Allred and Bialek’s Ex-Boyfriend: ‘No Wonder He Didn’t Want to Answer Questions’

Posted on | November 14, 2011 | 35 Comments

Professor William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection has video of Gloria Allred’s press conference today with the ex-boyfriend of Cain accuser Sharon Bialek.

This whole story strikes me as profoundly weird: At the Bialek press conference last week, Allred waved a couple of affidavits from people to whom Bialek previously told her story — as if this proved something. But if all Bialek has is one side of a “he-said/she-said,” what does it matter that her ex-boyfriend attests to her side of the story?

So then today, Allred brought out the ex-boyfriend, Dr. Victor Zuckerman, for his own press conference, at which he read his statement and refused to take questions. And then Professor Jacobson did a quick search and discovered some details of Dr. Zuckerman’s 2010 bankruptcy:

In May 2010 (after the bench trial, but before the judgment was entered) Stratford Pediatric sold its assets to Central DuPage Hospital for $333,000.00 in cash. This money was mostly transferred to Zuckerman’s personal accounts. He soon went on a gambling and day trading spree and lost all of the money. In July 2010, Zuckerman moved to Louisiana. On September 15, 2010, Zuckerman filed a chapter 11 petition in the Western District of Louisiana. His creditors include, among others, Stratford Center (with claims of $675,000.00), his ex-wife (with claims of $89,000.00), and the IRS (with claims of $50,000.00).

So this guy blew more than $300,000 in a gambling spree, declared bankruptcy owing more than $800,000, while Bialek herself has a shaky financial history (never mind the cryptic comments of Bill Kurtis) and the other named accuser, Karen Kraushaar, seems to be a habitual complainant. Everybody keeps saying, “Four accusers! Where there’s smoke, there must be fire!” but when examined critically, the accusers whose names we know don’t seem especially upstanding people. What would we learn about the other two anonymous accusers if they weren’t anonymous?

Anyway, back to Gloria Allred:

Allred says it’s time for Cain to admit he does know Bialek, and “fully disclose” the specifics of the allegations against him. Cain’s strategy of “blanket denials simply won’t work,” she says.

This is absurd: Herman Cain says he doesn’t remember this woman whom, according to her, he met exactly twice in 1997. Since then, Cain has run for Senate in Georgia, built a career as a radio talk-show host, survive Stage 4 cancer, spoken at scores of Tea Party rallies, and launched a yearlong campaign for president. Yet if such a busy man says he doesn’t remember a woman he supposedly met twice 14 years ago, Allred wants us to conclude, Cain must be lying!

And if Cain is innocent, what’s wrong with “blanket denials”? Allred would have made a fine prosecutor in the Moscow show trials.

The stories so far seem a lot of BS and exaggeration and may very well prove to be an orchestrated hit job.  Someone really wants to take Cain out.  My guess is Perry’s team may have leaked some of this, but I doubt they set this up.  This has an Axelrod stink to it.

I still worry. Cain’s defense comes from a willingness to examine the facts and a basic knowledge of how tough it is to run a business in this country, especially Chicago. So the whole Liberal base is out.

I don’t think Alldred would have done well at all in thirties Russia, she’d have been thrown in a cell for “wrecking”.

Nice piece. Links well worth following. Another All-Red client with credibility in tatters.

“Allred would have made a fine prosecutor in the Moscow show trials.”

I doubt it-  even Stalin required a more convincing case than this

Why is he there?  Allred’s trying to salvage what she can of Bialek’s credibility after her personal history came out.

This is the old boyfriend from back at the time of the alleged conduct, if she told him about it even if in general terms back then it makes her story sound better now.  She made no complaint then against Cain, but hasn’t been shy about complaining at other jobs, it’s legitimate to question why she comes forward now.  The boyfriend gives an explanation of that – “she just wanted to drop it and forget it” – and also helps against the claim she is inventing the whole thing, as it’s a strange thing to have invented 12 years ago to use now.

You don’t have to believe him, his credibility is certainly questionable as well.  But that’s why Allred brought him forward.

Now she gets to issue another demand for Cain to “come clean.”  She gets another round on the news and cable news talk shows.  It’s more free publicity, reinforcing her carefully crafted image as  a heavyweight celebrity lawyer and also as a legal consultant or expert for those shows later, which in turn gives more publicity.

