Jim Moran Knees All Service Members In The Groin. A Hidden Message, Though?

RetireJimMoran.com notes the obvious cheap shot at the military in this two-week old clip:

What [Republicans] do is that they find candidates – usually stealth candidates – that haven’t been in office, haven’t served or performed any kind of public service. My opponent is typical.

The obvious slam here is the attack on service to the public in the military as somehow not being public service.
However, consider the audience. This is the Arlington County Democratic Committee. The audience in VA-8 isn’t just your garden variety Democrat. Without going too far on a limb, this ACDC likely has an abnormally high representation of Federal bureaucrats and lobbyists. The faceless, unelected, mostly unaccountable twerps who, termite-like, gnaw at the foundations of our liberty.
After denigrating 24 years of honorable military service in the first half, the second half of the clip is more interesting:

And of course, for 24 years, he’s taken a government check because, frankly, the military still is part of the Federal government, uh, and, yet, his principle platform is to cut government spending.

What is the implication here, Moran? That an Army Colonel was on the dole for two and a half decades, and is somehow biting the hand that feeds? Showing ingratitude toward his Ruling Class elite betters, i.e. you? Should Patrick Murray have simply taken a job with one of PMA’s clients, and got on the ‘beltway bandit’ gravy train? Would that have made his interest in supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States less odious to you, assuming proper campaign contributions?
Jim Moran acts like a status quo fat cat. The sort of elite, aristocratic snob who, 235 years ago, would like have supported King George III against the American Revolution. The kind of dead wood Democrat who needs to go on 02 November. The kind of patronage-loving upper class boob who supports every atrocious, economy-wrecking policy that the Gnomes of Capitol Hill crank out by the ream.
Tying Moran’s broad way to destruction with his audience, ACDC, we’ll end this rant with a video about where the ideas of Moran, Nancy Pelosi, and this Administration will lead this country, if we don’t elect leaders like Patrick Murray and retire Jim Moran:

    Yeah, he gets to stand up there and make those remarks because the crazies around the world that mean us harm don’t dare because of men like him. It is amazing to me that he and his ilk don’t get it.

    I can’t vote for Murray, but I will be back at his headquarters a few more times before election day.

    This Moron has no concept what it’s like to serve your country by potentially putting your life on the line for fellow citizens. I’m one of the lucky Veterans who missed the horrors of war. A lot of our relatives, friends and neighbors weren’t so lucky. We, and the people who we elect to public office, should thank our lucky stars for the folks who give and gave their all to protect us and our Constitution. We need to thank them every time we see a Veteran or current service member.

    Has Anyone Noticed That 65 Year Old “Little Jimmy” Moran was a Vietnam Era Draft Dodger?

    Now that the Rep. “Little Jimmy” Moran (D-VA 8) Youtube video rant that “military service is not public service” has gone viral on the Internet, I’m surprised no one is asking how “Little Jimmy” managed to Dodge the Draft despite being of optimum draft age during Vietnam (DOB: 16 May 45). As a retired Army Colonel who was drafted (went to OCS as a “US”) and was a 2LT in Vietnam before I was old enough to legally drink, I’m appalled by “Little Jimmy’s” comment on the service record of his opponent, retired U.S. Army Col. Patrick Murray, in the VA 8th Congressional District race. On 6 Oct, Jimmy stated, “What [Republicans] do is that they find candidates – usually stealth candidates – that haven’t been in office, haven’t served or performed any kind of public service. My opponent is typical.” COL Murray served his country for 24 years in the U.S. Army with four combat zone deployments including Iraq as part of the troop surge.

    Like his mentor, good old Joe “5-Deferment” Biden (and Dick Cheney I might add to be fair), it appears “Little Jimmy” did everything short of maiming himself (which he didn’t have the guts to do) to dodge the Draft during Vietnam. By comparison, COWARDs like these guys make “George W” look like a war hero! (For the record, Bush flying antique Air National Guard Convair F-102s was probably in more danger than I was during an extended CIB-earning tour in Vietnam!). Active military service was an absolute certainty for any male born between 1940 and 1949 unless he was morally, mentally or medically unfit, or took some overt action to “dodge” the draft. Also, draft quotas were assigned by draft board so when “Little Jimmy” evaded, someone else, probably less educated or advantaged and definitely less eligible, served in his place.

    My point, if “Little Jimmy” wasn’t fit to serve when his country needed him during Vietnam, what makes him fit to serve now? Better still, what makes him more fit to serve than combat vet COL (Ret) Pat Murray?

    Excellent post and excellent comments. I wished I’d thought to check into the moron’s dodging the draft before I posted on Moran’s dissing the military. On that basis, since I’ve never been a politician, I guess I’m imminently qualified to point out “Little Jimmy” is nothing but a self-agrandizing public leach.
