Herman Cain Records Moving 9/11 Tribute, Alex Pareene Calls It ‘Tasteless’

Posted on | September 9, 2011 | 73 Comments

First, watch Herman Cain’s video:

Alex Pareene of Salon calls it “incredibly tasteless” and a “monstrosity.”

Hey, Alex, since you’re offering your expertise in what’s “tasteless,” I got three words for you: Ping-pong balls.

We must never, never, never, never forget that, eh?

Vermin are most offended by truth and light.  They consider both to be “tasteless” and “monstrous”.

Salon…Yeah, isn’t this the “hate America first” crowd? So let me get this straight, political candidates are not allowed to pay tribute to 9/11?

They’re just pissed that bin Laden didn’t take those towers down a couple of years earlier so Clinton could take advantage of it.

    Yeah, I went there.

I used to try to avoid being retraumatized by what happened 10 years ago. I don’t do that anymore. This video needs to be seen. We were attacked. We need to be sorrowful and we need to be angry. This is not a call to service this is a f*cking call to war.

And there’s nothing wrong with going there. There were enough leftists insisting the government under Bush was behind 9/11 you have to wonder how much of that amounted to projection.

The video is appropriate and Herman Cain does a really nice job with God Bless American. The very first scene is jarring, and I hope it will be anything less. Can you imagine any Liberal singing God Bless America with any scene from 9/11/01 in the background? Asked more accurately, can you imagine any American singing God Bless America? I already have Herman’s video as a sticky post planned for tomorrow morning and it will stay on top until Sunday night.

I certainly understand how a slimy little leftist punk like Pareene would find “God Bless America” and news footage from 9/11 tasteless.

To get a positive response from Pareene, you’d need to put together a documentary proclaiming the glorious achievements of Chairman Mao, and not mention the USA or 9/11 and especially God in any way.

I think where Herman messed up was more a sin of omission. If he had said at the end something along the lines of “but really folks, we brought it all on ourselves, and we need to learn a lesson from that”, not only would Salon have hailed it as a visionary video, but Herman would have already replaced Jon Huntsman as the leftists preferred GOP candidate.

Note how Alex at the end of the rant wants people to avoid watching tv all weekend least they see 9/11 pics and vids?

He doesn’t care that America was attacked or Americans died because it didn’t further HIS political ideology.

If people are reminded too much of 9/11 it tends to stir up feelings of patriotism, so naturally people that support Democrat candidates wouldn’t want that.

All week, National Geographic channel has been running specials about 9/11 with lots and lots of shocking footage, and yet haven’t been denounced by Pareene. But Herman Cain singing “God Bless America,” that’s “tasteless”?

But I will add that I do think Mr. Cain should have left off the Cain For President bit. I think the video up until the last frame (8 seconds) was fine. The inclusion of his campaign ad made it a little less “from the heart”.

I always took the song  as being a thankful song.  I think 9/11 was pretty thankless, so it seemed quite contradictory to be singing that song while showing the video of God letting down American theists (and obviously not letting down the foreign Islamist type theist).

Apparently the guy singing it is running for president so making the video seems like using a tragedy to pander for votes.

  31. Brian Macker
    September 10th, 2011 @ 1:25 pm

Go to the 1:55 mark in the video and you will see what this was all about,  “Herman Cain President 2012”.    So it doesn’t just “seem” like he is pandering for votes; he is pandering for votes.   So no “hate” there.

Not sure how my comment was about hate.  I was being truthful about the motivations of the mass murderers.    I was being truthful  that 9/11 is not an example of  God’s blessing.   Guys in your camp like Jerry Falwell have admitted that.   Unfortunately in order to maintain the illusion that God is on Americas side  in his  mind and the mind of his followers he quiet hatefully blamed 9/11 on pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays, the ACLU, and (of all groups) People for the American Way.

Ironic that you responded to my comment because it was your hate filled comment that motivated me to comment myself.   You wrote, “Vermin are most offended by truth and light.  They consider both to be tasteless and monstrous. ”

It is doubly ironic that it is the truth in my comment that offended you, given your statement about vermin.

