Andrew Breitbart in CPAC Video:
‘This Is the Charles Johnson Special’

Posted on | March 2, 2012 | 72 Comments

Thanks to I Own the World for this memorable video moment in which Andrew Breitbart poses for a photo with Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, featuring a surprise cameo appearance:

People who get the joke are laughing their asses off. Everybody else is wondering, “Who is Charles Johnson?”

UPDATE: Professor Reynolds gets the joke. And Charles Johnson just called me a “racist piece of s–” on Twitter.

We must each do our own small part to carry on the legacy.

I first ran across Charles Johnson and LGF, when I was still a liberal democrat, and even then I could tell something was not right with that man. I grew up viewing republicans as people I might disagree with, but didn’t hate them. Johnson was an absolutely vile person, so I ‘m not suprised he revealed himself as the Marxist that he and all neo-cons are. They don’t love America, they’re in love with themselves.

I think I recognize that fedora-wearing gentleman who crossed the field from left to right. It was not Charles Johnson.

I still respect all the good Johnson did for the world after 9-11. Without his help the left might have actually put Bush in jail on fabricated cocaine abuse charges halfway through his term. It’s just a shame he did it all for his own self-aggrandizement, and bailed the instant he wasn’t getting the respect he thought he deserved. Honestly I don’t think he’d be happy with even the constant outpouring of adoration Obama gets from the media, because there would still be the slim chance someone might say he’s wrong about something. At least he had his freakout-inducing setback before he had a true cult of personality, or else we’d be reading about another Sun Temple Sect mass suicide.

    Hilarious.

Breitbart was a witty guy too.  Good tribute.

OK help. I know who Charles Johnson is. But I do not get the joke.  I haven’t paid him much attention since he flipped from good guy to bad guy, like pro wrestlers sometimes do.

Breitbart is standing with Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, both of whom were engaged in exposing creeping acceptance of radical islamism here and abroad.  CJ decided this was “racist” and began a vicious smear campaign against them and anyone who defended them.

By having his picture taken with them both and calling it the “Charles Johnson Special,” Andrew is telling CJ to [insert your favorite suggestion here].  Because flipping him off would just be rude.

Oh, he’ll get around to you if the lesions on his brain don’t suppurate first.

Wait, wasn’t Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs very much *against* radical Islam?

So later on, he became for it?

    Wha??  How??

Last time I visited LGF it was literally just Charles and his yes men toadies.  He had purged everyone with even the slightest divergence from his own opinions.  I couldn’t even figure out what got me banned.  People joke about him “going crazy”, but  I think there really was some sort of psychological issue.  That or someone got serious leverage on the guy.

    Charles who?

  16. Adjoran
    March 3rd, 2012 @ 3:06 am

Yes, he was a leading “crusader” at finding instances of the very sort Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer were blogging about.  He underwent some sort of overnight change, had some sort of epiphany – which I attribute to too many years of sniffing his own bicycle seat – and basically switched sides.

I, like many, had long since stopped checking LGF because of the distastefully incestuous environment there, even before he crossed to the Dark Side.

I had the honor of getting kicked off LGF once. The site is infused with sycophant atheists. “Chuck” has a strange obsession with bad photography — usually sunsets and bicycles. He’s really paranoid about dissenting opinion so anyone suspicious is immediately banned. The result is, he is Hitler and the remainder of the posters are his SS.

    March 3rd, 2012 @ 3:10 am

No doubt.  Maybe a tumor, maybe festering lesions on the brain, maybe the psycho-trauma of years of drug abuse, who knows?

The Too-Much-Sniffing-o’-Bicycle-Seats Theory remains viable until disproved, however.

Oh man what I’d give to have CJ call me a racist! I suppose he presumes as such because he banned me from LGF back when I was 17 or so for defending his usual targets against the “RAAAACISM” charge. Man those were the days. What a great video. Three fantastic patriots. I’m sure Andrew is preparing a report on CJ for BIGheaven.com to have on file.

The Charles Johnson saga is a cautionary tale: Be wary of people who change principles like most folks change clothes.

    Cherchez la femme.

He got himself a woman. I’m guessing she’s a hard-core lefty, so he adapted himself to her.

He wasn’t really a conservative in the first place, just a hawk. By the time Obama was elected, his metamorphosis was complete.

I was banned, too, for down-clicking his anti-Glenn Beck posts.

Charles Johnson didn’t do shit except to set up an online forum with cut-and-paste links found by others. He wanted to be Drudge, but Drudge was already there.

Johnson lifted and publicized Buckhead’s observation (posted on FreeRepublic hours prior)  on Dan Rather’s obvious fraud and created a .gif animation, claimed the bust as his own. Johnson’s own commenters alerted him to Buckhead’s post. Johnson didn’t even find it himself.

For sure, Johnson helped to set up blogs to counteract MSM bullshit, but then he turned on the very same people who helped him set up and publish  his own, people like  Andrew Breitbart.

Johnson’s  got no credentials and no credibility anymore except as a backstabbing petulant magical pony-tailed boil on the ass of the blogosphere who nobody trusts.

And Andrew Breitbart left a bomb behind for Chuck.

    Love,
    The Boiler Room Crew

I used to have an id at LGF (ooh, he liked to open those little “windows”). Got bored and almost forgot about it, until I saw a mention (maybe on Instapundit, don’t remember) so I went back.

Boy is that place creepy now. It gives me the heebie-jeebies.

I remember LGF as “the site you couldn’t get on”. There were many times back in  the day, when Johnson was still a (nominal) conservative where I would have liked to engage. But it was always “closed”. Thank heaven for Ace and a few others, who never close and only block if you are really really raunchy.

I seem to recall that he complained about receiving death threats from “right-wingers” and evidently took them seriously enough that he ended up moving to a gated community.

As if THAT would be enough to protect him from the mind control ray of our Dark Lord, Karl Rove.  MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

From what I can tell he went straight from crazy extreme Islamophobia to calling anyone who criticizes the most violent Islamic radicalism a bigot or racist. He’s way off balance and his blog is a cult where his members get super bonus points for agreeing with him.
