Ace of Spades: National Day of Blogger Silence — This Friday

On Friday, this site will be absolutely dead-silent, which is what Brett Kimberlin and his stalker crew seeks, and what the media and our supposed Representatives in Congress would permit.
The only post on Friday will be a bold-faced Open Letter to Congress, urging them to act and not attempt to pass the buck to others.
They are our representatives; we would like some representation.
They vowed to defend and protect the Constitution; they can honor that vow now.
I will post links of Congressmen’s and Senator’s email addresses and offices and phone numbers, and urge every concerned American citizen to let them know, in no uncertain terms, that a crime in progress against the First Amendment (and people’s safety) is occurring, and we humbly request they take this seriously.
They are literally going to get someone killed. That is their endgame here.
Will the media and Congress pretend “we didn’t know” when this happens?
ABCNews knows.
The Weekly Standard knows.
The Daily Caller knows.
And many, but not yet all, Congressmen and Senators know.

This blog will (likely) follow Ace’s lead. I’m sure my Congressman will listen to a polite petition. He could surprise me and take action, too. That hope exists.

Update: linked at The Daley Gator

Update II: More at American Power. Furthermore, Stacy spoke to Ali and got this quote:

“World War Three.”

The nature of the offense is that the allegedly Brett Kimberlin-linked site “Breitbart Unmasked” (no linky love for these clowns) apparently thought it was cool to post photos of the location of some family members of Ali.

Now, I have not ever seen Ali in an other-than-gentlemanly mode. I shall strive to keep it that way.

Update III: linked at The Camp of the Saints

Update IV: linked at The Conservatory, Da Tech Guy, and The Lonely Conservative. Plus reporting at Twitchy.

Update V: linkage from The Fellowship of the Perpetually Aggrieved, hogewash, Ameryx le Gallois, Conservative Hideout, and The Rio Norte Line.

Friday on my blog will be silent. Not even the inane or silly posts or those based on religion that I have posted since I posted this last Wednesday: http://wp.me/p27DAO-p9. No Brett Kimberlin, no Neal Rauhauser, no Brad Friedman. Not since last Wednesday.
Yes, I will be silent on Friday. It’s just another day when you’re gagged.

They and most of our congress critters will see this as a victory.
I submit that most in congress would see the end of political blogging from both sides as a blessing.

Smitty, Ace is also concerned about blind links being posted on threads there — it might be an attempt to capture IP addresses, and get a list of supporters.  I’m not that much of a geek, but I imagine it’s possible.

I suggest that we should be concerned here as well.

I’ve noticed they tend to use cats in their twitter names and pictures. Neal, Shog etc.  The guy who threatened Ali used “catsrimportant”   Anyone else notice that?

I will (continue to) take part in bringing this matter before my Congressdrones… and ones actually like to do something, unlike Berman and Sherman and the CA Senate Bobbsy twins.

I’m not sure I see the point of silent Friday.  Remember the Great Gay Strike of, what was it, 2009, 2010?  Remember the devastating effect it didn’t have?

I think I might spend the day posting the addresses and contact information of every organization that allegedy roosts under Velvet Revolution’s umbrella, instead… at least those of them that aren’t empty letterheads.

I think your idea makes more sense.  Ace is a bit thick sometimes.  If the old media hasn’t picked up this story yet, who is naive enough to believe a day of silence is going to mean anything.

Congress can put pressure on to investigate the non-profit funding.  Other than that, what’s the federal role here?  If the SWAT-ing was interstate, they have jurisdiction, but they work under Holder.

“Writing your congressman” over stuff they don’t really have much operational control over isn’t going to accomplish much.

If everyone is taking the day off from blogging, maybe they should form a posse.

This will do nothing.  A blogburst was able to affect what was it, PIPA and SOPA because Google and those guys got on it, and it affected their sweet graft deals.  No one is going to run into a Senator’s office and say “Omigod we need to get a CYA statement out quick, Ace of Spades has gone dark!”

Here is how to deal with Kimberlin.  He’s a terrorist, right?  Terrorists are cowards.  They attack where they are weak themselves because they know it hurts.  So they posted photos of homes of Ali’s family?  Post pictures of his.  Easy to get, I drove by Kimberlin’s mom’s house the other day, and how cliche, a Prius out front.   Easy to do, and you are on public streets, right?  And why wouldn’t we do it?  Because they will file a lawsuit?  Okay, file a frigging lawsuit on them for this crap, right now!  Subpoena their ISP and hoster.  Don’t we have some tech guys on our side?  Why wouldn’t someone on this side do it?  Afraid because he’s a big scary bomber?  Remember, terrorists are cowards.