You can talk all you want about her “having no case” or it having “crashed and burned” but there she is, on television.  Hard to calculate recessionary rates, but I’m seeing at least a million bucks in free advertising so far, for an investment of a couple of plane tickets and maybe a few grand to a local attorney to prepare the actual affidavits.  I don’t need a calculator to figure out how that works for her.

Look, I can’t stand the sound of the woman’s voice, but it’s just dumb to think she is in any way getting beat here.  At the end of the day, no matter how the whole thing comes out and ends up, the big winner will be Gloria Allred.  She knows her game and plays it to perfection.

Oh course Axelrod should have just waited for Riehl, Ace and Allah.

Yes and no.  Allred gets no payout with Cain.  Who can she sue years after the alleged events?  But Allred is getting lots of high value free publicity.

The real problem for Cain is Riehl, Allah, Ace and NRO have a point.  And that is a lot worse for him than Gloria Allred.

No, if it was coordinated Allred would be in charge.  No way she plays a supporting role.  Al Sharpton wouldn’t try to get between Gloria and a TV camera.

    November 15th, 2011 @ 4:21 am

She’s not even threatening to sue him.  Heck, that would involve stuff you could actually prove, hundreds of hours of work on contingency for a fee you know you’ll never collect.

She’s there for the publicity.  If anybody gets a book deal, she’ll be happy to represent them, but the value of all this national advertising dwarfs all that chump change.  It’s better than commercials – she is on the news as a big-time player.  It’s costing her a couple of plane tickets.  One big case she snags because of it could fly her for the rest of her life.

I have no idea why people keep mentioning this weird “invented 14 years ago to use now” concept.  It makes no sense in any discussion about the present at all.

The fact is, she tried to soak the NRA once.  Justified or not, that’s about the only provable fact of this situation.

It doesn’t matter–then or now–how many people knew about it at the time.

Especially in a few more years when things “fourteen years old” are on facebook, still, for everyone to see.  It’s a nothing of an argument to say “look who else knew about what she said.”

Oh, they always have a point.  It’s just that sometimes it’s a vanishingly small one, that they’ve magnified to appear equal to the Magna Carta or something.

We’ll see if Cain takes actual damage.  Those guys have been whining about the candidates so damned much it’s getting hard to read anything they write about this primary process.

(It get’s old seeing people write about how imperfect a candidate is, and in the same post, complain about those who apparently demand “purity” or whatever.)

Nah, she’s just a useful idiot in this.  Remember how Levin was saying “I’ll bet Gloria Allred is already on the phone with some of these women,” several days before Allred came up with the campy, scripted accuser.

Hey, they got a difference in memory of a conversation and a corrupt jury to send Scooter Libby to jail. Why not file a lawsuit in Chicago and take your chances? It’s not like the RINO contingent won’t throw Cain under the bus.

These women all have an Obama connection.  The last thing Obama wants to do is to run against a conservative black man… it kind of takes away his ability to claim racism by the republican canidate..  Read more of the Obama connection here:  http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2011-11-09.html

Ewww . . . brain bleach! What, Gloria Allred was not satisfied with her personal needs being met by TSA gropers?

We knew that Axelrod is a creepy little man. But who would have suspected he’d be willing to pay THAT disgusting price in enlisting help to carry out his high-tech lynchings?

No doubt Cain is being ganged up on.  But Cain does say a lot of stupid stuff.   The lies broke up his momentum and his weak comments are going to stop him from getting it back.  This is a real problem.  I want to give him the benefit of doubt, because unlike Romney, I think he is a real conservative.  But I worry he may not be up for this job.  It is a concern.

Adjoran, she is not that smart.  Allred is shrewd and oportunistic for a publicity moment, but she is not the brains behind this hit.

If this is an orchestrated hit job with absolutely no truth to it, I am glad that there  is a just  God and the truth will come out in God’s time because I don’t find much hope for justice here. It makes me nauseous that there are such evil people in the world, but I guess I should not be surprised.

I think he’s totally up for the “job” part of the deal. It’s the campaign that he has to get through that causes me to want to hedge my bets.

I’ve always worried about his health relative to this process, but I figure if we can get two good years from him, and a solid VP pick, that would be worth voting for him, even with the health risks he faces.

Of course, I wonder if he’d do something like pick Romney as VP.