How “Christian” of you to go around people who are honest about reality “vermin” and “piece of shit”.   I mean  the Bible enumerates  2,476,636 killings by God, and estimates range up to 24,634,205.  Meanwhile the bible only enumerates ten killings by  Satan (with an estimated 50 more).  .   Ironically God participated in those ten murders by Satan of Job’s seven son’s and three daughters.  It was over a bet on what a swell guy Job was, and by “swell” I mean a sycophant wishing to get into heaven.

What’s interesting about the story of Job is that Satan is powerless to harm Job’s children until God removes his protection in order to set the stage for the bet.    It’s as if you had children and hand them over to a murdering pedophile to test their loyalty.

Presumably god knew Jobs character.   Why does Satan’s opinion even matter, and why is it a justification to murder Job’s children, destroy his livestock, and cover him in boils?

Certainly the same rules would apply to 9/11.   Which is why Falwell makes the kind of statements he does.

The story of Job supposedly has a happy ending because he is restored, to health, twice as much livestock, and a brand new family to replace the old one.    How monstrous and hateful is that?

The victims 9/11 don’t even get new families or twice as much stuff. Plus they were victimized by people far less powerful than Satan.   Seems like if you believe the bible this might be another one of God’s bets, except in this case his victims got a much worse deal.

There is a more honest ways of understanding why bad things happen to good people than invoking gods blessings and punishments.  There is nothing hateful about it, and in fact the opposite is true.   Believing god blesses or curses people on earth can only lead to the hateful notion these innocent victims deserved their fate while criminals living high off the spoils of their crimes and evade detection deserve theirs.

I think of “God Bless America” as a prayer of gratitude and calling for Divine guidance and protection. It’s clearly the love song of an immigrant for his adopted nation.

Pandering? Right. And if this were a video produced by Organizing for America or any other re-election Obama machine? Wait…that’s not even within the realm of imagination, is it. Sorry.

I probably don’t have a place in this discussion, but if there is a God, the way I understand it is he’s a God that believes in liberty and the freedom of the individual to make his own choices. With that freedom comes some degree of responsibility. If you make your own choices, then you have to live with the consequences. Otherwise, what’s the point of living in freedom? You are supposed to learn from your mistakes and adjust to reality. So you could say in a sense freedom is illusory, but its orders of magnitude better than a human government bureaucracy dictating in what ways you can be free and in what ways you cannot. That will always, eventually if not immediately, lead to the boot heel of the state on your neck. Pretty much like we’re seeing it more and more here in this country.

Job is a symbolic story. You’re not supposed to take that literally. Of course that’s just my opinion. It was an attempt to explain why bad things happen and why God allows them to happen. I don’t think very highly of it, personally. Actually, and again this is just my opinion, but it seems to have originally been an Edomite story that the Israelite priesthood adapted. Check the area where Job is said to have lived.

By the way, since the government is going to force me to buy CFL bulbs with poisonous mercury instead of the traditional tried and tested incandescents I’ve grown up with, what do you think the chances are the government will foot the bill cleaning my house of mercury poisoning if I break one of the damn things. It would only be right since they are forcing me to use the damn things, but I’d say the chances of that are slim and none.

But its the little things like that that show you in what direction we’re sliding, further and further away from liberty, and towards dictatorship.

So your complaint is he is using it for a campaign song? Okay, I kind of see your point, even though I don’t agree with it, but ask yourself this. What’s wrong with a candidate expressing his love for America and his anger towards those who attacked us. Isn’t that what candidates do all the time on the campaign trail? Even some libtard Democrats do that. Most of them probably aren’t sincere, but they do it. At least Cain is sincere, in my opinion. Your problem seems to be the use of the song. Me, I don’t have a problem with it

“Ping-Pong Ball Boy?”  I spent three wonderful summers working as a ping-pong ball boy.  That’s how I worked my way through high school.  It was hard work, but I got to travel all over the YMCA, learn a little bit about life, and  meet some fine athletes .   In fact, that’s how I met my future wife.  Any time now I’m sure she’ll agree to marry me.  I’m going to ask her again as soon as the restraining order expires.

On the issue of free will I’m a compatiblist, and I don’t see where your first paragraph fits in.      I don’t see how you derived the partial statement “So you could say in a sense freedom is illusory …” since it doesn’t follow from your claims, and I certainly wasn’t making such an argument.

We aren’t going to forgive either, not ever. One of the most disappointing things about all of coverage is that video of the Palestinians celebrating is seldom mentioned and even less frequently shown.