Ace wants to get Congress to make this crap illegal, well guess what, it already is.  What makes Kimberlin scary is that he has radical ideology married to the power of the state.  If you could get Boehner’s attention, and then have that bill get through Harry Reid’s Senate, you think Eric Holder’s Justice Department would prosecute?  Seriously?

Let me be clear – I am in no way advocating anyone do this – but don’t you think that Kimberlin would be a lot less enamored of SWATting if his mom’s house got SWATted?  If Velvet Revolution headquarters were raided for the meth lab there?

They are kind of clever, technically.  They break netcraft, never seen that before.  And they host in the UK, so that makes it a little harder jurisdiction-wise, I guess.

You’re right.  We cannot live intimidated or in fear and we certainly can’t be silent or we’ve already lost.  Are you familiar with Ann Barnhardts webpage?  Agree with her or not, she’s got a no holds barred mouth attached to a set of balls made of solid brass, gives detailed directions to her home and invites those who threaten her to bring it on.  Not all of us can do that, be a Barnhardt or Malkin, but some of us will have to.

While there may be something to be said for expending every keystroke normally spent writing or in my case commenting on blogs hammer and tonging ones elected officials (IMO this effort should include State AGs) I’m doubtful that “Nobody blog about anything day” will raise more awareness than Every Body Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day did.

Well, if you’re gonna defend your rights sometimes it takes more than a blog or a lawyer.  She’s got the right stance in my opinion.  The state AG’s are a good idea in the states these are taking place.  They are mandated to respond and I know my AG here has each time I’ve raised an issue.

I know what Ace is thinking: Why are we carrying water for these spineless Republican pansies in Congress, if they’re going to sit on their cowardly asses while we’re out here being gobbled up one by one, along with our families?

Loyalty is not a one-way street, eh?

  25. Sanmon

I’ll be silent, get some work done around the house or maybe go fishing. I’ll contemplate the value of Blogs and the value of a Glock. Both have there seasons and reasons. E Pluribus Unum also has value and meaning and it is always in season. Liberty is what I live for. And trusting in God is life in itself. Friday is a great day to recharge and revaluate the enemies tactics. They seem to be following the playbook that Saul left behind. Might be time to out manurer them and out flank them.

I know what he’s thinking.  He’s a lawyer, he thinks the law means something.  It doesn’t, though.  It surely doesn’t work like it does on TV, where you present a logical case with supporting evidence and then the judgement comes down fairly.

Read the transcript of the “trial” in Montgomery County courts.  Think that judge cares one whit about the law?  No, he cares about his power.  He said forget about the First Amendment and that whole precedent from the Supreme Court and listen to *me.*

The law is an ass and all that.  The judge also pointed the way to resolution.  Seems to me that *he* was inciting violence.  But I am not a judge so I don’t get to put people in jail based on that opinion.

Ace is the man, but it is quaint that he thinks that his silence is going to move the world.   If he is looking for some reciprocity from the Republicans in Congress, he hasn’t been paying attention.  You carry water for Republicans, they’ll take your bucket, punch a hole in the bottom, and hand it back.

Also, looks like Kevin Zeese served a letter to National Blogger’s Club with lots of ridiculous requirements such as:

All cellular phones, personal data assistants (e.g. Blackberry), voicemail messages, text messages (SMS or otherwise), instant messages and/or any other device that stores electronic information (e.g. RAM on printing devices or FAX machines) and the like that existed before the delivery of this letter and that contain relevant data should collected, maintained intact and kept available during the pendency of this litigation

So, for those who were concerned about donating to National Blogger’s Club, there it is.

Of course, this says, hey, we are going to sue you.  Not that we have filed something, but rather we are going to file something.   So I don’t know how much water this holds.  But it has begun.  Gird your loins.

OK, now that I can comment (being home from work), while I think Ace’s idea won’t do much, and I’m not sure congressional action is even proper, I do strongly support finding ways to make threats and menacing behavior on the part of Brett Kimberlin and his associates costly.

It is probably unwise to publish ideas that sound stalkerish and menacing in their own right. Ace has that one right. But Tides has a reputation to preserve. Start writing to them, asking about their past funding; write to Threshold, and ask them about funding “campaigns” that are nothing more than -as a commenter here remarked – empty letterheads, or websites with very little original content. CC those letters to the IRS.

It may or may not help. But it’s a lot more likely to begin to pinch Kimberlin’s style than much of anything else.

OK, when this thing started being covered by Stacy, there was some “cry” for Ace to get involved.  Hell that alone was covered as though it was a story worth comment.

So… he’s clearly made the effort.  I’d say join him, or stop bothering him with these things.  Nothing is effective if people don’t get on board.

In fact, the only way Kimberlin’s abuse of the legal system doesn’t end poorly for the right is for people to get on board. Spend your blog-day contacting representatives.
