaware Republicans, aside form a few pockets, are mostly RINO’s by your standards. You’ll raise some money for Ms. O’Donnell from RINO haters, but you need to raise votes in Delaware to win.

I’m not counting you out, but you are going to have to raise your game.

Pay no attention to anon. They post anywhere Delaware is mentioned and pretend to have a clue. The reality in Delaware is that the Conservatives have abandoned the GOP in many ways. There are enough registered Republican conservatives for O’Donnell to beat Castle but she will need some money to do it. By some I mean less than a state Senate race in most places. Anything over $500,000 is cake for her. The movement is there and all she needs are the slightest nudges.

Do you guys really think the dems can hold on to enough senate seats this Nov. so as to count on a possible Castle vote in order to avoid a filibuster with support from other known GOP RINOs on this bill?

You guys are supposed to win a net of at least SIX senate seats isn’t it? How is Castle relevant in this scenario, so as to become the key RINO to make the 60th vote?

    My turn:
Sometimes it helps to cut and paste the whole sentence.:

As a special election for an open seat, the Delaware winner will be seated immediately, not with the next Congress, and so will be able to vote during the lame duck session. (Just so everyone is clear on that).

I tend to agree with DE anon that potential Republican voters in Delaware are not conservatives – just look at who they’ve elected in recent decades. Even Bill Roth, co-author with Jack Kemp of what eventually became “the Reagan tax cut,” would be considered a RINO by today’s standards.

Like most here, I’m much closer to O’Donnell’s positions, but I’m not convinced the same is true of Delaware voters even in a GOP year. It’s one thing to depose Bennett in Utah, where the seat is safe anyway. It’s another to put seats at risk in more competitive states, and especially in blue states like Delaware.

In the end, will Castle’s Senate voting be so far off Scott Brown’s? Yet Brown is a hero for taking a solid Democratic seat in MA, while Castle is reviled for being able to take one in DE. How does this make sense in the real world?

    You are 100% incorrect Robert.

    1. Scozzafava and Castle are nothing alike in two senses: 1. Castle has always supported the Republican, and 2. Delaware is a liberal state and NY 23 is a Conservative district. Just as Scozzafava wasn’t a fit in NY 23, O’Donnell is not a fit in Delaware.

    2. Castle will vote for McConnell to become the new Majority Leader when Republicans gain 51 seats in the Senate, which will effectively kill all chances of a cap and crap bill.

    3. Castle has voted with us on every major piece of legislation thus far – stimulus, health care, financial reform, etc. etc. etc.

While Castle may be near the bottom in Illinois we have the guy on the bottom with Democrats more conservative above him. Mark Kirk and he is the Republican running for the US senate seat Obummer had. He got a F- for his anti gun stance, is pro late term partial birth abortions and was one of the eight voting for Cap and Trade which is meant to kill the coal industry.

He represents a state with many coal mines and coal fired power plants. It would cause the loss of tens of thousands of jobs in the coal industry and destroy many small towns reliant on them. The ripple effects causing hundreds of thousands of jobs lost.

The worst thing is the Republican Party supported him in the very short duration primary the and now in the upcoming Nov election. They might of well as supported a Democrat. Look for Kirk to change parties al la Spector if he is elected.

Problem is McConnell will have to destroy Ruling Class Republicans who support Global Warming Fraud.

Does McConnell have the balls to take on Ruling Class Republicans Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and Tim Pawlenty?

No he won’t because wanna-be Ruling Class suck-ups have no balls.

I see people haven’t done a scintilla of research into O’Donnell before jumping onto the RINO witchhunt parade. (Not that Castle isn’t one, but it’s Delaware for crying out loud. This isn’t the same state Bill Roth represented years ago)

O’Donnell faces a TON of questionable issues that will be used to EASILY crush her if she were to somehow get the nomination. She’s a perennial candidate with no real record of accomplishments who has a record of financial issues (including shady FEC reports that seemingly show she used campaign money to pay for her personal household expenses, which is, you know, illegal!)
